In both team’s first action of the 2021 season, the Cincinnati Bengals will travel down to Florida to take on the Super Bowl-winning Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET with the game being held at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, FL. Below, we look at the Bengals vs. Buccaneers odds and lines, and make our best NFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Bengals will be without QB Joe Burrow in this preseason game. He tore his ACL in Week 11 of the 2020 season. While expected to be back for Week 1, he’ll be watching from the side in this one.

For Cincinnati, the offensive line’s competency, revamped defense and increasing weaponry on offense will be what to watch for. But without a steady quarterback, they may struggle to get much on the board.

For Tampa Bay, future first-ballot Hall of Famer Tom Brady is expected to play. With a championship-caliber roster returning, they’ll be the heavy favorites even if the most impactful don’t take many snaps.

Money line

PASS on the money line because the value for both sides really isn’t there.

The Bucs are coming off a Super Bowl, and with wide receivers like Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Antonio Brown on the roster, there is ample talent to dominant Cincinnati.

However, with that -280, I wouldn’t put money on them in a preseason game  they certainly won’t put much stock in.

Against the spread

BET on the BUCCANEERS -5.5 (-115) as the best team bet. Brady is going to play, and having a competent starting quarterback is more than Cincinnati can say. Just one drive by Brady could easily result in an easy 7-0 start.

The Bengals used backup QB Brandon Allen last season following Burrow’s injury. He was unimpressive throwing four interceptions and five touchdowns.

They don’t have much outside of Burrow, and despite potentially having the best three-man trio of receivers in the league, it could still result in a struggling offense.

LB Devin White, DE Ndamukong Suh, RB Leonard Fournette and many others make an ultra-talented roster for the Bucs. Expect the Bucs to be able to run up the score even with their backups in place.

Over/Under

“LEAN” to the OVER 33.5 (-115) as the Buccaneers have depth all over the offensive side of the ball. Along those lines, the Bengals have a handful of skilled players looking to make a name for themselves.

Allen should’ve been getting reps behind Burrow, and with receivers like Tee Higgins, Ja’Marr Chase and Tyler Boyd, there’s no reason Cincinnati can’t put some points on the board.

RB Joe Mixon is healthy as well, and with a new offensive line coach in Cincinnati, they expect him to have an easy time running the ball.

If the Bengals can get points on the board and Brady gets at least one drive for the Bucs, the much better bet in this one is the Over 33.5. Also, the Bucs are returning most of their third-best offense in the NFL last season.

The Ravens ran their win streak to four with a 27-13 home win vs. the New York Giants in Week 16. Baltimore, which covered as a 10-point favorite, jumped out to a 17-0 lead early in the second quarter and were never really threatened the rest of the way in gaining control of its own fate in the AFC playoff picture. A win at the Bengals would guarantee the Ravens a third consecutive postseason appearance. The Bengals won their second in a row, prevailing at the Houston Texans 37-31 in Week 16 as 7.5-point underdogs. RB Samaje Perine ran for a season-high 95 yards and 2 TDs, while QB Brandon Allen threw for 371 yards and 2 scores as Cincinnati claimed its first road win since Sept. 30, 2018. After the Texans grabbed their first lead at 31-27, with 6:15 to go, the Bengals responded with a 10-play scoring drive, capped by Perine’s 3-yard TD run with 1:57 remaining. WR Tee Higgins finished with a team-high 99 receiving yards and a TD on 6 catches.

Houston Texans favored against Cincinnati Bengals Week 16 at home

The Cincinnati Bengals are the betting road underdogs in its Week 16 at the Houston Texans.

The Cincinnati Bengals (3-10-1) and Houston Texans (4-10) are lined up for a Week 16 Sunday afternoon (1 p.m. ET) battle at NRG Stadium. Below, we take a look at the early Week 16 betting odds and lines at BetMGM Sportsbook.

The Texans are coming off a 27-20 road loss against the Indianapolis Colts. Houston outgained Indianapolis, 425 yards to 350, but was undone by a pair of fumbles and five sacks. QB Deshaun Watson went 33-of-41 for 373 yards, tossing two touchdown passes along the way. The setback marked Houston’s third straight. The Texans now return home where they are just 2-4 this season and 2-6 over their last eight games.

The Bengals defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers, 27-17, in the Week 15 Monday night-er. Cincinnati was a plus-3 in turnovers in a game that features just 474 yards of offense between the two teams. The victory marked the Bengals’ first in six weeks. Cincinnati now goes on the road where they are thus far winless on the season: in seven away games, the Bengals are 0-6-1. Cincy hasn’t won a road game since Sept. 30, 2018, when the Bengals edged the Atlanta Falcons, 37-36.

Cincy has lost 5 in a row and failed to score at least 18 points in each game during the stretch. At 2-10-1, the Bengals are looking at the No. 3 overall draft pick, just behind the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-12) and the New York Jets (0-13) – five teams are tied at 4-9.

Cincy scored first when WR Tyler Boyd turned a short first-quarter pass from QB Brandon Allen (11 of 19, 153 passing yards, 1 TD, 1 INT) into a 72-yard, touchdown. The Bengals were shut out the rest of the way and were held to 25 yards after halftime in suffering a fourth consecutive defeat.

The Bengals gave the New York Giants all they could handle, and even had a chance to steal a victory but lost at home 19-17 in Week 12. Cincinnati’s offense struggled in its first game without rookie QB Joe Burrow, who suffered a season-ending injury in Week 11 vs. the Washington Football Team.

QB Brandon Allen started, completing 17 of 29 passes for just 136 yards and 1 touchdown with 1 interception. Allen didn’t get a lot of help from the ground game, which was missing an injured RB Joe Mixon, and only gained 40 yards on 15 carries and was kept out of the end zone.

Miami smothered the New York Jets in a 20-3 win for the second time this season, outscoring their AFC East rivals 44-3 in the two victories. He was picked off twice, completed less than 60% of his passes (16 of 27) for 197 yards and finished with an 18.3 QBR.

The Dolphins had 12 more first downs (22-10), and held the Jets to 3 of 13 third-down conversions and 0-for-1 on fourth-down attempts. QB Ryan Fitzpatrick filled in nicely for an injured QB Tua Tagovailoa, passing for 257 yards and 2 touchdowns with no interceptions. Tagovailoa’s Week 13 status is uncertain currently.

The Giants are coming off a bye and, despite the below .500 record, they are only one-half game out of first place in the NFC East. They’re an impressive 7-3 ATS and have won three of five straight up – including two in a row vs. division foes – after starting the season 0-5. Their most recent victory was a 27-17 Week 10 home win vs. the first-place Philadelphia Eagles (3-6-1). QB Daniel Jones has passed for 2,122 yards with 8 touchdowns against 9 interceptions, while also leading the team in rushing yards (384 with 1 TD).

The Bengals not only lost at the Washington Football Team 20-9 in Week 11, they likely lost QB Joe Burrow to a season-ending injury to his left knee. The NC State product started three games as a rookie in 2019, losing all three games while completing just 47.1% of his pass attempts for 474 yards with 2 TDs vs. 2 picks. With RB Joe Mixon on IR with a foot injury, Cincy probably can’t wait for the season to end.

Washington didn’t score its first touchdown until 2:30 left in the third quarter.
