Notre Dame vs. Cincinnati: Staff Predictions

Who wins Saturday and why?

Brian Kelly is in his 12th season as the head coach at Notre Dame and this Saturday’s game will be just the third regular season contest his Irish have hosted as a top-10 team against another top-10 squad.  The previous was a 38-17 win over No. 8 Stanford as Ian Book made his first Notre Dame Stadium start in 2018 while the other was last year’s double-overtime thriller that ended with an upset of No. 1 Clemson.

I’m not sure the odds you could have gotten when Kelly was hired that he’d win more games than any coach in program history, but the odds that he’d be taking on his former program in a 2021 top-10 matchup would have been even that much greater.

So what ultimately happens in this Saturday showdown between a pair of top-10 teams?  Here’s what the Fighting Irish Wire staff sees:

Peach Bowl: Jordan Davis blocks FG, JT Daniels throws bomb to Arian Smith

Watch as Jordan Davis blocks the Cincinnati field goal before UGA football WR Arian Smith reels in a bomb.

Tied at 7-7 in the Chick Fil A Peach Bowl, the Dawgs were in danger of trailing the Cincinnati Bearcats.

The Bearcats drove the field and were lined up for an easy field goal attempt.

However, Georgia defensive lineman Jordan Davis had other plans.

Watch as he blocks the kick.

Next up it was true freshman speedster Arian Smith’s turn to make a play.

JT Daniels threw a bomb to Smith, who reeled it in for a 55 yard gain.

Georgia football WR George Pickens makes unbelievable diving catch

Georgia football WR George Pickens made an unbelievable diving catch in the Peach Bowl.

Trailing 7-0 in against Cincinnati in the Peach Bowl, Georgia wide receiver George Pickens decided he had enough from the sluggish offensive start.

On first and 10 from the Georgia 25 yard line, JT Daniels bombed a 50 yarder to Pickens, who fully extended to make the incredible diving catch.

Buuuuut that did not last long. After a great Zamir White run, Daniels threw an interception in the end zone.
