Jets elevate OL Chris Glaser, sign DL Tanzel Smart to practice squad

The Jets have elevated offensive lineman Chris Glaser from the practice squad for Week 4 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Glaser will be the 8th offensive lineman for Sunday.

This is the second elevation from the practice squad for Glaser. The first was last week against the New England Patriots. A team can elevate and send a player back from the practice squad three times before having to sign him to the active roster.

The Jets also brought back defensive lineman Tanzel Smart on the practice squad. To make room, the Jets released kicker Austin Seibert. With Greg Zuerlein healthy, the Jets don’t need a second kicker on the roster. Seibert kicked in place of the injured Zuerlein in Week 2 against the Cowboys. He kicked a 34-yard field goal and converted an extra point.

Chiefs waive OL Chris Glaser to make room for LT Orlando Brown Jr.

The #Chiefs needed a spot on the 90-man roster for Orlando Brown Jr. and now they have it.

The Kansas City Chiefs have officially added LT Orlando Brown Jr. to the 90-man offseason roster.

In order to do so, Brown Jr. had to sign his franchise tag tender. The team also had to make a procedural move to create space on the roster. According to a team PR representative, the Chiefs waived UDFA OL Chris Glaser to free up a roster spot.

The undrafted free agent offensive lineman out of Virginia was one of two rookie minicamp tryouts that the team ended up signing. Just 22 years old, Glaser was one of the youngest undrafted rookies the team had added. He had experience playing both guard spots, with 44 career starts with the Cavaliers since 2017.

It’s a little surprising to see the team keep as much tackle depth as they have with Brown Jr. back in the fold and practicing. They seem to feel quite comfortable with the depth they have on the interior offensive line to release a young developmental prospect like Glaser.

Brown Jr. is officially out at practice with the team on Tuesday, but he will be participating sparingly as he gets acclimated over the next few days.

Chiefs to sign rookie minicamp tryout OL Chris Glaser

The #Chiefs are set to sign Virginia OL Chris Glaser following his tryout at rookie minicamp this weekend.

The Kansas City Chiefs have continued their tradition of adding players to the roster following tryouts at rookie minicamp.

After spending the past three days grinding at the Chiefs’ rookie minicamp, former Virginia OL Chris Glaser earned a contract with the team. Glaser announced on his social media channels that he had signed a contract with Kansas City. He clearly did enough during the three days of practice and team meetings to make an impression on the coaching staff.

Check out his announcement down below:

Glaser is listed at 6-4 and 306 pounds and is just 22 years old, making him one of the youngest tryout players at rookie minicamp. He has experience playing both right and left guard during his time at UVA, with 44 career starts on the offensive line since 2017.

The rookie continued to play the offensive interior with the Chiefs during minicamp this weekend. Kansas City has a need for interior offensive line depth, so it’s not a huge surprise to see them make this addition. This is just the first step for a player like Glaser, though. He’ll need to continue to impress throughout OTAs and minicamp if he’s to keep his spot on the team.

With the roster currently at 90 players, the Chiefs will need to make a corresponding move to free up roster space. Also, expect a few more tryout players to potentially sign contracts with the team out of minicamp.
