Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Chicago White Sox (21-31) and Detroit Tigers (23-25) meet Friday for the 2nd game of a 4-game series at Comerica Park. First pitch is slated for 6:40 p.m. ET (Apple TV+). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the White Sox vs. Tigers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Detroit leads 1-0

Chicago mustered just 4 hits in a 7-2 series-opening loss Thursday. The White Sox entered the series with a .542 OPS over their last 7 road games.

Detroit took 2 of 3 contests from the Kansas City Royals in a Monday-Wednesday set in K.C., so the Bengals are now 3-1 over their last 4 games. That comes on the heels of a 3-5 spell from May 12-21 where Detroit logged a .594 OPS.

White Sox at Tigers projected starters

RHP Lance Lynn vs. LHP Joey Wentz

Lynn (3-5, 6.28 ERA) makes his 11th start. He owns a 1.47 WHIP, 3.0 BB/9 and 10.5 K/9 through 57 1/3 IP.

  • Has held current Detroit batters to an aggregate .543 OPS
  • Has twirled 6-plus innings in 4 of his last 5 starts
  • Has been hurt by a .344 batting average on balls in play (BABIP), 63% left-on-base rate and 19.7% home runs/fly balls (HR/FB) mark

Wentz (1-4, 7.45 ERA) is tabbed for his 10th start. He has logged a 1.63 WHIP, 3.3 BB/9 and 7.2 K/9 through 38 2/3 IP.

  • Clocked a 3.03 ERA over 32 2/3 IP as a rookie in 2022

White Sox at Tigers picks and predictions

Prediction

White Sox 5, Tigers 3

Moneyline

Chicago’s schedule was difficult early, and that has the White Sox down a couple more pegs than they should be on the standings board.

Detroit is 8-4 in 1-run games — usually a regression indicator when not aligned with overall win percentage — and the back end of its bullpen enters Friday in overuse territory.

The Chicago bullpen has done well in getting ground balls while avoiding hard contact. Its .318 BABIP and 14.9% HR/FB rate are indicators that its 5.21 ERA  is headed for better days.

Lynn has really been beaten up around the margins. A couple of well respected expected-ERA figures peg him as being perhaps 2 1/2 runs better than what shows in his surface ERA.

Chicago is the lean, but is only a viable leverage play at -145 or better. Otherwise, PASS.

Run line/Against the spread

Chicago’s offense has struggled of late with a .652 OPS since May 10, so there is some risk here. But WHITE SOX -1.5 (+112) is worth a partial-unit look (fully vested at +120).

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

With the offenses in play, a Lynn rebound gives the Under a value chance. BACK THE UNDER 8.5 (-102).

Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Chicago White Sox (21-30) and Detroit Tigers (22-25) meet Thursday to open a 4-game series at Comerica Park. First pitch is slated for 6:40 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the White Sox vs. Tigers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Chicago won last year’s series 12-7

The White Sox opened a 7-game road trip by taking 2 of 3 games at the Cleveland Guardians. Chicago is 5-1 over its last 6 games, thanks in large part to a 1.36 ERA and 0.75 WHIP its pitchers have recorded over that span.

Detroit took 2 of 3 contests from the Kansas City Royals in a Monday-Wednesday set in K.C. The Tigers have batted just .215 with runners in scoring position (RISP), but that’s alongside a .255 batting average on balls in play (BABIP), so they’re a group that might be able to climb out of MLB’s bottom-5 in scoring (3.66 runs per game, 27th) with some normalized results.

White Sox at Tigers projected starters

RHP Lucas Giolito vs. RHP Alex Faedo

Giolito (3-3, 3.62 ERA) makes his 11th start. He has a 1.12 WHIP, 1.8 BB/9 and 9.1 K/9 through 59 2/3 IP.

  • Has registered a 2.66 ERA and 0.97 WHIP over his last 8 starts
  • Facing a Tigers club that has scuffled against right-handed pitching (.643 OPS)

Faedo (0-2, 4.60 ERA) makes his 4th start. He has a 0.83 WHIP, 0.6 BB/9 and 6.9 K/9 through 15 2/3 IP.

  • The 27-year-old sophomore joined the rotation May 7; made 12 starts as a rookie in 2022
  • Has been struggling with home runs (5 in 15 2/3 IP)

White Sox at Tigers picks and predictions

Prediction

White Sox 4, Tigers 3

Moneyline

Chicago had a tough opening month with a difficult schedule and may be better than we think. A 12-10 record against .500-and-below foes corroborates that thought.

Detroit is 8-4 in 1-run games — usually a regression indicator when out of whack with overall win percentage — and its bullpen could use an off day. The ChiSox ‘pen has done well in getting ground balls while avoiding hard contact and its .317 BABIP and large rate of flies landing as home runs (15.1%) are indicators that its surface ERA (5.19) is headed for better days.

Giolito and that bullpen facing a Detroit offense that struggles vs. right-handed pitchers give Chicago a should-be win percentage around the 60% level. Consider a partial-unit play on the WHITE SOX (-142). Go in full at -140 or better.

Run line/Against the spread

Chicago’s offense has a .652 OPS since May 10 and has not earned the trust to work this play through on the run line. PASS.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

Both sides have runs scored and allowed figures that could well be fluctuating forward and backward with some expected regression. The number here is not one to be picked apart with analytics. PASS.

Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Chicago White Sox (74-70) face the divisional-foe Detroit Tigers (54-89) Friday in the opener of a 3-game set at Comerica Park. First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the White Sox vs. Tigers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: White Sox lead 10-3

The White Sox have turned it up a notch of late as they’re 7-3 over the last 10 games. They remain 3 games behind the Cleveland Guardians for the AL Central lead, which is their best shot at punching their postseason ticket. They’re 6 1/2 games out of an AL wild-card spot.

The Tigers’ rough stretch continues as they’ve lost 4 in a row and 13 of 20. They’re taking a look at some young guys and trying to build for next season. Detroit has managed just 4 runs in the last 4 games.

White Sox at Tigers projected starters

RHP Lucas Giolito vs. RHP Matt Manning

Giolito (10-9, 5.18 ERA) makes his 27th start. He has a 1.49 WHIP, 3.4 BB/9 and 9.9 K/9 in 139 IP.

  • Has a 5.50 ERA last 7 starts
  • 3 starts vs. Detroit this year: 1-1, 4.58 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 10.7 K/9

Manning (2-2, 3.73 ERA) makes his 11th start. He has a 1.22 WHIP, 2.5 BB/9 and 6.9 K/9 in 50 2/3 IP.

  • Aug. 13 vs. White Sox: 5 IP, 10 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 5 K
  • Feast or famine: 3 gems of 6-7 IP with 1 or fewer ER and a few clunkers mixed in the last 7 GS

White Sox at Tigers picks and predictions

Prediction

White Sox 6, Tigers 4

Money line

I’ve faded Giolito a lot this season because he just hasn’t had command all year. He still has the swing-and-miss stuff, though, and I love LUCAS GIOLITO OVER 5.5 STRIKEOUTS (-135) Friday.

The Tigers are 21st in strikeouts/game, and they have been whiffing more as the season has progressed with guys in and out of the lineup. He has fanned 6, 8 and 7 Tigers in his 3 starts against them this year. Bank on that, and you can throw a HALF-UNIT at WHITE SOX (-160).

Run line/Against the spread

One thing you can count on is Giolito giving up 2 ER. He has done so in 18 of 26 starts this year. He allowed at least 4 ER to the Tigers in 2 of 3 starts, but the ChiSox bats should overcome that. Having said that, I have some pause on the RL with Giolito on the bump. PASS.

Over/Under

The Tigers are bad offensively, but Giolito has helped them out. I’m honestly surprised this number isn’t 8.5. The White Sox are 5-4-1 O/U over the last 10, and the Tigers are 5-3-2 O/U. The wind is blowing in from right-center field at 8 mph, but that shouldn’t matter much.

The Over is 4-0-1 in Giolito’s last 5 starts vs. a team with a losing record. The Over is 34-14-4 in the last 52 meetings in Detroit. Take the OVER 7.5 (-115).

Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Chicago White Sox (27-31) limp into the Motor City to face the Detroit Tigers (24-35) Monday in the 1st of a 3-game set at Comerica Park. First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the White Sox vs. Tigers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: Chicago leads 2-1.

Chicago has lost 4 of 5 after dropping the last 2 games in extra innings against the Texas Rangers. Things have gotten so bad, the fans have been chanting for Hall of Fame manager Tony La Russa’s job. This is a series that can turn everything around. It starts with the season debut of ace RHP Lance Lynn, who underwent knee surgery in spring training.

The Tigers got off to a bad start, but they have won 11 of the last 20 and are a respectable (for their standards) 16-17 at home and 11-11 against AL Central opponents. Detroit hitters have struggled the last week. SS Javier Baez had a slash line of .188/.316/.250 (BA/OBP/SLG) and DH Miguel Cabrera‘s was .158/.158/.158.

White Sox at Tigers projected starters

RHP Lance Lynn vs. RHP Rony Garcia

Lynn (0-0, 0.00 ERA) makes his 1st start of the season off the injured list. He was 11-6 with a 2.69 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, 2.6 BB/9 and 10.1 K/9 in 157 innings last year. He finished third in the AL Cy Young voting.

  • Was 3-0 with a 1.59 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 4.2 BB/9, 10.1 K/9 in 3 starts against Detroit last year.
  • Had a 1.35 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 7 K’s in 6 2/3 innings in 3 rehab starts in the minors. He didn’t walk a batter.
  • Current Tigers are hitting .183 with a 25.2 K% in 103 plate appearances against Lynn.

Garcia (0-1, 4.50 ERA) makes his 4th start (12th game). He has a 1.00 WHIP, 2.3 BB/9 and a 10.6 K/9 in 28 IP.

  • Had a no-decision in last start, June 5 at the New York Yankees, allowing 2 R, 4 H, 1 BB with 4 K in 5 IP.
  • Has a 9.82 ERA in 5 relief outings against the White Sox in his career.
  • Current White Sox hitters have hit .350 with a .554 expected weighted on-base average in 21 plate appearances against him.

White Sox at Tigers picks and predictions

Prediction

White Sox 7, Tigers 3

Money line

There is a 42.9% chance of rain, and a gust of wind blowing in at 10.1 mph, which will be factors here. That may be what’s keeping the White Sox’s money line below -150. There’s a lot to like on the White Sox’s side as this is a series they’ll be looking to sweep as they’re 6 games back in the division and 3 1/2 out of the wild card. Lynn’s return should create an emotional boost, and he’s a presence in the dugout. Go with the WHITE SOX -145 or HAMMER WHITE SOX FIRST 9 INNINGS (incl. Tie) -122.

Run line/Against the spread

I think the White Sox roll in this one. If there’s any hesitance because it’s Lynn’s first start, try this on for size. His first start of 2021, he didn’t allow an earned run (2 unearned) in 4 2/3 innings. Lynn threw a 5-hit, 11-K shutout in his next start. His first start after the first half of 2020 was wiped out: he threw 6 shutout innings with 9 K’s. He may give up some runs in this one, but Chicago has pummeled Garcia in relief work the last couple of years. LEAN WHITE SOX -1.5 (+115).

Over/Under

I would be all for the Over here if the chance of rain were lower. The Over has cashed in 4 straight for the White Sox and in 2 of the 3 previous meetings between these teams. For now, we’ll PASS, but if the forecast clears up before first pitch I would consider an Over.

Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Chicago White Sox (85-66) and Detroit Tigers (74-78) wrap up their three-game series Wednesday afternoon at Comerica Park. First pitch will be at 1:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze the lines around the White Sox vs. Tigers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

White Sox RHP Reynaldo Lopez (3-3, 3.00 ERA) makes his eighth start and 18th appearance. He has a 0.94 WHIP, 2.3 BB/9 and 8.8 K/9 through 48 IP.

  • Allowed 7 runs (6 earned) over only 4 innings in his last start, against the Los Angeles Angels, though he did strike out 7 batters. He has a 6.43 ERA over four outings this month.
  • Has not pitched more than 5 innings in a single appearance this season but allowed more than 3 runs only once.

Tigers RHP Casey Mize (7-8, 3.64 ERA) makes his 29th start. He has a 1.14 WHIP, 2.6 BB/9 and 7.0 K/9 through 143 1/3 IP.

  • Mize has pitched a total of just 8 innings across his last three appearances while allowing 4 earned runs and striking out 7 in that stretch.
  • The Tigers are only 3-5 across his last eight starts, though he allowed more than 3 runs just once in August and September.

Prediction

Tigers 5, White Sox 4

Money line (ML)

The Tigers have won four straight games against the White Sox, including Tuesday’s 5-3 victory at home. They aren’t scoring a ton of runs, but the pitching staff has been effective.

Mize hasn’t been going deep into games but the Tigers bullpen has been decent and should be able to hold the White Sox in check again.

Bet the TIGERS (+140) to win.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

In their last nine games, the Tigers have covered the spread seven times, winning seven of those games straight up. They are 77-54 ATS as underdogs, so they’re used to getting runs on the spread.

I like the TIGERS +1.5 (-110) to cover with the way they’ve been pitching. If they can hold the White Sox to 4 or fewer runs, they should be able to keep the game close.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Under is favored pretty significantly at -130. That’s because the total went Under in four of the White Sox’s last five and in seven of the Tigers’ last eight games. Chicago scored more than 3 runs only twice in its last seven games, while Detroit hasn’t topped 5 runs since Sept. 12.

Bet the UNDER 9.5 (-130).

Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Chicago White Sox and Detroit Tigers odds and lines, with expert MLB picks and predictions.

The Chicago White Sox (85-65) and Detroit Tigers (73-78) play the second game of their three-game series Tuesday afternoon at Comerica Park, with the first pitch coming at 1:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze the lines around the White Sox vs. Tigers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

White Sox LHP Dallas Keuchel (8-9, 5.23 ERA) makes his 29th start and 30th appearance. He has a 1.47 WHIP, 3.3 BB/9 and 5.4 K/9 through 151 1/3 IP.

  • Keuchel has struggled this month, posting a 7.36 ERA through three September starts. He allowed 12 earned runs in his last 14 2/3 innings, with just 7 strikeouts and 8 walks.
  • In two starts against the Tigers this season, Kuechel allowed 8 runs across 10 innings with 5 strikeouts and 4 walks.

Tigers LHP Tyler Alexander (2-3, 4.13 ERA) makes his 13th start and 39th appearance. He has a 1.27 WHIP, 2.3 BB/9 and 7.6 K/9 through 89 1/3 IP.

  • Hasn’t pitched more than 5 2/3 innings in five outings since Aug. 20 but allowed just 8 earned runs over his last 24 1/3 innings.
  • He has allowed 3 earned runs over 8 innings out of the bullpen against the White Sox this season.

Prediction

White Sox 6, Tigers 3

Money line (ML)

The White Sox have dropped three straight games to the Tigers after losing 4-3 Monday.

This is a winnable game for them with Anderson on the bump for Detroit. He’s not going to go deep into this game, and with Chicago’s bats, the White Sox should be able to get into the bullpen relatively early.

Bet the WHITE SOX (-170) to win outright.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

Yes, the White Sox have been bad against the spread lately, going just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games. The Tigers, on the other hand, are 7-3 in that same stretch. Chicago should be able to put enough runs across to make up for Keuchel’s potential struggles on the road.

I like the WHITE SOX -1.5 (+100) to win by at least 2 runs.

Over/Under (O/U)

Keuchel showed some signs of turning things around in his last start, in allowing only 2 runs in 6 innings against the Los Angeles Angels.

Though he still hasn’t won a start since Aug. 16, and has just two victories since the middle of June, he’ll keep the Tigers in check.

Bet the UNDER 9.5 (-130).

Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Sunday’s Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Chicago White Sox (49-33) and Detroit Tigers (37-46) play the finale of a three-game set Sunday at Comerica Park. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the White Sox vs. Tigers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Lucas Giolito is the projected starting pitcher for the White Sox. He is 6-5 with a 3.84 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 10.7 K/9 and 2.9 BB/9 in 93 2/3 IP over 16 starts.

Giolito enters with quality starts in each of his past four outings, although his only victory during the span was his last time out Tuesday against the Minnesota Twins. He is 0-2 with a 4.58 ERA with four walks and 25 strikeouts in 19 2/3 innings across three starts against the Tigers in 2021.

RHP Matt Manning is the projected starting pitcher for the Tigers. He is 1-2 with an 8.16 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, 3.8 K/9 and 2.5 BB/9 in 14 1/3 IP over three starts.

Manning was trampled for nine earned runs, nine hits with no walks and two strikeouts across 3 2/3 innings in a loss at the Cleveland Indians Monday. This will be his first career appearance against the White Sox.

  • Money line: White Sox -200 (bet $200 to win $100) | Tigers +165 (bet $100 to win $165)
  • Against the spread/ATS: White Sox -1.5 (-120) | Tigers +1.5 (+100)
  • Over/Under: 8.5 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Prediction

White Sox 6, Tigers 3

Money line (ML)

The WHITE SOX (-200) look for the bounce-back game after the Tigers (+165) surprised them 11-5 in Saturday’s middle game. The loss snapped a five-game win streak for Chicago, although they’re still 9-2 across the past 11 against Detroit.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The WHITE SOX -1.5 (-120) are the lean here, even though Giolito has had his issues topping the Tigers +1.5 (+100) this season. However, it’s more a lack of offensive support rather than anything he is doing, as is evidenced by his outstanding 25/4 strikeouts-to-walks ratio against Detroit this season.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 8.5 (-120) is the slight lean here, as Manning was very giving last time out against the Indians. The White Sox will be looking to take out some frustrations after an embarrassing rout Saturday.

The Over is a perfect 6-0 in the past six for the ChiSox, and 37-15-4 in the past 56 meetings between these two AL Central rivals in Detroit.

Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Chicago White Sox (49-32) and Detroit Tigers (36-46) play the second game of a three-game set Saturday at Comerica Park. First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the White Sox at Tigers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

LHP Dallas Keuchel is the projected starting pitcher for the White Sox. He is 6-2 with a 3.96 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, 5.5 K/9 and 2.8 BB/9 in 86 1/3 IP over 15 starts and 1 relief appearance.

Keuchel allowed six hits with a walk and four strikeouts across five relief innings last time out Saturday against the Mariners in his first relief appearance since Aug. 6, 2013.

The southpaw allowed just one earned run, five hits and a walk with three strikeouts over six innings in a no-decision against the Tigers June 4.

LHP Tarik Skubal is the projected starting pitcher for the Tigers. He is 4-7 with a 4.06 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, 10.9 K/9 and 4.2 BB/9 in 77 2/3 IP over 14 starts and 2 relief appearances.

Skubal didn’t win last time out, but he had perhaps his best start of the season against the Houston Astros Sunday. He allowed just one run, one hit and three walks with nine strikeouts in the no-decision.

Skubal is 1-0 with a 3.27 ERA in two starts across 11 innings against the White Sox this season.

  • Money line: White Sox -120 (bet $120 to win $100) | Tigers +100 (bet $100 to win $100)

  • Over/Under: 9 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Prediction

White Sox 6, Tigers 4

Money line (ML)

The WHITE SOX (-120) look to win a sixth consecutive game, and they enter play on a 9-1 run against the Tigers (+100). Chicago is also 4-1 in Keuchel’s past five starts, and he has three victories during that span.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The WHITE SOX -1.5 (+125) are the play on the run line. They covered the run line in Friday’s series opener, an 8-2 win, and four of their five victories during their win streak have been by two or more runs. Seven of their nine wins over the Tigers have been by two or more runs, too.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 9 (-110) is the lean here. The Over has connected in four in a row for the White Sox, including Friday’s series opener, and the Over is also 4-0 in their past four against a left-handed starting pitcher.

While the Under has dominated for the Tigers lately, the Over is 35-15-4 in the previous 54 meetings between these teams in the Motor City.

Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Sunday’s Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Chicago White Sox (40-24) and Detroit Tigers (26-38) put a lid on a three-game AL Central series Sunday with a 1:10 p.m. ET first pitch at Comerica Park. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the White Sox vs. Tigers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

LHP Carlos Rodon is the projected starting pitcher for the White Sox. He is 5-2 with a 1.96 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, 13.3 K/9, and 2.3 BB/9 in 59 2/3 IP over 10 starts.

Rodon has held foes to 1 ER or less in eight of his 10 starts this season. That includes an April 29 gem against these Tigers where he went 6 IP allowing 1 ER on 2 H and 1 BB while adding 12 K.

RHP Kyle Funkhouser is the projected starter for the Tigers. He is 0-0 with a 2.70 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, 7.6 K/9, and 3.8 BB/9 in 16 2/3 IP over 13 relief appearances.

Sunday’s tilt will mark Funkhouser’s first Major League start, where the righty is slated to be the opener in a bullpen game.

White Sox at Tigers odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 11:46 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: White Sox -240 (bet $240 to win $100) | Tigers +195 (bet $100 to win $195)
  • Against the spread/ATS: White Sox -2.5 (+100) | Tigers 2.5 (-120)
  • Over/Under: 9 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Prediction

White Sox 7, Tigers 4

Money line (ML)

The Pale Hose have taken the first two games of this series and have won 7 of 9 against Detroit this season.

Chicago is a lean here even with the big tag and Rodon likely being a tad overrated due to his surface ERA being aided by some generous rates around the margins. Prices over (-225) sometimes get artificially deflated because of bettors just not buying into 75% expected-win scenarios in a game with so much random fluctuation.

But the WHITE SOX (-240) against a Tigers club set to use their bad bullpen for the game is a workable play.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The 2-and-a-half-run line is worth a look for bettors who want to assume less risk. Chicago is the much better club all around and is playing good ball.

BACK THE WHITE SOX -2.5 (+100).

Over/Under (O/U)

TAKE OVER 9 (-115). Fading Rodon to a small degree mixes into a shaky plan for the Tigers, a good-hitting White Sox order, and a forecast of an outward-to-center breeze.

Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Chicago White Sox (39-24) and Detroit Tigers (26-37) play the middle game of a three-game AL Central series Saturday with a 4:10 p.m. ET first pitch at Comerica Park. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the White Sox vs. Tigers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Dylan Cease is the projected starting pitcher for the White Sox. He is 4-2 with a 3.36 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 11.4 K/9, and 4.1 BB/9 in 61 2/3 IP over 12 starts.

Cease is coming off a nice start against these same Tigers (7 scoreless innings, 1 BB, 10K), and he has two scoreless outings against Detroit this season. Cease has two quality starts in his last 3 games.

RHP Jose Urena is the projected starter for the Tigers. He is 2-5 with a 4.25 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, 5.5 K/9, and 3.6 BB/9 in 59 1/3 IP over 11 starts.

Urena is facing Chicago for the second start in a row, and in 12 IP against them this season has fanned just three batters. He only allowed 4 ER over those starts, but he was aided by allowing little damage on balls in play.

White Sox at Tigers odds, lines, picks and prediction

  • Money line: White Sox -180 (bet $180 to win $100) | Tigers +150 (bet $100 to win $150)
  • Against the spread/ATS: White Sox -1.5 (-115) | Tigers +1.5 (-105)
  • Over/Under: 9.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Prediction

White Sox 5, Tigers 3

Money line (ML)

Chicago is a “lean” in principle on the ML, but any profit potential looks to be drowned out by the juice here. A solid comparative-to-the-market price can be found on the run line.  PASS.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

Taking the favorite against the spread in a game with an Under lean takes an attractive price. The tag here fits the bill in a game where the visitors have a solid edge on the mound and in overall quality.

BACK THE WHITE SOX -1.5 (-115).

Over/Under (O/U)

The weather forecast sets this one up as a low-humidity, breeze-in-from-left contest. In a market all over the map on this total, the price here is attractive on the Under.

TAKE UNDER 9.5 (-110).
