Boston Bruins at Chicago Blackhawks odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Boston Bruins at Chicago Blackhawks odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Boston Bruins (13-11-3) and Chicago Blackhawks (8-15-2) are lined up for a Wednesday tilt at the United Center. The opening puck drop in the Original Six match-up will be at 7:30 p.m. (TNT). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Bruins vs. Blackhawks odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; Boston swept last season’s series 2-0

Boston is playing for a second straight night and in its third game in its last four days. The Bruins took down the Montreal Canadiens 6-3 Sunday and the Detroit Red Wings 3-2 in a Tuesday overtime game. Boston is 3-1-0 across its last four road games, and the club is 6-1-0 against the Blackhawks since 2020.

Chicago, which last played Monday (4-1 loss at Toronto Maple Leafs), totes a three-game losing streak into Wednesday’s contest on home ice. The Blackhawks are just 2-6-1 over their last nine games

Bruins at Blackhawks projected goalies

Jeremy Swayman (7-9-2, 3.09 GAA, .892 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Petr Mrazek (7-10-1, 2.79 GAA, .908 SV%)

Swayman last toiled Sunday in a 6-3 home win against the Montreal Canadiens (he made 25 saves). He owns a .929 SV% in his last 4 starts.

Mrazek allowed 5 goals in his last start (Sunday vs. Columbus Blue Jackets). That marked the first time since Oct. 22 he had yielded more-than-3 goals in a contest. Since Nov. 10, the 32-year-old veteran has logged a .922 SV%.

Bruins at Blackhawks picks and predictions

Prediction

Bruins 5, Blackhawks 2

Moneyline

Not much interest in either of these sides, but the Boston action on the Puck Line is tinged with a tad more value in a game with a likeable Over. PASS.

Puck line/Against the spread

The last four Boston-Chicago meetings have seen three Bruin wins; all were by multi-goal cushions. Over the last 10 meetings, Boston has averaged 39.8 shots per game.

Even-strength analytics applied to all four corners of this match-up (both sides’ offense, defense) reveal the Boston offense to be the biggest value when it comes to expected vs. actual production. A Bruins club averaging just 2.48 goals per game has been undermined by a low shooting percentage in 5-on-5 high-danger looks.

Peg Swayman’s numbers as being shaded by a few too many power-play goals allowed (.805 SV% in such situations), and Boston is catching a Blackhawks defense that has allowed 10 goals over its last two games and has been a bit leaky of late in yielding too many shots from the slot.

All that noted and with prices considered, the lean here is a soft one. A partial-unit play on the BRUINS -1.5 (+165) is the recommendation.

Over/Under

The Over has cashed in the Blackhawks’ last two home games and in two of the Bruins’ last three on the road.

Expected-vs.-actual 5-on-5 analytics peg both offenses as underperforming and being due some regression. The Boston offense has performed better on road ice, and the Chicago one better at home. Mix in a very good ‘Hawk power play (23.5%–10th NHL) and a Bruins club that takes more penalties than average, and the value here is on a loftier score than how the total lays this one out.

Over the last two seasons, Boston’s games on the back half of two in a row have seen higher scoring averages both for and against.

BET THE OVER 5.5 (-118).

Chicago Blackhawks at Toronto Maple Leafs odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Chicago Blackhawks at Toronto Maple Leafs odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Chicago Blackhawks (8-14-2) take on the Toronto Maple Leafs (14-7-2) Monday evening. Puck drop from Scotiabank Arena is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Blackhawks vs. Maple Leafs odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; Blackhawks won 2-0 last year

The Hawks fell 6-3 to the Columbus Blue Jackets Sunday in what was their sixth loss in 8 games. C Connor Bedard scored his fifth goal of the season. He has 5 goals and 14 assists for 19 points in 24 games. The Hawks are 4-8-2 on the road thus far.

The Leafs got back in the win column Saturday with a 5-3 win in Tampa. RW William Nylander scored his 15th goal of the season. He is tied for fifth in the NHL in goals thus far. The best news from that game was the return of C Auston Matthews (upper body), who missed nearly a month due to injury. He had 2 assists in the game.

  • Puck line (PL)/Against the spread (ATS): Blackhawks +2.5 (-150) | Maple Leafs -2.5 (+125)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 6 (O: -105 | U: -115)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4132″ ]

Blackhawks at Maple Leafs projected goalies

Arvid Soderblom (1-4-1, 2.36 GAA, .926 SV%) vs. Anthony Stolarz (7-6-0, 3.33 GAA, .872 SV%, 1 SO)

The 25-year-old Swede has lost 3 straight starts, but he has performed well in them. He stopped 21 of 24 against Anaheim last time out, and he stopped 29 of 31 and 37 of 39 against Vancouver and Dallas. Soderblom has yet to allow more than 3 goals in his 6 starts. He was between the pipes in a 4-3 OT win against Toronto last year, stopping 34 of 37.

Stolarz took the 5-1 loss to Florida Wednesday, allowing 4 goals on 23 shots. He was solid overall in November, going 3-2-1 with a 2.18 GAA and .927 SV%. Stolarz suffered a 5-2 loss to the Hawks last year, stopping 20 of 24.

Blackhawks at Maple Leafs picks and predictions

Prediction

Maple Leafs 3, Blackhawks 2

Moneyline

There is no bet with the inflated ML here. Instead, let’s take CONNOR BEDARD OVER 2.5 SHOTS (-125). He had 5 and 4 SOG the last 2 games. He had 6 and 4 against Toronto last season.

Puck line/Against the spread

There’s no play here, either, because the Blackhawks losing by 2 or fewer goals at a chalky -150 is just not how I want to spend my Monday evening.

PASS and look to the total.

Over/Under

The Blackhawks are 2-8 O/U in their last 10, and the Leafs are 4-6. They have scored 3+ goals in 8 of 10 games, and the only ones they didn’t . . . they lost.

I don’t see the Leafs dropping a 5-spot on Soderblom, and I can’t see the Hawks scoring more than 2.

Take the UNDER 6 (-115).

Chicago Blackhawks at San Jose Sharks odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Chicago Blackhawks at San Jose Sharks odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Chicago Blackhawks (3-6-1) and San Jose Sharks (2-7-2) tangle  Thursday at the SAP Center. The opening puck drop is slated for 10:30 p.m. (ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Blackhawks vs. Sharks odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: Blackhawks lead 1-0

Chicago, which beat San Jose 4-2 at home Oct. 17, is playing the middle contest of a 5-game road trip. On Monday, the Blackhawks snapped a 4-game skid with a 5-2 win at the Colorado Avalanche. C Ryan Donato filed 2 goals and an assist in what marked just the club’s second road win in 6 tries.

On Tuesday, the Sharks opened a 5-game homestand with a  4-2 triumph over Los Angeles Kings. A San Jose club that opened its season 0-7-2 has collected back-to-back victories, something it had not done since Jan. 22-23.

Blackhawks at Sharks projected goalies

Petr Mrazek (3-5-0, 3.04 GAA, .896 SV%) vs. Mackenzie Blackwood (1-3-2, 3.89 GAA, .888 SV%)

Mrazek started Monday’s game and made 24 stops while allowing 1 even-strength and 1 power-play goal. He started 3 games against San Jose last season, clocking a fine .926 SV%.

Blackwood allowed 4 goals in a Monday win over the Utah Hockey Club. All 4 goals were over the first and second periods; he only faced 4 shots over the third and overtime frames in a 5-4 Sharks win.

Blackhawks at Sharks picks and predictions

Prediction

Blackhawks 4, Sharks 3

Moneyline

Chicago has beaten San Jose 5 straight times since February of the 2022-23 season.

The Blackhawks have shown some improved ability in 5-on-5 analytics, and their scoring-chance and high danger numbers are trending the right way over recent games despite having won just once since Oct. 19.

The Sharks have been a heavily penalized club so far. Only 5 teams have been tagged with more average penalty minutes per game than San Jose’s 11.0. In the Oct. 17 meeting at the United Center, Chicago went 2-of-7 on the power play. And San Jose has been yielding a slew of good looks from the slot lately.

Chicago is on the road 2 times zones west, but it also has a rest advantage in this matchup.

BACK THE BLACKHAWKS (-145).

Puck line/Against the spread

Three games in Chicago’s 5-game streak against San Jose have gone past regulation. PASS on trying to edge the ‘Hawks by with a cushion.

Over/Under

The Over is 5-1-1 over the last 7 series meetings and has hit in 3 straight ‘Hawks-Sharks games in San Jose.

Blackwood’s even-strength numbers (.892 SV%) have not been encouraging. Extra-man opportunities should be plentiful.

BACK THE OVER 6 (-110).

Nashville Predators at Chicago Blackhawks odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Nashville Predators at Chicago Blackhawks odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Nashville Predators (1-5-0) visit the Chicago Blackhawks (2-4-1) for a Friday night battle at the United Center. Puck drop in the Central Division matchup will be at 8:30 p.m. (ESPN+ / Hulu). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Predators vs. Blackhawks odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; Predators won 4-0-0 last season

Nashville snapped a season-opening 5-game losing streak with a 4-0 win over the Boston Bruins Tuesday. The Predator triumph, one bolstered by Nashville rifling 42 shots on goal and a strong performance between the pipes by G Juuse Saros, came in the finale of a 4-game homestand. Friday’s game at Chicago marks just the 2nd road tilt for the Preds.

The Blackhawks are closing out a 4-game homestand of their own. Chicago opened that stretch with a victory but has since lost 2 straight. That includes a 6-3 loss to the Vancouver Canucks in their last game (Tuesday).

Predators at Blackhawks projected goalies

Juuse Saros (1-4-0, 2.89 GAA, .903 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Petr Mrazek (2-3-0, 3.24 GAA, .887 SV%)

Saros logged a bounceback with his 33-for-33 effort Tuesday. He had notched an aggregate .868 SV% over his 3 previous starts.

Mrazek coughed up all 6 goals in Chicago’s Tuesday loss. That effort came on the heels of 3 solid starts; he had registered a .930 SV% over his 3 previous outings.

Predators at Blackhawks picks and predictions

Prediction

Predators 4, Blackhawks 3

Moneyline

Soros clocked a 2-start .939 SV% against Chicago last season, and he owns a career .933 SV% against the Blackhawks. And if he gets the nod for the Predators, he does not figure to face a lot of close-in shots. The ‘Hawks are among the worst teams in the league thus far when it comes to generating high-danger looks in 5-on-5 play.

The Preds may well be glad to be on the road after experiencing perhaps some bad puck luck in their string of earlier setbacks. Their puck-possession and shot-quality numbers certainly belie their early-season won-loss mark.

The Predators have won 4 in a row and 9 of their last 10 against the Blackhawks.

FanDuel Sportsbook offers a budget line here. TAKE NASHVILLE (-172).

Puck line/Against the spread

The pricing on the ML play is solid. PASS.

Over/Under

Nashville has scored 4-plus goals in 3 of its last 4 games against Chicago.

The Blackhawks defense was especially leaky the last 2 games. Both sides have some expected-goals numbers at both ends of the ice that would indicate slightly more scoring in the tank.

BACK THE OVER 6 (-110).

Chicago Blackhawks at Calgary Flames odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Chicago Blackhawks at Calgary Flames odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Chicago Blackhawks (1-1-1) and Calgary Flames (3-0-0) are lined up for a Tuesday contest at the Scotiabank Saddledome. The opening puck drop will be at 9 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Blackhawks vs. Flames odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; Chicago took last season’s series 2-1-0

The Blackhawks got some surprise production in a Saturday win at the Edmonton Oilers. Chicago went 3-of-3 on the power-play en route to a 5-2 triumph in that game. Last season, the Blackhawks’ 179 goals ranked last in the NHL, and the the club had scored just 3 goals over its 1st 2 games.

The Flames are also coming off a 3-goal win over the Oilers. Calgary defeated Edmonton 4-1 Sunday. Six Calgary players have already tallied multiple goals this season, and the Flames have scored 16 goals in 3 games.

Blackhawks at Flames projected goalies

Petr Mrazek (1-1-0, 3.03 GAA, .906 SV%) vs. Dustin Wolf (1-0-0, 3.05 GAA, .925 SV%)

Mrazek started Saturday at Edmonton and made 36 saves against 38 shots. He owns a solid .919 SV% across 11 career games against the Flames.

Wolf is a 23-year-old who is getting a look in what looks to be a rotating starting spot for the Flames. He started Calgary’s 2nd game (Saturday, stopping 37-of-40 shots against the Philadelphia Flyers in a 6-3 loss.

Blackhawks at Flames picks and predictions

Prediction

Blackhawks 4, Flames 3

Moneyline

Chicago is 2-1 with a 1-0 loss over its last 3 games at the Saddledome.

Calgary has shot a likely-induced-by-some-luck 18.4% so far, and its defensive numbers figure as an overrating factor as well. Last season, the Flames struggled in these 3 games-in-quick-succession situations.

The Blackhawks’ offense may not be enough, though. Consider a partial-unit play on CHICAGO (+135).

Puck line/Against the spread

Better leverage can be had on the ML: AVOID.

Over/Under

The total has gone Over in 7 of Chicago’s last 9 games at Calgary. And the last 14 games at the Saddledome have produced 10 Overs.

Calgary is playing its 3rd game in 4 days. Both sides have been giving up 5-on-5 shots, scoring chances and high-danger chances that rank them in the bottom 3rd of the league. Both sides also have some goals-against averages shy of what expected-goals analytics project.

With both sides finding some success on the power play thus far, the OVER 6 (-115) is the leverage play.

Chicago Blackhawks at Edmonton Oilers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Chicago Blackhawks at Edmonton Oilers odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Chicago Blackhawks (0-1-1) and Edmonton Oilers (0-1-0) will lock horns in a Saturday night battle in Alberta, Canada. The opening faceoff at Rogers Place will be at 10 p.m. (ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Blackhawks vs. Oilers odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; Edmonton won the last season’s series 3-0-0

Chicago is a big underdog in what mark’s the club’s 3rd straight road game to start the season and its 2nd game in as many nights. On Friday, the Blackhawks faltered with a late 1-0 lead and eventually dropped a 2-1 overtime contest at the Winnipeg Jets.

The Oilers are also coming off a loss to Winnipeg. Edmonton was routed 6-0 in a season-opening home loss to the Jets Wednesday. The Oilers lost that game despite outshooting Winnipeg 30-20.

Mrazek, who last season went 18-31-4 with a 3.05 GAA, started Chicago’s opener Tuesday and allowed 4 goals on 26 shots.

Blackhawks at Oilers picks and predictions

Prediction

Oilers 5, Blackhawks 3

Moneyline

Too. Much. Juice. AVOID.

Puck line/Against the spread

Dating back to 2022, Edmonton has defeated Chicago in 5 straight, and 3 of those wins were by margins of 3 goals or more.

Mrazek was solid at home last season but struggled on road ice where he logged an .885 SV%. Skinner made 2 starts against the ‘Hawks last season, and he clocked a sparkling .959 SV% in those efforts.

Last season, Chicago went 3-9-0 across the back halves of its back-to-backs.

FanDuel Sportsbook has a better leverage price for this puck-line play. TAKE EDMONTON -1.5 (-142).

Over/Under

The last 15 Chicago-Edmonton games have produced a 10-5 mark for the Over.

Last season, a high-octane Oilers offense ranked 4th in the NHL in scoring 3.56 goals per game and 4th in power-play success (26.3%).

Skinner has had some slow-start Octobers in his career (.863 SV% in 5 October games last fall). In those 12 games on the 2nd half of a back-to-back referenced above, the Blackhawks allowed 3.75 goals per game.

TAKE THE OVER 6.5 (-105).

The Chicago Blackhawks (0-1-0) and Winnipeg Jets (1-0-0) hit the ice in a Central Division tussle Friday. The contest at the Canada Life Centre will start at 8 p.m. (ESPN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Blackhawks vs. Jets odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: 1st meeting; Winnipeg went 3-0-1 in last season’s 4-game series

Chicago lost 5-2 in its season opener at the Utah Hockey Club Tuesday. Defensive-zone turnovers loomed large in the Blackhawks loss.  MoneyPuck.com pegged the ‘Hawks with 11 such turnovers.

The Jets had 6 players find the net in a 6-0 rout at the Edmonton Oilers Wednesday. Winnipeg registered the big haul despite being held to 20 shots on goal.

Soderblom would be making his 1st appearance of the season. In 2023-24, he went 5-22-2 with 3.92 GAA and .879 SV%.

Hellebuyck stopped 30-of-30 shots in the Jets’ Wednesday lid-lifter against the Oilers. Last season, the now-31-year-old logged his 2nd straight .920 SV% season (.921) en route to earning the Vezina Trophy.

Blackhawks at Jets picks and predictions

Prediction

Jets 3, Blackhawks 2

Moneyline

Lots of juice here: PASS.

Puck line/Against the spread

Winnipeg should be a Central Division contender while Chicago perhaps ascends to the type of club that at times looks worthy of the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference. But the ‘Hawks have played the Jets into overtime in 2 of the last 3 series meetings. All 3 of those last 3 meetings, including 1 Chicago win, were 1-goal games.

A couple of expected-goals measures had the Blackhawks having a pulse in 5-on-5 play Tuesday. That’s something to grab onto for a club that has struggled mightily in even-strength play in recent years.

FanDuel Sportsbook offers the best leverage here: BACK THE BLACKHAWKS +1.5 (-125).

Over/Under

The Under has cashed in 5 straight series games in Winnipeg. And the Under is 6-0 across the last 6 overall meetings.

Look for some gravity in Chicago’s defensive and Winnipeg’s offensive output displayed in the openers. The UNDER 6 (-120) has value.

Chicago Blackhawks at Utah Hockey Club odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Chicago Blackhawks at Utah Hockey Club odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Chicago Blackhawks meet the Utah Hockey Club Tuesday in the 2024-25 season opener at Delta Center in Salt Lake City. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (ESPN/ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Blackhawks vs. Utah Hockey Club odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting

The Blackhawks have a lot of work to do to get back to being competitive, but they added a lot of veterans to do just that. Additions of Fs Tyler Bertuzzi, Pat Maroon, Craig Smith and Teuvo Teravainen were solid, and they grabbed Ds T.J. Brodie and Alec Martinez to help on the back end. G Laurent Brossoit was also a strong addition for depth.

It will be interesting to see if C Connor Bedard can take a step forward after posting 61 points in 68 games in his rookie season.

The Utah Hockey Club name is new, but this is essentially the same roster as last season’s Arizona Coyotes. This team was starting to make some strides before the move, and Utah is getting a good young core. They also made a big splash bringing in D Mikhail Sergachev, who has his name on the Cup in Tampa Bay.

Blackhawks at Utah Hockey Club projected goalies

Petr Mrazek (18-31-4, 3.05 GAA, .908 SV%, 1 SO in 2023-24) vs. Connor Ingram (23-21-3, 2.91 GAA, .907 SV%, 6 SO in 2023-24)

Mrazek had decent numbers at home last season, but he was an absolute train wreck on the road. The veteran was 4-20-1 with a 3.72 GAA and .885 SV% in 25 starts last season. He did not start against the Arizona Coyotes last season, although he appeared in relief with 10 saves on 11 shots.

Ingram was solid last season in home games at cozy Mullett Arena in Arizona, going 14-9-0 with a 2.57 GAA, .915 SV% and 3 SO. However, he struggled with a 1-2-0 mark, 3.72 GAA and .891 SV% in 3 tries against the Blackhawks, so tread lightly.

Blackhawks at Utah Hockey Club picks and predictions

Prediction

Utah Hockey Club 4, Blackhawks 2

Moneyline

The UTAH HOCKEY CLUB (-165) are rather moderate favorites, but it is a good play at its new home.

The atmosphere in hockey-starved Salt Lake City is going to be electric for this debut, as Utah’s capital city officially grows into a 3-team town, if you include Real Salt Lake of the MLS.

Utah has a strong, young core of players, and Ingram was much better last season than Mrazek, who was especially terrible on the road.

Puck line/Against the spread

If you’re a little more adventurous, UTAH HOCKEY CLUB -1.5 (+145) is not a bad option. Mrazek is a very giving goaltender, and Utah has the potential to be a rather high-octane offense. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Utah secure this puck line cover with an empty-net goal, sending the home fans away from the debut game happy.

Over/Under

The Total (6) is expected to come down on the number.

The offense was rather toothless last season, with the Under going 8-2-1 in the final 11 regular-season contests. However, Chicago’s offense should be punched up a little with some key veteran adds, so it won’t be the same struggling group.

If there was a lean, it would be Over, due to Mrazek’s struggles on the road last season. But the best thing is to just AVOID.

Chicago Blackhawks at St. Louis Blues odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Chicago Blackhawks at St. Louis Blues odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Chicago Blackhawks (23-49-5) take on the St. Louis Blues (41-32-5) Wednesday at Enterprise Center. Puck drop is set for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Blackhawks vs. Blues odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Hawks have traded wins and losses the last 6 games with the latest being a 4-0 setback against the Minnesota Wild Sunday. C Connor Bedard was quiet with just 1 shot in 18 minutes of ice time. Before that, he had points in 5 of 6 games.

The Blues are clinging to their playoff lives as they trail the Vegas Golden Knights by 5 points for the final Wild Card spot with 4 games to play. They’re going to be without 27-goal scorer LW Jake Neighbours, who is missing his 2nd in a row with an upper body injury. They clawed to a 6-5 shootout win over the Anaheim Ducks Sunday to snap a 2-game skid. C Robert Thomas continued his career year with a goal and 3 assists to give him 81 points in 78 games.

  • Moneyline (ML): Blackhawks +200 (bet $100 to win $200) | Blues -250 (bet $250 to win $100)
  • Puck line (PL)/Against the spread (ATS): Blackhawks +1.5 (-130) | Blues -1.5 (+110)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 5.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Blackhawks at Blues projected goalies

Petr Mrazek (18-28-4, 3.01 GAA, .908 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Joel Hofer (13-12-1, 2.74 GAA, .913 SV%, 1 SO)

Mrazek has been great in 2 April starts, going 1-1-0 with a 2.04 GAA and .945 SV%. He stopped 69 of 73 shots against the Dallas Stars and New York Islanders. He beat the Blues in Chicago Dec. 9, stopping 38 of 39 shots along the way.

The rookie Hofer suffered a 3-2 OT defeat Saturday against San Jose. He stopped 22 of 25. He had a really good March at 3-2-0 with a 2.21 GAA and .929 SV%. This will be his first shot at Chicago.

Blackhawks at Blues picks and predictions

Prediction

Blues 4, Blackhawks 3

Moneyline

The Blues should win this one, but they have laid so many eggs against weaker teams that the -250 is even less of a consideration.

Instead, I’m going with CONNOR BEDARD ANYTIME GOAL +195. The last time these teams met, Bedard had one of the sickest goals of the season as he successfully performed the Michigan from behind the net.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Blues have won 3 of the last 4 meetings against the Hawks, and each of them were by 2+ goals.

It’s a risk, but the plus-money reward is worth it. Take the BLUES -1.5 (+110).

Over/Under

The Blues are 6-4 O/U over the last 10, but the Hawks are 3-7. This total would have cashed in 6 of the last 9 meetings and in 3 of 4 at Enterprise.

Take the OVER 5.5 (-115), but stay away if it swells to 6.

Chicago Blackhawks at Vegas Golden Knights odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Chicago Blackhawks at Vegas Golden Knights odds and lines, with NHL expert picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Chicago Blackhawks (2-5-0) and Vegas Golden Knights (7-0-0) battle in Las Vegas on Friday. Puck drop at T-Mobile Arena is slated for 6 p.m. ET (NHL Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Blackhawks vs. Golden Knights odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Chicago heads into this game off a 3-0 loss vs. the Boston Bruins Tuesday and on a 3-game losing streak. The middle contest of those 3 — held last Saturday in Chicago — was against the Golden Knights. The Blackhawks lost to Vegas 5-3 in that game.

The Knights played Tuesday and kept their undefeated start going with a 3-2 triumph over the Philadelphia Flyers. Vegas overcame the visiting Philly club after trailing 2-1 heading into the 3rd period.

Blackhawks at Golden Knights projected goalies

Petr Mrazek (1-3-0, 3.03 GAA, .925 SV%) vs. Adin Hill (4-0-0, 1.73 GAA, .934 SV%)

Mrazek last played Tuesday, stopping 40 of 43 pucks against the Bruins. He was between the pipes against Vegas once last season and stopped 33 of 35 even-strength shots.

Hill last played Saturday at Chicago. He allowed 3 goals in 24 shots. The 27-year-old has gotten off to a hot start but over his career has usually started slow and come on strong in the season’s 2nd half.

Blackhawks at Golden Knights picks and predictions

Prediction

Golden Knights 3, Blackhawks 2

Moneyline

Vegas feels like a vulnerable unbeaten. The Golden Knights have had more than a few tight games swing their way late, including last week’s game against the Blackhawks.

Chicago certainly figures as offensively challenged. The Blackhawks are a still-building club that is missing a lot of pieces. Still, Chicago has been competitive in a lot of games and has played a grinder of a schedule so far.

The Blackhawks are a slight lean, but its not a lean to activate with a proper value price likely being something north of +270. PASS.

Puck line/Against the spread

Adin Hill comes into this game on 5 days’ rest. Last season, in long-rest situations (5-plus days), Hill registered a shaky .855 SV%.

With the way the Hawks played the Knights last weekend, CHICAGO +1.5 (+105) is looking like a solid play for Friday.

Over/Under

Including the note about Hill’s rest, these netminders are deserving of an evenly-priced 5 1/2-goal total here. Seeing each other for a 2nd time in 6 days and with Friday’s contest being the front half of a back-to-back for the Knights, there is value on the UNDER 6 (-115).
