Cincinnati vs. Dayton odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Cincinnati vs. Dayton odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The No. 20 Cincinnati Bearcats (8-1) and the No. 24 Dayton Flyers (10-2) meet Friday at the Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati in what is technically a neutral-site game. Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. ET (ESPNU). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Cincinnati vs. Dayton odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

This game is being played in Cincinnati, but it is not included in either team’s season-ticket package, and technically considered a neutral-site game.

The last time Cincinnati was ranked while facing another ranked team was in 2019 with the Bearcats topping then-No. 11 Houston 69-57 in the AAC title game. The Bearcats haven’t faced a ranked team this season.

Dayton will be playing a ranked team for the fifth time this season. It has losses against ranked North Carolina Tar Heels and Iowa State Cyclones teams, while it has topped Big East powers in the Marquette Golden Eagles and UConn Huskies.

UC is coming off a 68-65 win over the Xavier Muskateers in the Skyline Chili Crosstown Shootout last Saturday, but the Bearcats have failed to cash in 4 straight outings. The Under is 7-1 in the past 8 games, too.

For the Flyers, they topped UNLV Rebels 66-65 on Tuesday despite the fact they were favored by 10.5 points. Dayton has won 5 in a row, but it is just 2-2 against the spread (ATS) in the past 4 outings. The Under has hit in the previous 2 games.

Cincinnati vs. Dayton picks and predictions

Prediction

Dayton 70, Cincinnati 66

Moneyline

While yes, this game is technically in the Queen City, DAYTON (+135) is easily the more battle-tested team this season. The Flyers won’t be fazed by playing in Cincinnati (-165), and it’s rather surprising to see the team with the better resume as the underdog. Take advantage.

Against the spread

BACK DAYTON +3.5 (-110) catching the points if you can’t trust it straight up. The window isn’t huge, but there is a little wiggle room in the result of a close Cincinnati -3.5 (-110) victory.

Dayton is 6-2 ATS in the past 8 games, and 8-3 ATS on the season, while Cincinnati has failed to cover the past 4 outings. In addition, the Flyers won 82-68 in last season’s resumption of the series, winning outright as a 5.5-point underdog, so there’s that.

Over/Under

UNDER 138.5 (-105) is the lean, but only go with a half-unit play at best.

The Under has dominated for the Flyers, cashing in 7 of the past 8 since an Over result in the opener against the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions.

The Under has hit in the past 2 games for the Bearcats, too, although the Over has dominated for UC for the most part.

Xavier at Cincinnati odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Xavier at Cincinnati odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Cincinnati Bearcats (7-1) welcome the Xavier Musketeers (8-2) to Fifth Third Arena Saturday for the annual Crosstown Shootout. Tip is set for 2 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Xavier vs. Cincinnati odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

Cincinnati, which is No. 23 in the USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll, beat the Howard Bison 84-67 Friday, closing as a 28-point favorite. It lost its first game of the season against the Villanova Wildcats before that. Cincinnati has yet to face a top-25 side and is just 1-1 against the spread (ATS) when a single-digit favorite. It is 4-4 ATS on the season.

The Musketeers beat the Morgan State Bears 119-58 Tuesday, closing as a 29-point home favorite. They are just 2-2 over their last 4 games and are just 1-2 either on the road or on a neutral court. Xavier’s most high-profile game came against No. 14 Michigan as it lost 78-53 Nov. 27. The Musketeers are 4-6 ATS on the season.

Xavier at Cincinnati picks and predictions

Prediction

Cincinnati 74, Xavier 68

Moneyline

PASS.

Both teams have been dominant at home, and Cincinnati will have that advantage. However, it is far too expensive of a favorite to take here.

Against the spread

BET XAVIER +7.5 (-105).

Xavier has had the edge over Cincinnati, winning this rivalry for 5 straight years. The Musketeers have had a single-digit spread 4 times this season and are 2-2 ATS in those.

Cincinnati has consistently won but not covered at home. It is 1-3 ATS in its last 4 home games. The Bearcats have been a single-digit favorite in two games, against Georgia Tech and Villanova, and are averaging just 70.5 points per game in those.

Considering the Musketeers’ dominance in the series and the Bearcats’ home struggles, back XAVIER +7.5 (-105).

Over/Under

BET UNDER 145.5 (-110).

One thing both sides have in common is going Under consistently. The Bearcats are 2-6 O/U this season and have allowed 60 or fewer in all but 2 games.

Xavier is 2-7-1 O/U and 0-2-1 O/U either on a neutral court or on the road. It has allowed 70 or fewer in all but 3 games. With that in mind, back UNDER 145.5 (-110).

Cincinnati at Villanova odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Cincinnati at Villanova odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Cincinnati Bearcats (6-0) and Villanova Wildcats (4-4) tangle Tuesday with the opening tip at Finneran Pavilion at 6:30 p.m. ET (FS1). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Cincinnati vs. Villanova odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

Cincinnati, which is No. 14 in the USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll, last played Wednesday when it defeated the Alabama State Hornets 77-59. The favored-by-28.5 Bearcats led by 27 inside the 5-minute mark but failed to cover after a late run by ASU. UC clobbered the Hornets on the boards, hauling down 14 offensive rebounds and clocking an overall plus-20 in rebounds. The Bearcats have been a double-digit plus in rebounding in 3 of their last 4 games.

Villanova covered as a -19 in its last game, a 72-48 triumph over Rider Broncs on Wednesday. The Wildcats had 15 made 3-pointers and are shooting 43.3% from beyond the arc over their last 3 games. VU has covered in 3 of its last 4 at home.

Cincinnati at Villanova picks and predictions

Prediction

Cincinnati 68, Villanova 65

Moneyline

The Wildcats would be more of a live wire at +160 or better. PASS.

Against the spread

The Bearcats are 2-0 ATS on the road this season, but last season UC went just 3-5 ATS as a road favorite. Since 2020, Cincinnati has gone 7-13 ATS as a road favorite.

Peg Cincy as being due a fairly heavy dose of regression, and that’s a key part of Villanova being the value side of this one. Heading into this game, the Bearcats rank No. 1 in NCAA-I in effective field-goal percentage (61.4%) and defensive effective field-goal percentage (38.5%). And while Cincinnati is talented at both ends of the floor, it figures to be living, in part, on some shooting luck.

Villanova is solid offensively and trending the right way in that department. The Wildcats are an excellent rebounding team (that facet of the game figures to be an evenly-matched, big-body contest on Tuesday), and being a high-frequency perimeter-launch team, their recent 3-point shooting numbers are encouraging.

‘Nova has a fighting chance for an outright win and a better-than-solid probability of keeping a losing margin to one possession. TAKE VILLANOVA +4.5 (-120).

Over/Under

The Under has cashed in 5 consecutive UC games.

Both teams are at the slow end of the pace spectrum, and neither generates many looks from the foul line. A typical second-chance rebounding advantage for both figures to cancel out. And while Cincinnati may be due some defensive regression, it is really good at forcing suboptimal looks on field goals.

In Villanova’s last 5 games as a home underdog, the Under has gone 4-1, and the UNDER 138.5 (-110) is the value side of this game.

Cincinnati at Kansas State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Cincinnati at Kansas State odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Cincinnati Bearcats (5-5, 3-4 Big 12) visit the No. 25 Kansas State Wildcats (7-3, 4-3) Saturday. Kickoff from Bill Snyder Family Stadium is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Cincinnati vs. Kansas State odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Cincinnati has lost each of its last 3 games after falling 34-17 last Saturday against Iowa State and failing to cover as a 7-point road underdog. QB Brendan Sorsby went 10-of-18 for 66 yards while leading the team in rushing with 14 carries for 141 yards and a touchdown in the loss.

Kansas State has lost back-to-back games after falling 24-14 against Arizona State and failing to cover as a 7.5-point home favorite last Saturday. QB Avery Johnson went 24-of-40 for 258 yards and 2 interceptions while RB DJ Giddens carried the ball 14 times for 133 yards in the loss.

Cincinnati at Kansas State picks and predictions

Prediction

Kansas State 31, Cincinnati 27

Moneyline

PASS.

There is minimal value on Kansas State (-350) to win on Saturday at home against a UC team that is 2-3 on the road this season.

Against the spread

BET CINCINNATI +8.5 (-110).

The Wildcats have failed to cover in back-to-back home games and all 4 of their games this season as a 7.5-point-or-more favorite. They have allowed 24 or more points in each of their last 3 games. UC has scored 23 or more points in 3 of its last 4 while going 4-3-1 against the spread (ATS) in its last 8.

Over/Under

BET OVER 53.5 (-110).

The Bearcats have scored 17 or more points in each game this season and 23 or more points in 8 of their 10. They have allowed 31 or more points in each of their last 3.

Cincinnati at Northern Kentucky odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Cincinnati at Northern Kentucky odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Cincinnati Bearcats (3-0) and Northern Kentucky Norse (0-3) tussle Tuesday in Highland Heights, Ky. The cross-river, Cincinnati-area battle at Truist Arena will tip off at 7 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Cincinnati vs. Northern Kentucky odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

Cincinnati, which is No. 16 in the USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll, last played Friday, covering a 27.5-point spread in an 86-49 drubbing of the Nicholls State Colonels. The Bearcats shot 54.1% from the floor, closing out a 57.4% mark through their first 3 contests.

Northern Kentucky last played on Thursday, losing a home game to Nicholls State 61-59 as a 7-point favorite. The Norse shot just 36.5% from the floor and have filed a 34.8% accuracy mark over their first 3 games.

Cincinnati at Northern Kentucky picks and predictions

Prediction

Cincinnati 76, Northern Kentucky 65

Moneyline

No interest. PASS.

Against the spread

UC and NKU met last Nov. 19 and the Bearcats outshot and outrebounded their neighbors to the south by a wide margin. Cincinnati covered a 12.5-point spread in a 90-66 rout.

Northern Kentucky is not a good rebounding team, and if a big shooting advantage holds, this number is solid. But peg bot sides being due a dose of regression, helping the Norse and hindering the Bearcats.

A veteran NKU core facing some youthful UC players getting their first taste of road play this fall makes for a bumpier ride for the Bearcats this time out.

The leverage here is rather slight, though. Consider a partial-unit play on NORTHERN KENTUCKY +14.5 (-120).

Over/Under

Last year’s meeting cruised past an O/U of 137.5, and the last 6 times UC has been a double-digit road favorite, the Over has gone 4-2.

A mid-tempo game flow without an abundance of free throws should be the expectation. But NKU will launch a lot of 3s; any regression bounce from a shaky 24.3% mark so far would make for some points in chunks. And a fair number of second-chance points would seem likely for the Bearcats.

TAKE THE OVER 137.5 (-110).

Cincinnati vs. Iowa State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Cincinnati at Iowa State odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Cincinnati Bearcats (5-4, 3-3 Big 12) meet the No. 25 Iowa State Cyclones (7-2, 4-2)  at Jack Trice Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is at 8 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we look at Cincinnati vs. Iowa State odds from BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Cincinnati’s skid extended to 2 games after a 31-24 loss to West Virginia, who covered as 5-point road underdogs. The Over 54.5 hit, despite the Bearcats outgaining the Mountaineers by 188 yards. Turnovers proved costly, with Cincinnati committing 3. RB Evan Pryor was a standout, hauling in 5 receptions for 100 yards, highlighted by an 80-yard touchdown.

No. 25 Iowa State dropped its 2nd straight game, falling 45-36 to Kansas as 2-point home underdogs. The Over 52.5 cashed as the Cyclones struggled to stop Kansas’ offense, which tallied 295 passing and 237 rushing yards. QB Rocco Becht threw for 383 yards and 3 touchdowns but had a critical interception. WR Jaylin Noel stood out, recording 8 catches for 167 yards and 2 touchdowns in the loss.

Cincinnati vs. Iowa State picks and predictions

Prediction

Iowa State 30, Cincinnati 21

Moneyline

PASS.

Iowa State (-300) takes this game at home Saturday, but instead of laying 3-to-1, I’ll take my bet to the spread.

Against the spread

BET IOWA STATE -7.5 (-110).

Both teams are desperate for a win to end their recent skids, but Iowa State is favored to rebound Saturday and continue its push to surpass last season’s 6-3 conference record. The Cyclones’ defense, led by Jon Heacock, allows just 18.8 points per game, ranking 2nd in the Big 12 and 19th nationally. Becht commands the offense, leading the conference in yards per attempt (8.6) and yards per completion (14.0), with a 16:7 TD-INT ratio. Noel (892 yards, 5 TDs) and WR Jayden Higgins (791 yards, 7 TDs) provide big-play threats. Iowa State is 5-4 ATS this year and handled Cincinnati 30-10 in their last meeting.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 52.5 (-110).

Iowa State and Cincinnati showcase solid defenses this season, with the Cyclones allowing 18.8 points per game (2nd in the Big 12) and the Bearcats giving up 22.2 (6th in the conference). Cincinnati has gone over in 3 of 9 games, including a 1-2-1 record on the road, while Iowa State sits at 5-4 on Overs. The Under looks like the smarter play.

Cincinnati at Colorado picks and predictions

Prediction

Cincinnati 24, Colorado 21

Moneyline

Colorado has scored 28 or more points in 5 straight games and averaged 37 per game in conference play. However, CINCINNATI (+200) has allowed 16 or fewer points in 4 its last 5 games and has given up an average of 17.8 per game in conference play.

The Bearcats have scored 27 or more points in 5 of 7 games.

Colorado has allowed over 30 points in 2 of 4 conference games.

BET CINCINNATI (+200).

Against the spread

The Buffs have covered the spread in 5 straight games. The Bearcats are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 games.

But it comes down to both teams’ defenses. Both offenses score well. Cincinnati’s defense is better, and that should be enough to not only cover, but win outright, so betting the moneyline is huge.

PASS.

Over/Under

Three of Colorado’s 4 conference games have had 59 or more total points.

Cincinnati’s point total has decreased each week this season. They have won their only road game so far this season.

BYU has averaged 35.3 points per game in their last 3 contests. This will be the Cougars’ home conference debut in the Big 12.

BET BYU (+100)

Against the spread

With only a 1.5-point spread, there is only the slightest chance a team wins without covering. BYU is 1-3 ATS through 4 game this season and 2-0 ATS when favored. Cincinnati is 2-2 ATS but has failed to cover the spread in their last 2.

Here, the better play is to stick with the moneyline on BYU. PASS.

Over/Under

Go lightly as the Over has hit in BYU’s last 3 games and all 3 totals reached 50 or more. And 2 of Cincinnati’s 4 games have reached 50 points.

BET UNDER 49.5 (-110).

Oklahoma at Cincinnati odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Oklahoma at Cincinnati odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Cincinnati Bearcats (2-1) make their Big 12 debut when they welcome the No. 14 Oklahoma Sooners (3-0) to Nippert Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is set for noon ET (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Oklahoma vs. Cincinnati odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Oklahoma routed Tulsa on the road last week 66-17, covering as a 28-point favorite. QB Dillon Gabriel had a stellar performance completing 28 of 31 attempts for 421 yards and 5 touchdowns. WR Nic Anderson hauled in 3 receptions for 120 yards and 3 TDs while the Sooners had 6 total TDs through the air. The Sooners have outscored opponents 167-28 in their 3 games this season.

UC, in its 1st season of Big 12 action, suffered its 1st loss of the season, falling 31-24 in overtime against in-state rival and non-conference foe Miami (Ohio) last week. The Bearcats failed to cover as 14-point home favorites. Bearcats QB Emory Jones struggled, going 18 of 34 for 265 yards with 2 interceptions. On the ground, he had 20 carries for 101 yards and a touchdown, while RB Ryan Montgomery finished with 104 yards on 20 carries.

Oklahoma at Cincinnati picks and predictions

Prediction

Oklahoma 38, Cincinnati 13

Moneyline

PASS.

At -600 odds, Oklahoma is the clear favorite. Facing a Bearcats team that fell in OT the previous week to a much lesser Miami (Ohio) opponent, the Sooners should easily take this game.

There is little profit to be made on a -600 ML bet for the favorite here.

Against the spread

BET OKLAHOMA -14 (-110).

Last week, 2 things happened to support this bet.

First, Oklahoma’s offense looked phenomenal. Eleven different receivers pulled in passes — 3 of them eclipsed 100 yards. The Sooners’ strength is their passing game. They rank 6th in the country with 358.0 passing yards per game.

Second, is the liability that lies in the Cincinnati defense. It allowed 3 passing TDs in the loss to Miami (Ohio), including a 79-yard TD on the 1st play of the game. The previous week against Pitt, Cincy they also allowed 3 TDs. Against a high-powered Oklahoma offense, do not expect UC to stay in this game for long.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 56.5 (-110).

While the Oklahoma offense has looked great, so has its defense. Holding opponents to just 28 combined points in its first 3 games, a total of 56.5 seems too high to reasonably bet. While the Bearcats have scored at least 24 points in each of their first 3 games, expect Emory and company to struggle to move the ball leading to the Under hitting.

Cincinnati at Pittsburgh odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Cincinnati at Pittsburgh odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Cincinnati Bearcats (1-0) will square off against the Pittsburgh Panthers (1-0) on Saturday at Acrisure Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET (CW Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Cincinnati vs. Pittsburgh odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Bearcats cruised to a 66-13 victory over Eastern Kentucky in Week 1 to cover as 21.5-point home favorites as Arizona State transfer QB Emory Jones aired it out for 345 yards and 5 TDs. This will be the 1st meeting between Cincinnati and Pittsburgh since 2012, won by the Bearcats 34-10.

Even though the Panthers defeated Wofford 45-7 in Week 1, they pushed as 38-point home favorites. In the season opener, Pittsburgh produced 491 yards of offense compared to Wofford’s 126 yards.

Cincinnati at Pittsburgh picks and predictions

Prediction

Pittsburgh 24, Cincinnati 20

Moneyline

The Panthers should come away with the win at home on Saturday, but I’ll AVOID their moneyline at -300 odds. The risk involved with taking Pittsburgh to win is pretty high against a Cincinnati team that could certainly pull off the upset.

Against the spread

CINCINNATI +7.5 (-115) is how I’d wager on the spread with the Bearcats looking to make a statement on the road. Jones looked great in his debut for Cincinnati and he’ll help keep the game close, but Pittsburgh’s defense will make a crucial stop to secure the victory.

While it’s a new season, the Panthers tallied a 2-5 record ATS at home in 2022.

Over/Under

UNDER 45.5 (-110) is the play in this game as both teams are expected to be strong defensively, though, Cincinnati has a new coaching staff. Last season, the Bearcats and the Panthers both allowed 24.3 or fewer points per game.

Dating back to last season, Cincinnati has also gone 3-7 to the Over in their last 10 games overall. The Bearcats hit the Over in Week 1 against Eastern Kentucky, but the Panthers will be stiffer competition on the road in Week 2.
