The world has been mourning the passing of legendary rapper Coolio since the news of his death broke on Wednesday. His music influenced a generation, particularly his hit song “Gangsta’s Paradise,” which is easily one of the most popular rap songs in existence.
It was only fitting at practice on Thursday afternoon that New England Patriots players had the iconic song playing in the background as they prepared for Sunday’s road game at Lambeau Field against Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.
ESPN’s Mike Reiss was doing his injury reporting when he stepped aside to let the tunes of “Gangsta’s Paradise” fade him out.

Coolio, whose real name is Artis Leon Ivey Jr. won a Grammy Award for the legendary track in 1996. He’s also known for the hit songs “Fantastic Voyage,” “C U When U Get There,” and “1,2,3,4 (Sumpin’ New).”
