Why Kansas City Chiefs Will Win

Kansas City isn’t screwing up enough to give anyone a break.

The offense is the Kansas City offense, and the defense continues to be fantastic – allowing 20 points or fewer in every game but two – but it all works partially because the team is so air-tight with the ball. KC hasn’t turned the ball over more than once yet this year, Patrick Mahomes has only thrown one pick, and the Raiders won’t get any help.

The forced five takeaways in last week’s win over Denver, and just five before that.

Why Las Vegas Raiders Will Win

The Raider running game has kicked it into high gear.

The 144 yards in the win over Kansas City back in mid-October were great, but they’ve dominated over the last few weeks with two 200-yard days in the last three and 160 against the Chargers. The KC D gets hammered against the run, and the Raiders are about to get nasty once again, starting with …

Fantasy Football Player To Watch

RB Josh Jacobs, Las Vegas
Jacobs has been a workhorse as the season has gone on, and it’s working with two 100-yard games in the last three with three touchdowns in the last two games. There’s one problem – he’s splitting time with Devontae Booker, who’s taking carries away at the goal line.

What’s Going To Happen

How did Las Vegas pull off the 40-32 win over KC a month ago? It ran well, tree better, and it upped the offensive production and outgained the Chiefs. The Raider offense is rolling, and the same formula will work. The running game will hammer away against a Kansas City defensive front that’s going to give up 150 yards.

Week 5 Revisited: How Derek Carr and the Raiders beat Kansas City

Looking back at how Derek Carr and the Raiders passing game had success against the Chiefs in Week 5.

Week 11 of the NFL season provides football fans with a fascinating rematch on Sunday Night Football. When the Kansas City Chiefs visit Las Vegas to take on the Raiders not only will a longtime AFC West rivalry be renewed, but it will give the Raiders a chance to give the Chiefs only their second loss of the season, after beating them back in Week 5.

In that victory, Derek Carr and the Raiders passing game showed the ability to get more vertical. The Las Vegas quarterback completed 22 of 31 passes for 347 yards and three touchdowns, against one interception, and posted an NFL passer rating of 126.7 in the 40-32 victory. That week, Carr also averaged 9.0 Intended Air Yards (IAY) per passing attempt, well above his average of 6.3 from 2019 and above his current 2020 average of 7.8.

In this video breakdown, we’ll see how Carr connected with receivers downfield, some breakdowns in the Kansas City secondary, and perhaps a flavor for what to expect Sunday night:

Back in Week 5 this game was a bit of a shootout, with the Raiders coming out on top. Given the COVID-19 concerns on the defensive side of the football for Las Vegas, they might need to win in a shootout again. As we saw just a few weeks ago, they have done it before.

Why Kansas City Will Win

This is the game to get the running game going. Las Vegas is last in the NFL in rushing touchdowns allowed along with the 554 yards given up on the ground. For a Kansas City offense that’s been brutally effective in all phases and is ninth in the league on the ground, it can do just about anything it wants to. It’s controlling the clock, it’s great on defense, and it’s all clicking. However …

CFN Experts Picks: NFL

Why Las Vegas Will Win

The Kansas City run defense can be gouged. The Raiders are great on the ground when they commit to running it, and this is the game to do it. The offense leads the NFL in play per drive – it’s good at grinding things out considering the third down conversions aren’t as strong as they should be – but Derek Carr hasn’t thrown an interception and the passing game is consistent enough to keep up.

Fantasy Football Player To Watch

RB Josh Jacobs, Las Vegas
After the sluggish offensive performance against the Patriots on Monday night, the Chiefs get a Raiders team that held them to the lowest yardage total of the season for the Super Bowl Champs – it was a KC blowout, though. Expect a heavy dose of Jacobs, who averaged 102 rushing yards in the two games against the Chiefs last year.

What’s Going To Happen

Las Vegas might have the right mix to pull this off. It’s great at slowing games down and coming up with long drives, it has the ability to get physical with the KC offensive front, and it’s got the overall attitude. However, it doesn’t win the turnover battles and it doesn’t have enough of a pass rush to survive in the second half.
