Oklahoma Sooners earn commitment from Michigan State OT Spencer Brown

The Oklahoma Sooners picked up their first transfer commitment adding Michigan State OT Spencer Brown.

The Oklahoma Sooners have picked up their first commitment of this year’s [autotag]transfer portal[/autotag] cycle, earning a pledge from Michigan State offensive tackle Spencer Brown.

After redshirting in 2020, Brown earned a couple of starts in 2021. In 2022, he became a full-time starter at right tackle. In total, he played just over 1,400 snaps and started 25 games for the Spartans.

With the Sooners expected departures along the offensive line, Bill Bedenbaugh and company had to go into the portal to find some veteran help. The Sooners are expected to lose Walter Rouse, McKade Mettauer, Tyler Guyton, and possibly Andrew Raym. Rouse and Mettauer are out of eligibility and Guyton looks like a top 50 pick in the 2024 NFL draft.

Raym is the interesting one. He has his COVID year of eligibility remaining, but the expectation is that he’ll try his hand at the professional ranks.

With one year remaining of eligibility, Brown likely takes over at right tackle. He’ll join Cayden Green and Jacob Sexton as returners with starting experience. Troy Everett could be the starter at center if Raym goes, adding another player with experience to what could be an inexperience line going into the SEC

Offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh has done a fantastic job of identifying talent in the transfer portal over the last several years. He’s gotten productive playing time from the portal out of guys like Chris Murray, Wanya Morris, McKade Mettauer, Tyler Guyton, and Walter Rouse.

The Sooners are hoping Spencer Brown can help solidify the right side of the offensive line heading into the SEC. Brown chose Oklahoma over offers from USC and Ole Miss.

Oklahoma Sooners receive commitment from 2026 4-Star RB Jonathan Hatton

The Oklahoma Sooners earned their first commitment of the 2026 recruiting cycle with a pledge from four-star running back Jonathan Hatton.

The Oklahoma Sooners recruiting efforts are ahead of schedule. On Tuesday, they earned their first commitment of the 2026 recruiting cycle from four-star running back [autotag]Jonathan Hatton[/autotag].

Oklahoma offered Hatton back in June after attending [autotag]Brent Venables[/autotag] football camp. He was back on campus at the end of July and then was in town for the Oklahoma Sooners beatdown of Iowa State this weekend.

Hatton is a consensus four-star running back prospect and someone who could see his profile rise even higher over the next three years. 247Sports, On3, and Rivals each consider him a top-80 prospect in the cycle and top 10 player in Texas for 2026.

The sophomore already has fantastic size for the running back position, standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 205 pounds.

He’s a runner who displays fantastic vision with great cut-back ability. He’s strong at the point of attack, willing to take on tacklers, and can often break through contact. Hatton also displays enough speed to get to the second level and take it the distance for a touchdown.

When you watch his highlights, his running style reminds you of running backs coach [autotag]DeMarco Murray[/autotag] and former Sooner great [autotag]Joe Mixon[/autotag]. Both were smooth runners with upright styles that can make people miss, as well as break tackles to pick up extra yards.

With the commitment the Sooners earned the pledge of one of the top players in the state of Texas.

Longhorns land commitment from four-star running back

#SarkAfterDark. Tashard Choice and Steve Sarkisian pick up a talented back in the 2023 class.

It was a huge night for Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns as they closed out the spring session with the annual Orange-White spring game. Not only did they see the likes of Quinn Ewers, Isaiah Neyor, and Roschon Johnson put on a show, but the night ended with two commitments.

The first one came from four-star running back Tre Wisner, who tweeted the news on Saturday night. The DeSoto product was being pursued by the likes of Texas, Oklahoma, Auburn, Arkansas, and Baylor. It was running back coach Tashard Choice and the Horns that ultimately won out. Wisner became the fourth overall commit to the 2022 class and the first on offense.

They later added another offensive player following the spring game. Wisner will join a room that likely loses Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson following the season. But they will still have plenty of talent in Austin at running back.

As spring football comes to a close and focus shifts to recruiting and the summer conditioning programs, the Horns closed it out with a bang.

LSU lands five-star commitment from Yohan Traore

Another big-time addition to Will Wade’s 2022 class.

It didn’t go well on the court for the LSU Tigers in the SEC/Big 12 challenge when they faced off with the TCU Horned Frogs. However, Will Wade received some good news on Sunday. Five-Star center Yohan Traore committed to playing for the Tigers in 2022.

Traore was down to several schools with Kansas, Michigan, Memphis, and Texas Tech all in the mix. Ultimately he opted to play down on the Bayou for Will Wade. This would give the Bayou Bengals a solid one-two punch down low with fellow five-star Efton Reid. That is provided that Reid sticks around for another season in Baton Rouge.

Traore is a menace in the paint and a true rim protector. It isn’t uncommon to see him launch a blocked shot into the seats. With the addition of Traore, LSU has the No. 11 ranked recruiting class for 2022. He joins four-star small forward Terry Ree and McDonald’s All-American and five-star signee Julian Phillips.

This gives LSU two of the top 15 recruits in the nation. Phillips plays power forward and Traore can play either the four or five spot on the floor. Plenty of frontcourt talent is coming to the PMAC.
