Chicago White Sox at Minnesota Twins odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Chicago White Sox at Minnesota Twins odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Chicago White Sox (5-7) will face the Minnesota Twins (7-4) in the final game of a 3-game series Wednesday at Target Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the White Sox vs. Twins odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Tied 1-1.

The White Sox lost 4-3 in 10 innings to the Tuesday as the Twins evened the series. RHP Lance Lynn allowed 3 ER on 7 H with 0 BB and 10 K over 6 IP.

Chicago trailed 3-2 from the 2nd to the 9th inning before evening things up and forcing extras. Minnesota OF Michael A. Taylor laid down a bunt single that resulted in the winning run crossing on a throwing error in the bottom of the 10th.

The Twins snapped a 2-game losing streak with the win. RHP Pablo Lopez has been fantastic so far this season but took a no-decision with 2 ER on 3 H and 1 BB with 10 K over 7 2/3 IP.

White Sox at Twins projected starters

RHP Lucas Giolito vs. RHP Sonny Gray

Giolito (0-0, 9.00 ERA) makes his 3rd start. He has a 2.00 WHIP, 1 BB/9 and 9.0 K/9 through 9 IP.

  • Gave up 7 ER on 12 H with 0 BB and 3 K over 4 IP at the Pittsburgh Pirates Friday
  • Has surrendered 2 or more ER in 8 of his last 9 starts dating back to last season

Gray (1-0, 0.75 ERA) makes his 3rd start. He has a 1.00 WHIP, 3.8 BB/9 and 10.5 K/9 through 12 IP.

  • Notched 13 K’s in his last start vs. the Houston Astros Friday after only fanning 1 in his season debut at the Kansas City Royals on April 1
  • Hasn’t allowed more than 4 H in either of his first 2 starts of the season

White Sox at Twins picks and predictions

Prediction

Twins 5, White Sox 3

Moneyline

PASS.

The Twins (-160) are expected to secure the win on Wednesday, but taking them straight up isn’t advised at the current odds.

Run line/Against the spread

The TWINS -1.5 (+125) are a solid value with Gray taking the mound. Gray has yet to give up more than 1 ER in either of his first 2 starts and the White Sox are without SS Tim Anderson who was placed on the 10-day IL Tuesday with a sprained knee.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 8.5 (-105).

The White Sox won’t have Anderson leading off in their lineup and Gray has gotten off to an impressive start to the season. I don’t see the Twins scoring enough to help the Over cash despite Giolito’s struggles.

The Under is 3-1-1 in the last 5 meetings between these teams in Minnesota and is 4-0 in Gray’s last 4 home starts.

Chicago White Sox at Houston Astros odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Chicago White Sox at Houston Astros odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Chicago White Sox (1-0) take on the Houston Astros (0-1) Friday in the 2nd game of a 4-game season-opening series at Minute Maid Park. First pitch is at 8:10 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the White Sox vs. Astros odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: White Sox lead 1-0

The White Sox defeated the Astros 3-2 on Thursday with RHP Dylan Cease  allowing only 1 ER while fanning 10 in 6 1/3 IP. RHP Reynaldo Lopez got the save as Chicago looks to replace closer Liam Hendriks, who is undergoing cancer treatment.

The World Series champions got a solid outing from LHP Framber Valdez on Thursday with 4 K and 0 ER in 5 IP while OF Yordan Alvarez homered in the 9th inning.

White Sox at Astros projected starters

RHP Lance Lynn vs. RHP Cristian Javier

Lynn was 8-7 in 21 starts in 2022 with a 3.99 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 1.4 BB/9, and 9.2 K/9 in 121 2/3 IP.

  • Recorded at least 6 IP in 13 of his 21 starts last year
  • His 3.99 ERA last season was his highest since 2018

Javier was 11-9 in 25 starts last season with a 2.54 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, 3.1 BB/9, and 11.7 K/9 in 148 2/3 IP.

  • Tallied 6-plus K’s in his final 6 starts of 2022
  • Tied for 8th in ERA and had the 3rd-best K/9 among starting pitchers despite lacking IP to qualify for the league leaders

White Sox at Astros picks and predictions

Prediction

Astros 4, White Sox 2

Moneyline

AVOID.

Unless you believe the White Sox can start the season 2-0 over the Astros, then I wouldn’t wager on the moneyline in this game. I’d be comfortable taking Houston’s moneyline at -140 odds or better.

Run line/Against the spread

ASTROS -1.5 (+130)

Houston is looking to avoid starting the season with 2 straight losses and while they certainly miss 2B Jose Altuve at the front of their lineup, they still possess a dangerous group of hitters.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

BET UNDER 7.5 (-105).

Lynn is poised to bounce back in 2023 and Javier is someone I believe is capable of winning the AL Cy Young award this season. There have been under 8 runs scored in 6 of the last 7 meetings between these teams.

Chicago White Sox at Houston Astros odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Chicago White Sox at Houston Astros odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Chicago White Sox and Houston Astros begin a 4-game set at Minute Maid Park on Opening Day Thursday. First pitch will take place at 7:08 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the White Sox vs. Astros odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: This will be the first meeting of 2023. The Astros won the season series 4-3 in 2022.

The White Sox missed the playoffs in 2022 with an 81-81 record, finishing 2nd in the AL Central and 5 games back of the final AL Wild Card. Chicago is hoping to have healthier versions of OF Luis Robert, OF Eloy Jimenez, and SS Tim Anderson this season, none of whom played 100 games last year.

Houston is coming off a World Series victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in 2022. The Astros will begin the season without 2B Jose Altuve after he suffered a fractured thumb in the World Baseball Classic and underwent surgery that will keep him sidelined for at least 2 months.

White Sox at Astros projected starters

RHP Dylan Cease vs. LHP Framber Valdez

Cease went 14-8 in 32 starts during the 2022 season. He finished with a 2.20 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 3.8 BB/9 and 11.1 K/9 in 184 IP.

  • Finished as the runner-up for the AL Cy Young award in 2022 behind former Astros RHP Justin Verlander (currently with the New York Mets)
  • Had at least 5 IP in all but 4 starts last season

Valdez produced a 17-6 record in 31 starts during the 2022 season, finishing with a 2.82 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, 3.0 BB/9, and 8.7 K/9 in 201 1/3 IP/

  • Was 5th in the AL Cy Young voting in 2022
  • Registered the 5th most IP among pitchers last season

White Sox at Astros picks and predictions

Prediction

Astros 5, White Sox 3

Moneyline

HOUSTON (-140) is worth taking straight up at -150 odds or better as it looks to start the season strong after winning the World Series in 2022.

Run line/Against the spread

ASTROS -1.5 (+140) is the pick as they boast of the best lineups in baseball even with Altuve sidelined.

The White Sox are 10-22 in the last 32 meetings with the Astros, including losses of 16 and 10 runs in two games last season.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

While Cease and Valdez will be taking the mound on Thursday, OVER 7 (-125) is the lean but only because they likely won’t pitch their usual number of innings.

The Houston Astros (75-41) and the Chicago White Sox (59-56) meet in the opener of a 4-game set Monday at Guaranteed Rate Field. First pitch is scheduled for 8:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Astros vs. White Sox odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: Astros lead 2-1

The first-place Astros steam in on a 4-game win streak, scoring at least 6 runs in each of the victories. This team has averaged 6.5 runs per game in the last 6 games overall.

The White Sox are playing better ball lately, sweeping the Detroit Tigers in 3 games last weekend at Guaranteed Rate Field. Chicago has won 7 of its last 8 home games.

RHP Jose Urquidy vs. RHP Johnny Cueto

Urquidy (11-4, 3.85 ERA) makes his 22nd start. He has a 1.16 WHIP, 2.0 BB/9 and 7.1 K/9 in 119 1/3 IP.

  • In 11 road starts he’s 6-2 with a 4.83 ERA with 11 HR allowed in 59 2/3 IP
  • Has a 4.56 ERA in 75 IP in 13 night starts vs. a 2.64 ERA over 44 1/3 IP in 8 day outings

Cueto (4-5, 3.90 ERA) makes his 16th start and 17th overall appearance. He has a 1.23 WHIP, 2.0 BB/9 and 6.0 K/9 in 102 IP.

  • Is 1-3 with a 3.71 ERA and .260 opponent batting average with just 28 K across 51 IP in 7 home starts and 1 relief appearance

Astros at White Sox picks and predictions

Prediction

Astros 5, White Sox 2

Money line

The ASTROS (-130) are the play despite the fact both teams come in hot. The White Sox (+105) also received a tremendous performance by Cueto in his first start this season against the Astros in Houston, so go lightly here. The better play is to take the run line at plus-money for less risk.

Win your fantasy baseball league with BaseballHQ.com. For decades, BHQ has been helping players just like you win! Use the couple code SBW22 for 20% OFF full-season subscription. New customer offer; expires 8/31/2022. Subscribe today and start winning!

Run line/Against the spread

The ASTROS -1.5 (+125) are not only on a 4-game win streak, but each of the victories have been by 2 or more runs. In fact, the average margin of victory is 4.3 runs per game. Of course, those wins were against subpar teams like the Oakland Athletics and Texas Rangers.

All 8 of Houston’s victories in the month of August have been by 2 or more runs, so if you like the Astros to win, you should like them to cover the run line.

Over/Under

The UNDER 8.5 (-112) has connected in 4 of the past 5 starts by Urquidy, and he has allowed 2 or fewer ER in 3 of the previous 4 outings.

The Under has come through in 2 of the past 3 starts by Cueto, and the Under is 7-4-1 in the past 12 games overall for Chicago.

The White Sox have won 3 games in a row, and look for their first series sweep since winning all 3 games in a series at the San Francisco Giants July 1-3. Chicago is 8-3 in interleague play.

  • Has posted a 4.27 ERA and .259 opponent batting average in 10 road starts vs. a 6.28 ERA and .314 opponent BA in 7 home outings.

White Sox at Rockies picks and predictions

Prediction

White Sox 8, Rockies 5

Money line

The WHITE SOX (-140) are a decent play as a moderate favorite against the struggling Rockies. Chicago has fared well against NL teams this season, and Giolito has at least held his own, especially on the road.

Senzatela has won just once in his last 10 starts dating back to April 29, and he has allowed 3 or more ER in 3 straight outings, and 6 of his last 9 starts.

Run line/Against the spread

The WHITE SOX -1.5 (+105) are a better play on the run line at plus money. Chicago won 2-1 in a well-pitched series opener Tuesday, but this game should have a lot more offense for both sides.

Over/Under

The OVER 11.5 (-122) is the lean in this interleague series finale. Even though the Under hit Tuesday, the Over is 4-1-2 in the last 7 games for the Pale Hose.

The Over has cashed in 5 of the previous 6 outings for the Rockies against winning teams. The Over is 2-0 in the past 2 starts for Senzatela, and 10-4 in his 14 starts this season.

Chicago White Sox at Los Angeles Angels odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Chicago White Sox at Los Angeles Angels odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions

The Chicago White Sox (34-37) and Los Angeles Angels (35-40) meet Monday for the opener of a 3-game set at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif. First pitch is scheduled for 9:38 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the White Sox vs. Angels odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: These teams split a four-game set 2-2 on the south side of Chicago back on April 29-May 2.

The White Sox snapped a 4-game losing streak with a 4-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles Sunday. The Under has cashed in 4 straight games for the Pale Hose.

The Angels posted a 2-1 win Sunday against the visiting Seattle Mariners, salvaging something in the 3-game set after dropping the first 2 outings. L.A. enters just 2-4 on the homestand.

White Sox vs. Angels projected starters

RHP Lucas Giolito vs. RHP Noah Syndergaard

Giolito (4-4, 5.40 ERA) makes his 13th start. The right-hander has a 1.56 WHIP, 3.7 BB/9 and 10.8 K/9 through 63 1/3 IP.

  • Is a dismal 2-2 with a 5.77 ERA and .304 opponents batting average across 5 road starts across 29 IP.
  • Allowed 3 ER, 7 H and 1 BB with 7 K across 6 IP in a loss to the Angels April 29 in Chicago.

Syndergaard (4-6, 3.86 ERA) makes his 12th start. He has a 1.20 WHIP, 2.3 BB/9 and 6.2 K/9 through 58 1/3 IP.

  • Is 3-2 with a 2.39 ERA with a .209 OBA and 27 K across 37 2/3 IP in 6 home starts.
  • Making his first appearance vs. CWS since July 30, 2019, when he was a member of the New York Mets.

White Sox vs. Angels picks and predictions

Prediction

White Sox 6, Angels 4

Money line

The WHITE SOX (+115) are worth playing as short ‘dogs on the road against the struggling Angels (-140).

Chicago has won 6 of its past 8 games on the road, while going 5-1 in the past 6 on the road against a right-handed starter. L.A. has won just 8 of the past 31 games overall, including an awful 4-14 mark in the previous 18 games at home.

Run line/Against the spread

The White Sox +1.5 (-185) are a little expensive if you’re looking for insurance in this series opener.

AVOID, and just play the run line instead.

Over/Under

The OVER 8.5 (-122) is worth playing in this one as both pitchers have been very giving this season.

The Over is also 8-3-1 in the past 12 road games for the ChiSox, while going 4-1-1 in the past 6 tries against AL West teams.

For the Halos, the Under has dominated lately, but the Over is 8-2 in the past 10 home meetings against the Pale Hose.

Chicago White Sox at Minnesota Twins odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Chicago White Sox at Minnesota Twins odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Chicago White Sox (6-6) meet the Minnesota Twins (5-8) Friday for the opener of a 3-game series at Target Field. First pitch is scheduled for 8:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the White Sox vs. Twins odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Chicago has lost 4 consecutive games, recently being swept 3-0 at the Cleveland Guardians Wednesday (doubleheader) and Thursday.

Minnesota prevented a 3-game sweep Wednesday by beating the Royals 1-0 in Kansas City following a 2-2 split of a 4-game series at the Boston Red Sox.

The White Sox won last year’s regular-season series with the Twins 13-6, outscoring Minnesota 123-71.

White Sox at Twins: Projected starters

RHP Michael Kopech vs. RHP Bailey Ober

Kopech (0-0, 1.00 ERA) has 2 no-decisions to start 2022, first throwing 4 IP with 1 ER in a 10-1 win at the Detroit Tigers April 10, then going 5 IP with 0 ER in a 3-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays Saturday.

  • Career vs. Twins: 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA (7 IP, 1 ER), 6 H, 3 BB and 8 K over 4 relief appearances and 1 start

Ober (1-1, 3.27 ERA) lost at the Red Sox 8-1 Sunday, working 6 IP with 0 ER, 4 H, 1 BB and 3 K.

  • 2021 vs. White Sox: 1-1 with a 4.76 ERA (22 2/3 IP, 12 ER), 1.32 WHIP and 9.5 K/9 across 5 starts in his rookie season
  • vs. White Sox on the current roster: 4.33 FIP with a .224 batting average, .312 wOBA, .460 expected-slugging percentage (xSLG), 27.4 K% and 93.3 mph exit velocity (EV) in 62 plate appearances.

White Sox at Twins picks and predictions

Prediction

White Sox 4, Twins 2

Money line

LEAN WHITE SOX (-108).

They’ve been steamed from slight underdogs on the opener up to the current price and they have a significant edge in the pitching matchup.

Ober grades in the 22nd percentile or worse in xSLG, EV, hard-hit rate, barrel rate and expected wOBA, according to Statcast.

Also, the White Sox’s bullpen is 6th in FIP and 7th in home runs allowed per 9 innings, per FanGraphs. Minnesota’s bullpen ranks 28th in both of those respective categories.

However, it’s only a LEAN WHITE SOX (-108) because the Under is my favorite wager in this contest.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

I’m not confident enough in Chicago to sprinkle on White Sox -1.5 (+155). Chicago is 38-44 on the RL versus AL Central foes since the beginning of last season; Minnesota owns a 32-47 RL record vs. the division over that span.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 7.5 (-108) for 1 unit.

Chicago’s lineup has the second-worst wOBA and wRC+ versus right-handed pitching. Minnesota’s lineup is 21st in wRC+ and 23rd in wOBA.

Minnesota is 0-5 O/U in the last 5 games versus a righty starter, the Under has cashed in 4 of the past 5 White Sox-Twins meetings and the total has been lowered from 8.5 on the opener by sharp-line movement, according to Pregame.com.

On top of that, the weather forecast is predicting higher than 15 mph winds blowing in from right-center field.

Chicago White Sox at Cleveland Guardians odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Chicago White Sox at Cleveland Guardians odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Chicago White Sox (6-3) play the Cleveland Guardians (4-5) in the first of a traditional doubleheader Wednesday at Progressive Field. First pitch of Game 1 is set for 2:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the White Sox vs. Guardians odds with MLB picks and predictions.

The White Sox-Guardians games Monday and Tuesday were rained out, which led to Wednesday’s doubleheader.

Chicago won its first three series, all 2-1, at the Detroit Tigers Opening Day weekend and then at home versus the Seattle Mariners and the Tampa Bay Rays last week.

Cleveland rode a 4-game winning streak into its previous series with San Francisco, but was swept at home last weekend by the Giants and outscored 16-4 in the series.

The White Sox won last season’s regular-season series over the Guardians 10-9 and Chicago outscored Cleveland 81-74.

White Sox at Guardians: Projected starters

LHP Dallas Keuchel vs. RHP Shane Bieber

Keuchel (1-0, 5.40 ERA) won his first start last Wednesday versus the Mariners 12-11, throwing 5 1/3 IP with 5 ER on 5 H and 1 BB with 4 K.

  • 2021 vs. Guardians: 0-1 with. 6.61 ERA (16 1/3 IP, 12 ER), 12 H, 7 BB and 10 K in 3 starts.
  • vs. Guardians on the current roster: 4.92 FIP with a .270 batting average (BA), .332 wOBA, .459 expected slugging percentage (xSLG), 12.7 K% and 89.4 mph exit velocity (EV) in 79 plate appearances (PA).

Bieber (0-0) has two straight no-decisions on the road, versus the Kansas City Royals and Cincinnati Reds to open the season. He went 5 1/3 IP with 3 ER on 2 H and 3 BB with 5 K in Cleveland’s 10-5 win April 12 at the Reds.

  • 2021 vs. White Sox: 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA (25 IP, 5 ER), 0.76 WHIP and 11.5 K/9 in 4 starts.
  • vs. White Sox on the current roster: 2.53 FIP with a .215 BA, .252 wOBA, .375 xSLG, 33.1 K% and 91.5 mph EV in 124 PA.

White Sox at Guardians picks and predictions

Prediction

Guardians 6, White Sox 3

Money line

LEAN to the GUARDIANS (-140) mostly because Bieber is on the mound,  but this is a little pricey considering the White Sox (+115) are one of the best teams in the American League.

However, Chicago has lost five straight games as road underdogs with Keuchel on the bump. In Keuchel’s only start last season in Progressive Field, the Guardians had a 50% hard-hit rate but just a. .222 BABIP.

If you can find a price for Cleveland’s first 5-inning ML then I’d take that since Bieber is one of the best starters in baseball and Keuchel is a middle-of-the-rotation guy.

But, I LEAN GUARDIANS (-140) for the full game.

Run line/Against the spread

LEAN to the GUARDIANS -1.5 (+145) because their lineup should rough up Keuchel and Cleveland’s bullpen is good enough to hold any lead Bieber turns over to them.

Furthermore, the Guardians are 48-32 RL in division games since the beginning of last season while the White Sox are just 37-42 RL versus divisional foes and 12-15 RL as road underdogs.

My hesitation with Cleveland’s RL is Chicago has a MLB top-5 lineup and bullpen and I’d prefer the Over as my favorite play in the White Sox-Guardians.

Over/Under

BET the OVER 7.5 (-122) for 1 unit because the Guardians are 5-1 O/U in Bieber’s last 6 starts versus teams with a winning record and there’s some logic to fading the market betting the Under with Bieber is on the mound.

Also, 7 or more runs have been scored in 7 of Keuchel’s last 9 starts dating back to last year.

Lastly, Bieber and Keuchel’s ERAs are higher when starting with 6 or more rest days than any other rest split, Bieber actually has a worse home ERA whereas Keuchel pitches worse on the road throughout his career.

The OVER 7.5 (-122) is my favorite wager in this game.

Chicago White Sox at Cleveland Guardians odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Chicago White Sox at Cleveland Guardians odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Chicago White Sox (6-3) face the Cleveland Guardians (4-5) Tuesday in the opener of what is now a three-game set. First Pitch from Progressive Field in Cleveland is scheduled for 6:10 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the White Sox vs. Guardians odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: White Sox won the 2021 series 10-9

These teams were expected to open a four-game set Monday, but a chilly rain/snow mix washed out the opener which has been rescheduled for July 12. The White Sox won five of the nine meetings in Cleveland last season.

The Guardians opened the season with wins in four of their first six games — all on the road — but were swept in a three-game interleague set against the San Francisco Giants over the weekend, so they’re still looking for the first home win of 2022.

White Sox at Guardians: Projected starters

LHP Dallas Keuchel vs. RHP Shane Bieber

Keuchel (1-0, 5.40 ERA) makes his second start. He allowed 3 ER on 6 H and 0 BB with 5 K across 5 IP in his first start versus the Seattle Mariners Wednesday.

  • Posted a 4-7 record and 5.75 ERA with a .310 opponent batting average across 81 1/3 IP in 16 road starts in 2021.
  • Managed a 0-1 record, 6.61 ERA and 4 home runs allowed in just 16 1/3 IP across three starts versus Cleveland last season.

Bieber (0-0, 2.70 ERA) allowed 3 ER on 2 H and 3 BB with 5 K in 5 1/3 IP at the Cincinnati Reds in his second start of the season last Tuesday. This will be his first home outing of 2022.

  • Went 2-2 with a 3.51 ERA with 53 strikeouts over 41 IP across seven starts at Progressive Field in 2021.
  • Managed a tremendous 3-0 record, 1.80 ERA and .169 OBA with 32 K and no HR allowed across 25 IP in four starts against the White Sox last season.

White Sox at Guardians picks and predictions

Prediction

Guardians 4, White Sox 2

Money line

The GUARDIANS (-145) are worth playing as moderate favorites at home. The home side caught a break with the weather Monday, as they’ll now be able to use their ace for this series opener.

While Cleveland hasn’t really supported its Opening Day starter with a lot of offense, he’ll break through against a team he showed well against in 2021.

Run line/Against the spread

GUARDIANS -1.5 (+145) are worth playing very lightly on the run line. Bieber had a tremendous hold on the White Sox last season, racking up three of his seven victories against the Pale Hose. The offense has struggled a bit lately after flying high in Kansas City and Cincinnati, so be careful.

Over/Under

The UNDER 7.5 (-107) might be the best play on the board here.

The Under is 5-1 in the past six games for the ChiSox against a right-handed starting pitcher, while going 7-2-1 in the past 10 as an underdog going back to last season. The Under is also 11-5-1 in the past 17 road games for Chicago.

While the Over is 5-2 in the past seven for Cleveland, the Under is 5-2 in the past seven at Progressive Field, including 2-1 this season. Cleveland’s offense scratched out just 4 total runs in the three-game sweep at the hands of San Francisco.

Tampa Bay Rays at Chicago White Sox odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Tampa Bay Rays at Chicago White Sox odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

Last year’s AL East champion meets the AL Central winner Friday when the Tampa Bay Rays (4-3) visit the Chicago White Sox (4-2). First pitch at Guaranteed Rate Field is 7:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Rays vs. White Sox odds with MLB picks and predictions.

These teams split last year’s regular-season series 3-3 and Chicago won its home series 2-1. The Rays outscored the White Sox 34-24 last season.

Tampa hits the road for the first time this season after dropping 3 of 4 to the Oakland Athletics. The Rays were outscored by the A’s 31-16 in the 4-game set and Tampa’s only victory was by 1 run in extra innings.

Chicago had its 4-game winning streak snapped Thursday by the Seattle Mariners 5-1, but the White Sox have won their first 2 series this season.

Rays at White Sox: Projected starters

Tampa RHP Drew Rasmussen vs. Chicago RHP Dylan Cease

Rasmussen (0-0, 4.50 ERA) earned a no-decision Saturday in Tampa’s 5-3 win over the Baltimore Orioles after going 4 IP, allowing 2 ER on 3 H and 1 BB with 3 K. This is Rasmussen’s first-ever start versus the White Sox.

  • 2021 road splits: 4-1 with a 2.09 ERA (43 IP, 10 ER), 0.88 WHIP and 7.7 K/9 over 7 starts and 10 relief appearances.

Cease (1-0, 1.80 ERA) got a win Saturday in Chicago’s 5-2 victory at the Detroit Tigers. In 5 IP, he gave up 1 ER on 2 H and 3 BB with 8 K.

  • 2021 home splits: 6-2 with a 3.18 ERA (85 IP, 30 ER), 1.18 WHIP and 12.2 K/9 in 16 starts.
  • vs. Rays on the current roster: 4.15 FIP with a .222 batting average, .285 wOBA, .365 expected slugging percentage, 18.2 K% and 96.6 mph exit velocity in 11 plate appearances.

Rays at White Sox odds and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 12:02 p.m. ET.

  • Money line (ML): Rays +105 (bet $100 to win $105) | White Sox -130 (bet $130 to win $100)
  • Run line (RL)/Against the spread (ATS): Rays +1.5 (-190) | White Sox -1.5 (+155)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 7.5 (O: -130 | U: +105)

Rays at White Sox picks and predictions

Prediction

Rays 5, White Sox 4

Money line

GIMME the RAYS (+105) because Tampa at plus-money is too juicy to pass up. The Rays had the fourth-best record as road underdogs last season and the gap between Tampa’s and Chicago’s bullpen is bigger than Cease and Rasmussen.

Tampa’s bullpen is second in both K-BB% and xFIP thus far (according to FanGraphs) and Rasmussen was sensational on the road last season.

Also, most casual baseball fans think the Rays are carried by their pitching but Tampa’s lineup is one of the best in the MLB.

Lastly, this is a Pros vs. Joe’s game in the betting market as more money has been wagered on the Rays but more bets have been placed on the White Sox, according to Tipico Sportsbook. Since the sharps put up more dough than your average Joe, let’s tail the cash column of the market.

BET 1 unit on the RAYS (+105).

Win your fantasy baseball league with BaseballHQ.com. For decades, BHQ has been helping players just like you win! Use the couple code SBW22 for $15 OFF a Draft Prep or full-season subscription. New customer offer; expires 4/30/2022. Subscribe today and start winning!

Run line/Against the spread

PASS because Tampa’s 33-11 RL record as road underdogs last season is accurately accounted for in the Rays +1.5 (-190).

Furthermore, Tampa’s alternate RL of -1.5 (+175) is a no-go because the White Sox are one of the best teams in the league, so I’ll stick with the Rays’ ML at plus-money.

Over/Under

PASS because there’s been a sharp line move heading South of the total but both lineups can rake and I don’t see a lot of value in this total. For what it’s worth, the Rays are 3-4 O/U this season and the White Sox are 3-3 O/U.
