I like the WHITE SOX -1.5 (-117) to cover the run line and win by a few.

Over/Under

In Cease’s 2 starts against Detroit, the White Sox won 5-2 and 5-1, keeping the total Under. I think that trend will continue Thursday at home against a Tigers team that’s bound to regress to the mean after scoring 19 runs in their last 2 games.

Nearly 80% of the money is on the White Sox (-130) per Pregame.com, but the line hasn’t budged off the opener. This non-line movement suggests oddsmakers are begging for more pro-White Sox wagers.

Also, Minnesota’s lineup outperforms Chicago’s vs. right-handed pitching in runs per 9 (4.77-3.88), wRC+ (106-102), wOBA (.321-.315) and hard-hit rate (34.7-31.1%), according to FanGraphs.

Finally, Minnesota’s bullpen outranks Chicago’s in ERA (4.22-3.78), WHIP (1.35-1.24), K/BB rate (2.58-2.45), swing-and-miss rates and contact rates, per FanGraphs.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

The Twins +1.5 (-180) is out of my price range even though the White Sox -1.5 (+145) are just 7-19 RL as home favorites and I’m not confident enough in them to lay it with Minnesota’s alternate RL.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 9.5 (-120) only because Minnesota’s ML is my favorite look in the Twins-White Sox game.

But, there’s a “Pros vs. Joe’s” scenario in the betting market for the total and Twins-White Sox has a 9-16 O/U record when these starters get the nod.

More than 70% of the money is on the Under while nearly two-thirds of the bets placed are on the Over according to Pregame.com.

It’s wiser to follow the money especially when it’s counter to the public since professional bettors bet a lot more cash than your average Joe.

Bundy is 2-3 on the road with a 6.41 ERA (2.10 home ERA), 0.94 WHIP (1.53 home WHIP) and 7 HRs allowed (3 HRs allowed at home). Also, Bundy is 0-3 with a 5.25 ERA (12 IP, 7 ER), 11 H, 4 BB and 9 K when pitching on 5 days rest.

Furthermore, the Twins are 2-6 SU on the road with Bundy on the bump with a minus-49.9% return on investment (ROI). The White Sox are 6-3 SU when returning home after a 5-game or longer road swing with a plus-18.6% ROI.

BET 1 unit on the WHITE SOX (-130).

Run line/Against the spread

SPRINKLE on the WHITE SOX -1.5 (+155), if at all, because this is a chunky payout, Chicago is 6-3 RL in home games following a 5-game or longer road stand with a plus-33.2% ROI and the Twins +1.5 (-190) are 3-5 RL in Bundy road starts with a minus-26.2% ROI.

However, the White Sox’s ML is my favorite look in this game because Chicago is just 7-18 RL as home underdogs.

There’s more money in the betting market on the Under 9.5 (-115) but more bets are placed on the Over 9.5 (-107), according to Pregame.com, which leads me to believe the Under is the sharper play.

Also, Chicago’s lineup has struggled against right-handed pitching and Minnesota is 0-4 O/U in the last 4 games vs. righty starters.

But I just cannot get down on the Under because both starters are bottom-of-the-rotation guys and Twins-White Sox is 5-1-1 O/U in their last 7 meetings in Chicago.

Money line

LEAN ANGELS (-200) only because we are getting the worst of the number and this is a little out of my price range. Also, I’d entertain throwing L.A.’s ML in a parlay with a similarly priced favorite for a better payout.

That said, this is the best version of Ohtani, the pitcher. Ohtani’s FIP is lower than his ERA (2.90-2.77) and his exit velocity, hard-hit rate, K%, BB% and opposing hitters’ slash line are far better than the MLB average.

Also, L.A.’s lineup outperforms Chicago’s against right-handed pitching in wRC+ (106-90), wOBA (.316-.291), ISO (.178-.115) and hard-hit rate (30.9-27.2%), per FanGraphs.

The Angels opened at -137 according to Pregame.com but have taken heavy sharp action to get steamed up to the current number.

Since we are getting late to the party on L.A.’s ML, I’d only “FLAT-BET” ANGELS (-200) $20 to win $10, if at all.

Run line/Against the spread

LEAN ANGELS -1.5 (+115) only because I’d prefer parlaying L.A.’s ML with another team for a better payout and betting MLB RLs is tough.

Also, the Angels are just 12-22 RL as home favorites while the White Sox +1.5 (-140) are 13-7 RL as road underdogs despite being just 8-12 SU.

The ANGELS -1.5 (+115) should get there though because L.A. has an edge in the starting pitching and hitting departments and Chicago’s bullpen has regressed into mediocrity this year.

Over/Under

PASS.

This is a sharp total and I cannot make a convincing argument for either side. White Sox-Angels have an 8-14 O/U record when these starters are on the hill and L.A. is 11-20-3 O/U as home favorites so the Under is the only side of the total I’d consider. But, my numbers have this game going Over.

It’s 83 degrees with no chance for rain and a slight, 5.6-mph breeze blowing in. Baltimore might have to count on a bullpen game as Voth only went 41 pitches in his first start for them. So there are a lot of signs leaning to the White Sox. However, we’re not paying -170 for a team this inconsistent that was just shut out by the Orioles. I’d much rather take the WHITE SOX FIRST 9 INNINGS (-145).

Run line/Against the spread

The White Sox had a pair of 1-run victories over Toronto recently, but their previous 4 wins were by 2 or more runs. Kopech is the x-factor here if he can limit the damage with the amount of free passes he allows. His home ERA sheds optimism there, and we’ll LEAN WHITE SOX -1.5 (+122).

Over/Under

This could go either way with Kopech’s control and Baltimore’s bullpen game. The Under is 4-0 in Baltimore’s last 4 games. The Under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between the teams in Chicago. Again it’s just a lean because of the unpredictability of the pitching, but LEAN UNDER 8.5 (+100).

Three of Cease’s 5 pitches have a minus-run value (RV) and his slider is 1 of the most effective pitches in baseball while only 1 of Gausman’s 4 pitches has a minus-RV.

Also, Toronto’s bullpen ranks 26th in FIP (4.25) and 25th in home run per 9-inning rate (1.24), per FanGraphs, both worse than Chicago’s bullpen.

Finally, the White Sox hitters got off to a rough start this year but in June are 6th in both WAR (4.3) and wRC+ (127) and 7th in wOBA.

BET 1 unit on the WHITE SOX (+110).

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

The White Sox +1.5 (-145) is out of my price range considering how poorly their lineup has hit right-handed pitching this season and Chicago is just 11-20 RL at home.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 9.5 (+105) because this is a suspiciously high total since both teams are sending top-of-the-rotation starters out there.

Guaranteed Rate Field is 6th in wOBA and 2nd in home run rate in the MLB (per EVAnalytics.com) so it’s a very hitter-friendly ballpark.

Also, there are hitter-friendly weather conditions forecast for Tuesday night with temperatures in the low-to-mid-90s and 18 mph winds blowing out to right center field.

It’s only a LEAN to the OVER 9.5 (+105) because this is a sharp total and I prefer Chicago’s ML.
