The Orioles (-152) will get this win at home on Tuesday night but I don’t want to pay that juice. I’ll keep my wager for the run line.

While this is a tough game to handicap, I have the Orioles covering this run line even against Imanaga and his success this season. Baltimore loves hitting against lefties, owning a nearly .800 OPS (.789) against them and a record of 15-10 on the season. C Adley Rutschman is batting .400 with a 1.092 OPS against southpaws.

Baltimore is also 22 games over .500 at Camden Yards while the Cubs are 17-28 on the road with a 4.45 team ERA.

PASS.

My lean is the Under 9.5 (-122) because of the solid pitching on the mound but I’m not going to bet it. In their last 10 meetings between these 2 teams, they are 5-4-1 against the Over. Both the Cubs and Orioles are 3-3 against the Over in their last 6-games.

Stroman’s career numbers against a predominately bad Orioles team in Camden are a little concerning, but he’s coming off one of the worst starts of his career. He’ll be dialed in to miss bats. Run line/Against the spread

The Cubs are 12-13 on the road, which is pretty good for a 23-33 team. They’re also 16-9 on the run line on the road, which is deceiving because most of the time, they’re the underdogs. I’m picking the run line to cash, but I need more than +125 for a sub-.500 road team to win by 2 or more. Instead, let’s go with the CUBS FIRST 9 INNINGS (-108) because I don’t think we’ll need extras to settle this.

Over/Under

This total is pretty dicey, and I don’t want anything to do with it — especially with rain in the forecast, which could end it prematurely. Instead, I’ll present a prop bet option. Cubs C Willson Contreras is 4-for-7 with 2 HR and 1 double lifetime against Lyles. You could take him for OVER 1.5 total bases (-104) on its own. Thompson has better advanced pitching numbers than Bradish, Chicago’s lineup is more productive against righties than Baltimore’s and there’s been some sharp line movement towards the Cubs.

Bradish grades in the 15th percentile or worse in expected ERA (xERA), exit velocity (EV), hard-hit rate barrel rate and expected batting (xBA), wOBA (xwOBA) and slugging percentage (xSLG) slash line, per Statcast. Also, none of Bradish’s 4 pitches have a minus-run value (RV).

On the other hand, most of Thompson’s pitching peripherals have improved year over year and Thompson grades in the 72nd percentile or better in xERA, EV, hard-hit rate and xBA-xwOBA-xSLG slash line. Also, 3 of Thompson’s 5 pitches have a minus-RV and none have a plus-RV.

Chicago’s lineup is better than Baltimore’s vs. right-handed pitching by wRC+ (100-92), wOBA (.316-.296), BB/K rate (0.43-0.32) and hard-hit rate (30.4-29.2%), according to FanGraphs.

The Cubs opened at -105 (according to Pregame.com) but are getting pricier. This line movement is noteworthy because who’s moving the line for a Cubs-Orioles game Tuesday during the NBA and NHL playoffs? Answer: Sharps.

It’s only a “lean” because both teams have played in a bunch of 1-run games, each bullpen is solid, Chicago is just 1-3 RL as a road favorite and Baltimore is 18-8 RL as a home underdog.

However, Chicago does have a 3-phase edge over the Orioles in starting and relief pitching and hitting so there’s a smidge of value in the CUBS -1.5 (+135).

Over/Under

PASS.

The situational trends don’t provide much of a clue and this is a sharp total.

If anything, I “lean” towards the Under since Camden Yards has been more pitcher-friendly this year, the Cubs are 1-5 O/U after a day off and the weather forecast is predicting double-digit mph winds blowing in from left-center field.
