Cincinnati at Northern Kentucky picks and predictions

Prediction

Cincinnati 76, Northern Kentucky 65

Moneyline

No interest. PASS.

Against the spread

UC and NKU met last Nov. 19 and the Bearcats outshot and outrebounded their neighbors to the south by a wide margin. Cincinnati covered a 12.5-point spread in a 90-66 rout.

Northern Kentucky is not a good rebounding team, and if a big shooting advantage holds, this number is solid. But peg bot sides being due a dose of regression, helping the Norse and hindering the Bearcats.

A veteran NKU core facing some youthful UC players getting their first taste of road play this fall makes for a bumpier ride for the Bearcats this time out.

The leverage here is rather slight, though. Consider a partial-unit play on NORTHERN KENTUCKY +14.5 (-120).

Over/Under

Last year’s meeting cruised past an O/U of 137.5, and the last 6 times UC has been a double-digit road favorite, the Over has gone 4-2.

A mid-tempo game flow without an abundance of free throws should be the expectation. But NKU will launch a lot of 3s; any regression bounce from a shaky 24.3% mark so far would make for some points in chunks. And a fair number of second-chance points would seem likely for the Bearcats.

TAKE THE OVER 137.5 (-110).

Cincinnati vs. Iowa State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Cincinnati at Iowa State odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Cincinnati Bearcats (5-4, 3-3 Big 12) meet the No. 25 Iowa State Cyclones (7-2, 4-2)  at Jack Trice Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is at 8 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we look at Cincinnati vs. Iowa State odds from BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Cincinnati’s skid extended to 2 games after a 31-24 loss to West Virginia, who covered as 5-point road underdogs. The Over 54.5 hit, despite the Bearcats outgaining the Mountaineers by 188 yards. Turnovers proved costly, with Cincinnati committing 3. RB Evan Pryor was a standout, hauling in 5 receptions for 100 yards, highlighted by an 80-yard touchdown.

No. 25 Iowa State dropped its 2nd straight game, falling 45-36 to Kansas as 2-point home underdogs. The Over 52.5 cashed as the Cyclones struggled to stop Kansas’ offense, which tallied 295 passing and 237 rushing yards. QB Rocco Becht threw for 383 yards and 3 touchdowns but had a critical interception. WR Jaylin Noel stood out, recording 8 catches for 167 yards and 2 touchdowns in the loss.

Cincinnati vs. Iowa State picks and predictions

Prediction

Iowa State 30, Cincinnati 21

Moneyline

PASS.

Iowa State (-300) takes this game at home Saturday, but instead of laying 3-to-1, I’ll take my bet to the spread.

Against the spread

BET IOWA STATE -7.5 (-110).

Both teams are desperate for a win to end their recent skids, but Iowa State is favored to rebound Saturday and continue its push to surpass last season’s 6-3 conference record. The Cyclones’ defense, led by Jon Heacock, allows just 18.8 points per game, ranking 2nd in the Big 12 and 19th nationally. Becht commands the offense, leading the conference in yards per attempt (8.6) and yards per completion (14.0), with a 16:7 TD-INT ratio. Noel (892 yards, 5 TDs) and WR Jayden Higgins (791 yards, 7 TDs) provide big-play threats. Iowa State is 5-4 ATS this year and handled Cincinnati 30-10 in their last meeting.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 52.5 (-110).

Iowa State and Cincinnati showcase solid defenses this season, with the Cyclones allowing 18.8 points per game (2nd in the Big 12) and the Bearcats giving up 22.2 (6th in the conference). Cincinnati has gone over in 3 of 9 games, including a 1-2-1 record on the road, while Iowa State sits at 5-4 on Overs. The Under looks like the smarter play.

Cincinnati at Colorado picks and predictions

Prediction

Cincinnati 24, Colorado 21

Moneyline

Colorado has scored 28 or more points in 5 straight games and averaged 37 per game in conference play. However, CINCINNATI (+200) has allowed 16 or fewer points in 4 its last 5 games and has given up an average of 17.8 per game in conference play.

The Bearcats have scored 27 or more points in 5 of 7 games.

Colorado has allowed over 30 points in 2 of 4 conference games.

BET CINCINNATI (+200).

Against the spread

The Buffs have covered the spread in 5 straight games. The Bearcats are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 games.

But it comes down to both teams’ defenses. Both offenses score well. Cincinnati’s defense is better, and that should be enough to not only cover, but win outright, so betting the moneyline is huge.

PASS.

Over/Under

Three of Colorado’s 4 conference games have had 59 or more total points.

But only 1 of Cincinnati’s 4 conference games has had a total higher than 48.

BET UNDER 57.5 (-115).

Cincinnati at BYU odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Cincinnati at BYU odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Cincinnati Bearcats (2-2, 0-1 Big 12) are on the road to face the BYU Cougars (3-1, 0-1) in a Friday night Big 12 conference game. Kickoff at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo is at 10:15 p.m. ET (ESPN).  Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Cincinnati vs. BYU odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Cincinnati opened conference play last week with a 20-6 home loss to Oklahoma, failing to cover the 13.5-point spread as underdogs as the Under (57) easily cashed. It was their 2nd straight loss after starting the season 2-0.

BYU also opened conference play last week with a loss to Kansas on the road 38-27, failing to cover the 9-point spread as the underdogs while the Over (57.5) hit. They started the season with 3 straight wins.

Cincinnati at BYU picks and predictions

Prediction

BYU 27, Cincinnati 20

Moneyline

Cincinnati’s point total has decreased each week this season. They have won their only road game so far this season.

BYU has averaged 35.3 points per game in their last 3 contests. This will be the Cougars’ home conference debut in the Big 12.

BET BYU (+100)

Against the spread

With only a 1.5-point spread, there is only the slightest chance a team wins without covering. BYU is 1-3 ATS through 4 game this season and 2-0 ATS when favored. Cincinnati is 2-2 ATS but has failed to cover the spread in their last 2.

Here, the better play is to stick with the moneyline on BYU. PASS.

Over/Under

Go lightly as the Over has hit in BYU’s last 3 games and all 3 totals reached 50 or more. And 2 of Cincinnati’s 4 games have reached 50 points.

BET UNDER 49.5 (-110).

Oklahoma at Cincinnati odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Oklahoma at Cincinnati odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Cincinnati Bearcats (2-1) make their Big 12 debut when they welcome the No. 14 Oklahoma Sooners (3-0) to Nippert Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is set for noon ET (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Oklahoma vs. Cincinnati odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Oklahoma routed Tulsa on the road last week 66-17, covering as a 28-point favorite. QB Dillon Gabriel had a stellar performance completing 28 of 31 attempts for 421 yards and 5 touchdowns. WR Nic Anderson hauled in 3 receptions for 120 yards and 3 TDs while the Sooners had 6 total TDs through the air. The Sooners have outscored opponents 167-28 in their 3 games this season.

UC, in its 1st season of Big 12 action, suffered its 1st loss of the season, falling 31-24 in overtime against in-state rival and non-conference foe Miami (Ohio) last week. The Bearcats failed to cover as 14-point home favorites. Bearcats QB Emory Jones struggled, going 18 of 34 for 265 yards with 2 interceptions. On the ground, he had 20 carries for 101 yards and a touchdown, while RB Ryan Montgomery finished with 104 yards on 20 carries.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Oklahoma at Cincinnati picks and predictions

Prediction

Oklahoma 38, Cincinnati 13

Moneyline

PASS.

At -600 odds, Oklahoma is the clear favorite. Facing a Bearcats team that fell in OT the previous week to a much lesser Miami (Ohio) opponent, the Sooners should easily take this game.

There is little profit to be made on a -600 ML bet for the favorite here.

Against the spread

BET OKLAHOMA -14 (-110).

Last week, 2 things happened to support this bet.

First, Oklahoma’s offense looked phenomenal. Eleven different receivers pulled in passes — 3 of them eclipsed 100 yards. The Sooners’ strength is their passing game. They rank 6th in the country with 358.0 passing yards per game.

Second, is the liability that lies in the Cincinnati defense. It allowed 3 passing TDs in the loss to Miami (Ohio), including a 79-yard TD on the 1st play of the game. The previous week against Pitt, Cincy they also allowed 3 TDs. Against a high-powered Oklahoma offense, do not expect UC to stay in this game for long.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 56.5 (-110).

While the Oklahoma offense has looked great, so has its defense. Holding opponents to just 28 combined points in its first 3 games, a total of 56.5 seems too high to reasonably bet. While the Bearcats have scored at least 24 points in each of their first 3 games, expect Emory and company to struggle to move the ball leading to the Under hitting.

Cincinnati at Pittsburgh odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Cincinnati at Pittsburgh odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Cincinnati Bearcats (1-0) will square off against the Pittsburgh Panthers (1-0) on Saturday at Acrisure Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET (CW Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Cincinnati vs. Pittsburgh odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Bearcats cruised to a 66-13 victory over Eastern Kentucky in Week 1 to cover as 21.5-point home favorites as Arizona State transfer QB Emory Jones aired it out for 345 yards and 5 TDs. This will be the 1st meeting between Cincinnati and Pittsburgh since 2012, won by the Bearcats 34-10.

Even though the Panthers defeated Wofford 45-7 in Week 1, they pushed as 38-point home favorites. In the season opener, Pittsburgh produced 491 yards of offense compared to Wofford’s 126 yards.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Cincinnati at Pittsburgh picks and predictions

Prediction

Pittsburgh 24, Cincinnati 20

Moneyline

The Panthers should come away with the win at home on Saturday, but I’ll AVOID their moneyline at -300 odds. The risk involved with taking Pittsburgh to win is pretty high against a Cincinnati team that could certainly pull off the upset.

Against the spread

CINCINNATI +7.5 (-115) is how I’d wager on the spread with the Bearcats looking to make a statement on the road. Jones looked great in his debut for Cincinnati and he’ll help keep the game close, but Pittsburgh’s defense will make a crucial stop to secure the victory.

While it’s a new season, the Panthers tallied a 2-5 record ATS at home in 2022.

Over/Under

UNDER 45.5 (-110) is the play in this game as both teams are expected to be strong defensively, though, Cincinnati has a new coaching staff. Last season, the Bearcats and the Panthers both allowed 24.3 or fewer points per game.

Dating back to last season, Cincinnati has also gone 3-7 to the Over in their last 10 games overall. The Bearcats hit the Over in Week 1 against Eastern Kentucky, but the Panthers will be stiffer competition on the road in Week 2.

NIT: Cincinnati at Utah Valley odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Cincinnati at Utah Valley NIT quarterfinal odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The 4th-seeded Cincinnati Bearcats (23-12) and unseeded Utah Valley Wolverines (27-8) meet Wednesday in a NIT quarterfinal at UCCU Arena in Orem, Utah. Tip is scheduled for approximately 9 p.m. ET (ESPN2/ESPN+). Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Cincinnati at Utah Valley odds as we make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

Despite a higher seed, the Bearcats hit the road for UCCU Arena in Orem because of renovations at Cincinnati’s home arena.

Cincinnati was able to host Virginia Tech in the 1st round, winning 81-72 as a 5.5-point favorite. It played at Hofstra Saturday, winning 79-65 as a 1-point favorite. The Under has cashed in all 4 of Cincinnati’s postseason games to date.

Utah Valley suffered a devastating loss in the WAC Tournament semifinals in an amazing game against Southern Utah. The Wolverines frittered away a 23-point lead in the second half, and were beaten when SUU converted a 4-point play in the final seconds.

Instead of pouting, UVU bounced back with a pair of road wins and covers against New Mexico and Colorado. The Wolverines are averaging 82.0 PPG, while allowing 69.0 PPG in the NIT. Utah Valley is 10-2 ATS in the last 12 games overall.

Cincinnati at Utah Valley picks and predictions

Prediction

Cincinnati 73, Utah Valley 69

Moneyline

CINCINNATI (-110) is a decent play on the moneyline, as the AAC team hits the road for a challenging battle. Utah Valley (-120) has not pouted about its WAC semifinal stunner, but embraced the NIT experience, its 1st in school history. Still, the Bearcats are a seasoned team with the goods to go the distance.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread

CINCINNATI -1.5 (+105) is certainly worth a look at plus-money, as the Bearcats should be able to get it done by at least a bucket.

The Bearcats are on a 21-8 ATS run in the last 29 games overall, while cashing in 4 of the last 5 against winning teams.

Utah Valley +1.5 (-125) has been hot against the number, going 21-5 ATS in the last 26 games overall. However, it is just 3-8 ATS in the last 11 home games against a team with a winning road record.

Over/Under

The UNDER 147.5 (-115) is the lean.

The Under has cashed in 4 straight for the Bearcats, while going 3-1-1 in the last 5 against teams with a winning percentage over .600.

For the Wolverines, the Under is 9-4-1 in the last 14 games overall, while going 5-2-1 in the last 8 home games against teams with a losing road mark.

BET CINCINNATI -5.5 (-110).

The Hokies were an ACC-worst 2-9 ATS on the road while the Bearcats were an American-best 13-4 ATS at home. Cincinnati covered 3 of its last 4 games at home.

It also can play on both ends of the court, ranking top 75 in offensive and defensive efficiency while Virginia Tech ranks outside the top 125 in defensive efficiency. That’s going to be an issue and should bode well for the Bearcats.

Back CINCINNATI -5.5 (-110).

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 151.5 (-115).

Both teams rank higher in offensive efficiency than defensive efficiency.

Prior to the ACC Tournament, the Hokies went Over in 5 of their last 8 games. Cincinnati went over in 6 of its last 7 prior to the AAC Tournament.

Considering both those aspects, bet OVER 151.5 (-115).

AAC Tournament: Cincinnati vs. Houston odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Cincinnati vs. Houston odds and lines, with expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

The Cincinnati Bearcats (21-11) square off with the No. 1 Houston Cougars (30-2) Saturday in the AAC Tournament semifinals. Tip from Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, is at 3 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Cincinnati vs. Houston odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

Rankings courtesy of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

Cincinnati crushed Temple 84-54 as a 5-point favorite in the quarterfinals Friday. Temple may be one of the two teams to topple Houston this season, but it is not nearly the same caliber as the Cougars and the Bearcats will find Saturday’s semifinal a much greater challenge.

Houston has been dominant all season and continued that dominance Friday with a 60-46 win over East Carolina. It has relied on a smothering defense to routinely hold opponents to fewer than 60 points.

Houston is one of the top contenders for the National Championship this season. A loss here will not diminish this, but a win and a win in the AAC championship game Sunday would solidify the Cougars as the team to beat heading into March Madness where it will be a top seed.

Cincinnati vs. Houston picks and predictions

Prediction

Houston 65, Cincinnati 57

Moneyline

PASS.

Favorites are often valued to such a high extent in NCAA games that the moneyline makes no sense to wager unless your strongly believe in the upset coming through, and that’s exactly what’s happening with Houston (-525) in this semifinal.

There is no value in risking more than 5 times your potential return on the Cougars, and the underdog is far from a certain thing in this one.

Against the spread

BET CINCINNATI +9.5 (-105).

This number has already dropped a full point since early Saturday morning, but I still believe the underdog can cover the spread.

Cincinnati has the ability to keep this game close even if it is never a threat to actually win the game. The Bearcats showed their power by trampling Temple by a 30-point margin Friday.

The Bearcats score 77.9 points per game (42nd) but will do enough against the 2nd-ranked Houston defense (56.5 points allowed per game) to keep this one close. Houston will be unable to pull away enough to cover this number and a 6-to-8-point victory is more in line.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 135.5 (-110).

The Under is the only way to go here.

Houston is an elite defensive team and allowed just 46 points to East Carolina Friday.

While Cincinnati averages 77.9 points per game, do not expect it to get there Saturday. Houston will also not need to score to its average of 76.0 to win.

Neither team should get to 70 and the Under 135.5 is the most tempting play to make in this game.

American Tournament: Temple vs. Cincinnati odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Temple vs. Cincinnati odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Temple Owls (16-15) battle the Cincinnati Bearcats (20-11) in the 2nd round of the AAC Tournament Friday. Tip from Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, is set for 3 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Temple vs. Cincinnati odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Check out: USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll

Temple lost 88-83 at Cincinnati on Feb. 22, but covered the 9-point spread. The Owls beat Cincinnati 70-61 at home Jan. 1, so they are 1-1 straight up and 2-0 against the spread (ATS) in this matchup.

The Owls have lost 6 of their last 8 yet are 4-3-1 ATS in that span. They are 18-11-2 ATS on the season and 16-14 O/U. Their strength is defense, ranking 128th in opponents field goal percentage (43%).

The Bearcats have covered 7 of their last 10 games and have won 3 of their last 4 games outright. Cincinnati is 20-10 ATS this season and 16-13 O/U.

Temple vs. Cincinnati picks and predictions

Prediction

Cincinnati 72, Temple 70

Moneyline

SKIP.

I like Temple on the spread given the trends. It hasn’t consistently won this season like it has covered, so I would avoid the (+170) moneyline odds.

Against the spread

BET TEMPLE +4.5 (-105).

Temple was the best team in the American at covering against conference opponents.

It was 12-6 ATS while Cincinnati was 11-7 ATS. It was also 7-3-1 ATS on the road this season along with going 2-0 ATS against the Bearcats.

Standout G Khalif Battle is the real deal and should be able to keep pace with the high-tempo Bearcats offense.  Cincinnati is also 1-2 ATS in its last 3 games as a favorite.

Back TEMPLE +4.5 (-105).

Stream select live college basketball games and full replays: Get ESPN+

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 140.5 (-115).

Cincinnati has gone Over in 6 of its last 7 games and has scored at least 85 points in 2 of its last 3 games. It has scored at least 70 points in 9 straight games as well.

It should want to push this pace and keep the Owls on edge. The Bearcats average 77.9 points per game this season. These teams were a combined 19-16-1 O/U in conference games.

Back the OVER 140.5 (-115).
