Pro Bowl CB compares Jerry Jeudy to Amari Cooper

Former Alabama WR Jerry Jeudy is turning heads at Broncos Training camp and is drawing comparisons to another top former Alabama WR.

Former Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy is already turning heads as a member of the Denver Broncos. The No. 15 overall selection fro the 2020 NFL draft is now drawing comparisons to one of the top receivers in the league.

Broncos Pro Bowl cornerback A.J. Bouye has high praise for Jeudy, after spending sometime lined up against the Crimson Tide product at training camp, reports Aric DiLalla of DenverBroncos.com.

“When I watch Jerry Jeudy, he kind of reminds me a lot of Amari Cooper in Oakland with how he’s running his routes, especially when guys are playing off,” Bouye said. “… The stems that he showed, leverage and how he attacks everything — he gets your feet to stop and that’s when it’s over. I like seeing things like that. It’s just helping me game plan myself against him because you never know when other receivers are going to try and implement that.”

Jeudy, who was recognized in 2019 as college footballs best catch passer as the recipient of the Biletnikoff award, seems to already be performing as an NFL receiver without even playing a single snap.

“Being in the league for a while, I’ve seen a lot of rookie receivers come in and it seems like they don’t have it figured out,” Bouye said. “You can look at those two and tell — whether it’s in the offseason, coaching that they’ve had outside — they’re real polished in routes, especially Jeudy. He never gives you the same look every time and I’m loving going against him. He’s going to keep me true to my technique.”

Cooper, a fellow former member of the Crimson Tide, had an impressive rookie season in 2015 with the Oakland Raiders. In that season, Cooper totaled 1,070 yards off of 72 receptions for six touchdowns and an average of 14.9 yards per catch.

In his rookie season, Cooper was named to his first of four Pro Bowls. Those are hefty shoes for Jeudy to fill.

Jerry Jeudy shines in Denver Broncos training camp

Former Alabama WR Jerry Jeudy shines in his Denver Broncos training camp. Players, coaches have high praise for the once Crimson Tide star.

Former Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy put football fans on notice during the 2018 college football season, he won the Biletnikoff award that year and his name has since become commonplace when discussing top collegiate receivers.

However, it’s now time to look at Jeudy’s capabilities at the professional level. Playing against some of the best defensive talent in the country, how will he fare?

Well, according to numerous reports, the No. 15 overall selection from the 2020 draft has been the star of the Denver Broncos training camp.

Zac Stevens of DNVR reports that Broncos head coach Vic Fangio had high praise for Jeudy today.

“Jerry’s come in here and he’s got good polish as a receiver comparing him to other rookie receivers coming out of college,” said Fangio. “He runs good routes. He’s got good change of direction, good hands. It was nice to see him making a couple of plays”

Alabama fans are accustomed to watching Jeudy scare opposing secondaries, but the Broncos defenders are just now getting a taste of it.

Benjamin Albright of KOAColorado tweeted, “Jeudy looks really really good. Just put LB Josey Jewell on skates.”

Broncos safety Kareem Jackson, who also played at the University of Alabama, shared his thoughts on Jeudy, as DNVR’s Andrew Mason reported.

“I think he did some great things today, caught a few balls,” said Jackson. “It’ll just be interesting to see how he progresses from day to day and see if he keeps up that pace through camp.”

Mason also tweeted out some thoughts of his own from training camp, calling Jeudy “mesmerizing.”

In a video tweeted by the Broncos, Jeudy can be seen making a catch and someone in the background yells, “Young Moss out there!”

LOOK: Chad Ochocinco has high praise for Jerry Jeudy

Former NFL star wide receiver Chad Ochocinco comments on Jerry Jeudy’s elite footwork after Jeudy posted a video on Twitter

Former Alabama standout wide receiver Jerry Jeudy wasn’t the first receiver selected in the 2020 NFL draft, that title belongs to his former team mate Henry Ruggs III. As the No. 15 overall selection by the Denver Broncos, the league and it’s fans are excited to see what he is capable of.

The 2018 Biletnikoff award recipient is known for his speed, impeccable route-running abilities and his elusiveness due to his elite footwork.

Though Jeudy has not been able to have access to the Broncos’ facilities, he has still been working out with his new quarterback, Drew Lock, and has been training.

His most recent training video, which he posted to Twitter, caught the eye of a former NFL star, wide receiver Chad Ochocinco. The six-time Pro Bowl receiver quoted Jeudy’s tweet with high praise for his footwork.

“Moses parted the Red Sea for feet like this,” says Ochocinco.

During his time with Alabama, Jeudy had 159 receptions for 2,742 yards and 26 touchdowns.

REPORT: Jerry Jeudy already practicing with Broncos QB Drew Lock

Former Alabama WR Jerry Jeudy was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the first round and has already been seen working with his new QB.

It has been just over a month since former Alabama standout wide receiver Jerry Jeudy was drafted by the Denver Broncos with the No. 15 overall selection and he has already been putting in work.

Despite the NFL limiting who can access team facilities, the 2018 Biletnikoff recipient decided that there was no time to waste when looking to build chemistry with his new quarterback, Drew Lock.

Lock, a fellow SEC product from Missouri, was drafted by the Broncos in the 2019 draft and appears to be the signal caller of the future for a Denver team that has lacked stability at the position since Peyton Manning.

After only appearing in five games throughout the 2019 season, Lock completed 100 passes for 1,020 yards, seven touchdowns and only three interceptions.

Mike Klis of 9News reported that Jeudy is among other players that has been working with Lock at a local field in the Denver area.

The former Alabama receiver is expected to be a key piece to the Broncos offense in 2020 as he’ll be complementing 2019 Pro Bowl receiver Courtland Sutton.

Why Jerry Jeudy will be a game changer in his rookie season

Former Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy is set to be an impact player and the leader of change for the Denver Broncos offense in 2020.

The 2019 Denver Broncos did not look like the 2016 Super Bowl-winning version of themselves. The team finished 7-9 and almost last in the NFL for all passing categories.

They have a fresh faced quarterback in Drew Lock, who is entering his second season in the league, and made sure to secure some weaponry for an all-out arsenal attack through the draft.

With the No. 15 pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft, the Denver Broncos drafted former Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy.

Jeudy wasn’t the first receiver off the draft board, his former teammate Henry Ruggs III was selected by the Las Vegas Raiders at No. 12, but that doesn’t mean Jeudy wasn’t Denver’s first option.

It could have been a coin toss to decide between Ruggs and Jeudy.

Jeudy will be wearing No. 10 in Denver, a number that fans should expect to hear often over the course of his rookie season.

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

After the 2019 season, the Denver Broncos were ranked No. 28 in the NFL for passing yards with only 3,115 yards, last in the league for passing touchdowns with 16 and No. 27 for completions with 312.

Let’s keep in mind that during Denver’s last year in the ‘pre-Jeudy era’ their quarterback was Joe Flacco and wide receiver Courtland Sutton had over twice the number of targets than the second highest receiver had.

This is a new beginning of Denver Broncos football – a rebirth, if you will. Lock as the full-time signal caller, ProBowl receiver Sutton back on the field with some new friends to help him along the way.

Sutton had 72 receptions for 1,112 yards and six touchdowns in 2019 – of those numbers blew every other Broncos receiver out of the water.

One man can only do so much, they had to get Sutton some assistance.

Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

Along with Jeudy, the Broncos drafted Penn State’s KJ Hamler. He will likely be the team’s slot receiver, but the main focus is on the duo of Sutton and Jeudy.

Jeudy’s career at Alabama is the reason why fans are excited to see what he can do in professional football. In his time under Nick Saban, Jeudy tallied 159 receptions for 2,742 yards and 26 touchdowns. To go along with these stats is a 2018 Biletnikoff trophy.

The numbers are great, but watching him makes it so much better.

Watching the elusiveness of Jeudy after the catch will lead to stories you’d only believe if you saw in person. He’s a leader that can back up his talk with a high level of play.

He will be joining a team that was only recently at the top of the sport. He will need to play at an all-time high to get Denver’s laughable passing game out of the slumps.

There are plenty of variables that go into correcting a failing part of a team. Jeudy can make the switch much easier on the front office.

There’s plenty of time before the 2020 NFL regular season begins, but until he gets out on the field we can only speculate as to how big of an impact he will have.
