The Colorado Rockies (54-91) and Detroit Tigers (74-71) play the middle contest of a 3-game interleague series Wednesday. First pitch from Comerica Park is set for 6:40 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Rockies vs. Tigers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Tigers lead 1-0

The Tigers hammered the Rockies 11-0 in the series opener Tuesday, as Colorado was limited to just 3 hits. The big hitting stars for Detroit were OF Parker Meadows and OF Riley Greene, as each player delivered 2 hits and 3 RBIs. OF Matt Vierling and 2B Colt Keith also had multi-hit performances.

Detroit is still very much alive for a postseason berth. It’s currently 3 games back of the Minnesota Twins for the final Wild Card spot in the American League with 17 games remaining in the regular season while sitting a half-game ahead of the Seattle Mariners and 2 games in front of the Boston Red Sox.

The Tigers have picked up 3 consecutive wins, and pitching has been a major reason for the success. Detroit pitchers have allowed just 2 runs in the 3-game win streak while conceding 3 or fewer runs in 11 of the previous 14 outings.

For the Rockies, they’re simply playing out the string, as Colorado has long since been eliminated from the postseason chase. The Rockies aren’t throwing in the towel, though, going a respectable 3-2 in the past 5 outings despite the ugly, lopsided loss Tuesday. The Under is 7-1 across the past 8 games.

Rockies at Tigers picks and predictions

Prediction

Tigers 8, Rockies 4

Moneyline

The TIGERS (-174) are rather heavy favorites, but not priced out of line if you’re a little more on the conservative side.

Detroit is in the mix for the final Wild Card spot in the American League, but it needs to keep its foot on the gas and take advantage of a good situation. Wednesday is one of those such situations, as Gordon has been an absolute disaster.

Run line/Against the spread

If you’re a little more on the adventurous side, TIGERS -1.5 (+116) is a strong play on the run line. Detroit covered in an 11-0 whitewashing of the Rockies +1.5 (-140).

Be careful, as Detroit is 1-4 in the past 5 on the run line as a favorite, although that lone cover was Tuesday’s series-opening win.

Colorado is 3-5 in the past 8 games as an underdog on the run line while losing 4 of the past 5 interleague contests by 2 or more runs.

Over/Under

OVER 8 (-115) is a strong play, and Detroit might be able to take care of things all on its own.

Gordon has a dismal 7.55 ERA this season and an 8.69 ERA mark on the road. Be careful not to get carried away, however, as the Under hit in 7 straight games for the Rockies prior to Tuesday’s series-opening Over result.

For the Tigers, though, the Over is 3-1 in the past 4 outings while going 4-2 in the past 6 interleague battles.
