The Chicago White Sox (40-57) and New York Mets (45-50) wrap up their 3-game series in the Big Apple Thursday. First pitch at Citi Field is slated for 1:10 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the White Sox vs. Mets and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Mets lead 2-0

The White Sox are 2-3 during their current 9-game road trip after their 5-1 loss Wednesday night to the Mets. They are allowing over 6 runs per game since the All-Star break. Chicago has struggled against the National League losing 16 of their 26 games this season.

Justin Verlander allowed 1 run over 8 strong innings to lead the Mets to their 3rd straight victory. New York struggles to score runs at home, producing just over 4 runs per game which is 9th worst in MLB. They are just 2 games above .500 at Citi Field this season.

White Sox at Mets picks and predictions

Prediction

White Sox 6, Mets 4

Moneyline

BET WHITE SOX (+120).

We have not seen Quintana take the mound since October when he pitched against the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2022 postseason. I’ll take the plus odds on the team facing the pitcher making his first start in 9 months.

Run line/Against the spread

AVOID.

While I like the White Sox to win, I’m not going to bet them at -160 despite getting the run and a half. Definitely not going to take the Mets to cover the run line with Quintana making his season debut.

Over/Under

BET OVER 9.5 (+100).

I fully expect Quintana to struggle in his 1st start of the season. The White Sox hit .255 against lefties. And Kopech did not even make it through the 1st inning in his last start on Friday night.

These two teams put up 21 runs combined in Game 1 of this series.
