The Clemson Tigers and Ohio State Buckeyes gave the college football world what they were looking for after LSU demolished Oklahoma. Clemson ended up winning 29-23 in a tightly contested game that came down to a final interception.
The game featured a targeting call and several other controversial penalties. Ohio State will kick themselves for their red zone failures, but should be happy with their overall effort.
Here’s how college football Twitter reacted to the epic game:
For the neutral fan, games like that are why we love college football.

Targeting is a ridiculous penalty in college football. Should have to get TWO be be ejected. #CFBPlayoff THAT Ohio State player should not have been ejected—and I’m rooting for Clemson.

Me watching all the Ohio State fans pretend their 4 touchdownless redzone trips are the refs fault. #CLEMvsOSU pic.twitter.com/5V1KqCSC5E

Nothing but respect for Justin Fields. Played his heart out & it resulted in an incredible game.
He’s a future first round pick. He was not going to play at Georgia. He made the best decision for himself.
Congrats to Fields on an amazing season. UGA fans should wish him well.

You gotta hand it to little old Clemson, not sure anyone thought they could win outside the 28 teams in a row they beat and Vegas.

You can simultaneously think that Ohio State blew chances in the red zone AND that they got jobbed by the refs. Both can be true.#CLEMvsOSU #FiestaBowl
