The road atmosphere the Cardinals fans will provide unlikely will be anymore forgiving though. That’s why the Irish must prepare for any and all possibilities.

However, it didn’t matter because it took only one quarter for Tyree to receiver a similarly long touchdown pass from [autotag]Sam Hartman[/autotag]. In fact, it was a full yard longer than Merriweather’s reception:

You have to love how well Tyree has played in the first part of this season in his new position. You never would have known he was a running back a year ago if you had just started following the Irish this season. That’s how effective he’s been.

Notre Dame not only got through its first real test of 2023, but it stepped on the gas against NC State to show how talented it is.

Up next is Central Michigan, which should provide a bit of a breather. More importantly, it will serve as a tuneup for when Ohio State comes to South Bend the following week.

Needing a big offensive play before halftime, the Irish got it on a 65-yard pass from [autotag]Sam Hartman[/autotag] to [autotag]Chris Tyree[/autotag]. One play later, Hartman hit [autotag]Jaden Greathouse[/autotag] from 12 yards out for a big score:

Just when it seemed like the Wolfpack were going to go into the locker room with all the momentum, Hartman took control of the situation in a collected manner. The result is the Irish had a 17-7 halftime lead. That’s what you want to see in a leader, and Hartman is one of them. Of course, Greathouse had to make the play, and he’s shown he’s good at that, too.

After trouncing Navy and Tennessee State, the Irish have to hit the road for the first time this year (I know the game against the Midshipmen wasn’t in South Bend, but it was still considered a home game) to face NC State.

Notre Dame dominated its first two opponents in Navy and Tennessee State. Some might be wondering if a challenge will show up anytime soon. We’ll see if one exists when the Irish travel to NC State for their first true road game of the season. Here are those most likely to push the Irish over the top, specifically those who lead the major statistical categories:

Now, we get to see if the Irish can repeat that performance or at least mimic it in their home opener against Tennessee State.
