DETROIT — After going 1-for-2 with a run scored, Detroit Tigers’ left fielder Christin Stewart was demoted Tuesday.

Stewart, a former first-round draft pick by Detroit out of the University of Tennessee, was demoted to the team’s alternate training site after he got a hit and scored in the Tigers’ 8-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers at Comerica Park.

Stewart was taken by Detroit in first round of the 2015 Major League Baseball draft. He made his Major League debut in 2018 for the Tigers.

The former Vol was batting just .171 with three home runs, three doubles, nine runs batted in and five runs.

Toledo is the home of the Mud Hens, Detroit’s International League (Class AAA) affiliate.

MINNEAPOLIS — Detroit Tigers left fielder Christin Stewart had his modest three-game hitting streak snapped in his team’s 3-2 loss to the Minnesota Twins Friday night at Target Field.

Stewart, a former University of Tennessee baseball player, went 0-for-2 in the second game of a double-header.

The Tigers (17-19) also lost the first game 2-0 to the Twins on Friday afternoon.

Stewart went 1-for-2 in that contest. He is now batting a paltry .192 this season.

He has three home runs and three doubles in 2020, while scoring five runs and driving in nine this year.

The former Tennessee standout is currently in his third season in Detroit and has a career batting average of .231.

Stewart, who went 0-for-3, has not had a hit in his last five games. He is now been held hitless in his last 13 at-bats and is no longer an everyday player for Detroit (10-15).

He last picked up a hit in the Tigers’ game against the Indians in Detroit on Aug. 15.

CINCINNATI — Former University of Tennessee baseball player Christin Stewart went 0-for-3 with a walk for the Detroit Tigers in their 6-4 victory over the Cincinnati Reds Saturday at Great American Ball Park.

Stewart, who entered the 2020 season with a .238 lifetime batting average with 12 home runs and 50 RBIs, also went 0-for-2 with a walk in the Tigers’ 7-2 loss to the Reds Friday night in the season opener for both teams.

Stewart was a first-round pick for Detroit in the 2015 Major League Baseball draft. He was the 34th overall selection.

The former Vol made his Major League debut for the Tigers on Sept. 9, 2018.

He was Detroit’s Minor League Player of the Year in 2016.
