Jadeveon Clowney is ready to go for Seahawks on Sunday

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is not listed on the team’s injury report, and coach Pete Carroll reports he is ready to go.

While there are certainly some concerns on the Seattle Seahawks injury report for Sunday’s bout with the Green Bay Packers, one encouraging sign is the absence of star defensive end Jadeveon Clowney.

Clowney is not only off the injury report, but coach Pete Carroll reported he is continuing to feel better each day – a great sign he is putting the core muscle injury behind him and reaching his full strength at a key time for the Seahawks.

“As the week progressed he felt much better than he did last week so he’s in good shape and ready to go,” Carroll said on Friday. “We’re excited about that. Really certain about his return, so he’s in good shape to go.”

Clowney has been dealing with a sports hernia related injury since November, but he has managed to play in each of the last two games and had a huge impact against the Eagles in Philadelphia, recording five solo tackles and one sack.

His presence will be one of the most important aspects of Sunday’s battle against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, which kicks off at 3:40 p.m. PT.

Jadeveon Clowney (illness) downgraded to out for Week 15

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is sick with the flu and will not play in Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers.

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney has been downgraded to out for Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers, but his recent core muscle injury is not the culprit.

Instead, a bout with the flu bug that was going around Seattle’s locker room last week seems to have finally caught up with Clowney, who missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday with flu like symptoms.

Clowney was able to practice on Friday, but apparently his illness (and possibly his core injury) were too much for the Seahawks to feel comfortable suiting him up this week.

“He’s still getting back,” Carroll said on Friday. “He was out here with us today and all. He’s recovering still. He’s been pretty sick.”

David Moore, Tre Flowers and Tyler Lockett were among those afflicted with the flu last week, although all three managed to make it back in time to play against the Rams in Los Angeles.

Carroll had hoped Clowney would follow the same path, but he admitted, “it hasn’t been a good week for him at all.”

The Seahawks will be without Clowney’s ability as a run-stuffer and a pass-rusher this week against a Panthers offense that, even without Cam Newton, still has plenty of weapons to play spoiler against Seattle in a crucial Week 15 matchup.

Jadeveon Clowney will have to fight to play in Week 15

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is fighting to keep playing this season, despite pain in his abdomen.

Seattle Seahawks star defensive end Jadeveon Clowney decided to forego surgery on his core for a sports hernia related injury, and will instead try to play through the injury for the rest of the season.

Clowney made it through the first week, playing 41 defensive snaps on Sunday night against the Rams, but coach Pete Carroll already knows it will be tough for him to be ready for Week 15 against the Panthers.

“He’s hurting,” Carroll stated on Monday. “He’s going to have to work his way through the week to make it for game day. He’s playing really tough under the circumstances. He’s got some core issues that he’s working with, but he’s making it through. He’s toughing it out, doing rehab and all that stuff.”

Clowney wasn’t able to generate much pressure on Sunday against the Rams, only recording two combined tackles on the night. However, his presence is of the utmost importance to this team going forward.

The Seahawks certainly don’t want to risk him aggravating his injury and having to miss the rest of the season and the playoffs, so expect him to be a limited participant in practices for the rest of the year, and a frequently listed player on the injury report.

Jadeveon Clowney will not undergo core muscle surgery for now

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney will hold off on surgery for his core muscle injury and try to manage it this season.

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney has been dealing with a nasty core muscle injury since the team’s Week 10 win over the San Francisco 49ers. Coach Pete Carroll has already gone on record stating that he is “counting on” the veteran edge rusher to play Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings.

Clowney told reporters before practice on Friday that his health is improving. “I’m feeling better,” he said via ESPN. “Getting ready to go today. See how it’s going to go.”

Carroll had said earlier in the week Clowney would not be undergoing surgery immediately and the defensive end plans on holding off on a procedure for now.

“Not at this moment, I don’t,” he said. “That’s a good thing. I ain’t too worried about it. I’m feeling better today. Worry about tomorrow when it gets here. Live for today.”

Clowney is aware that he will likely have to deal with his injury throughout the rest of the season and is determined to finish the year on a good note. He expressed the team is on board with his game plan.

“Oh yeah. They know that,” he said. “Something we know, but got to finish this thing strong.”

The Seahawks will likely need Clowney to be healthy if they want to make a strong postseason run, so fans will hope that he can manage it for the rest of the regular season and beyond.
