Falcons release WR Chris Blair in first wave of roster cuts

#Falcons cut 13 players, including WR Chris Blair, ahead of 53-man roster deadline

The Atlanta Falcons have started to trim their roster ahead of the NFL’s 53-man deadline, releasing 13 players on Sunday, including wide receiver Chris Blair, linebacker Donavan Mutin and safety Lukas Denis. Blair was the most surprising due to the team’s lack of depth at the wide receiver position.

The 26-year-old was Atlanta’s most productive receiver in the preseason, leading the team with 154 receiving yards. Blair had success with the XFL during the 2023 season, recording 25 catches for 594 receiving yards and three touchdowns for the DC Defenders.

Blair spent time on the Falcons’ practice squad last year and is a prime candidate to return in 2024 if he doesn’t sign elsewhere. Mutin dominated Friday’s preseason finale, recording a team-high 18 combined tackles against the Jaguars.

As for Denis, he had a shot to make the team before Atlanta signed safety Justin Simmons. Linebacker Bradlee Anae, who recorded the team’s only sack in Friday’s preseason finale, was among the 13 players released on Sunday.

Falcons announce practice squad elevations for Week 12

The Falcons have elevated WR Chris Blair and TE Parker Hesse from the practice squad for Sunday’s game against the Saints

The Atlanta Falcons (4-6) have elevated two players from the practice squad for their Week 12 matchup against the New Orleans Saints (5-5). Wide receiver Chris Blair and tight end Parker Hesse will join the team’s 53-man roster on Sunday.

Atlanta added kicker Matthew Wright to the practice squad on Thursday but with Younghoe Koo (back) feeling better, there was no need to elevate Wright for Week 12.

The Falcons have a chance to leapfrog the Saints in the standings with a win this weekend. Currently, New Orleans is a 1.5-point favorite over Atlanta.

Check out the team’s updated 53-man roster, depth chart and injury report heading into Week 12.

Packers cut wide receiver Chris Blair to make room for TE Eli Wolf

To make room for the addition of tight end Eli Wolf, who was claimed off of waivers on Wednesday, the Green Bay Packers released wide receiver Chris Blair.

To make room for the addition of tight end Eli Wolf, who was claimed off of waivers on Wednesday, the Green Bay Packers released wide receiver Chris Blair.

Blair, 24, was originally signed by the Packers in January of 2021. He went undrafted out of Alcorn State. After spending time on the team’s practice squad last season, Blair returned to the roster on a futures deal in January of this year.

The Packers restocked at receiver over the last few months, signing Sammy Watkins in free agency, drafting three wide receivers (Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Samori Toure) and adding Danny Davis as an undrafted free agent out of Wisconsin.

Without Blair, the Packers will have 11 receivers on the roster.
