Watch every Justin Fields play from Bears’ preseason loss vs. Bills

Re-live every Justin Fields play from the Bears’ 41-15 loss to the Bills.

The Chicago Bears suffered a brutal defeat at the hands of former Bear Mitch Trubisky and the Buffalo Bills, 41-15, on Saturday at Soldier Field. And while there are concerns that arose from the loss, rookie quarterback Justin Fields remains the biggest source of optimism.

Saturday’s game gave us our second look at Fields in live action, where he continued to impress despite offensive line struggles and some drops by receivers. He completed 9-of-19 passes for 80 yards and added four rushes for 46 yards. Once again, Fields flashed his mobility and his ability to make something out of nothing.

As head coach Matt Nagy remains firm in his decision to start Andy Dalton in Week 1 — despite how Fields has been performing — these preseason games are going to have to tide Bears fans over until Nagy inevitably caves and starts Fields, whenever that may be.

In case you want to rewatch every Fields play from the Bears’ loss over the Bills, NFL.com has got us covered.

Bears’ Rodney Adams honored his newborn daughter with touchdown celebration vs. Bills

It’s been an eventful 24 hours for Bears WR Rodney Adams, who hauled in a 73-yard touchdown just hours after the birth of his daughter.

It’s been quite an eventful 24 hours for Bears wide receiver Rodney Adams. Not only did he haul in an impressive 73-yard touchdown against the Bills, but it comes right on the heels of the birth of his daughter.

Adams caught a deep ball from quarterback Andy Dalton — separating himself from his defender — and sprinted to the end zone, where he then rocked the football like a baby.

The night before, Adams was celebrating the birth of his daughter Brexleigh Michelle, who was born on Friday. Adams spent the night on the couch in her hospital room for about five hours before he drove directly to Soldier Field for Saturday’s game.

“He just had a baby and made that play,” Dalton said. “I think he rocked the baby afterward. That was pretty good.”

Adams has made a name for himself in Chicago’s wide receiver competition, where he’s contending for a roster spot. With final roster cuts just over a week away, Adams is trying not to think about it.

“I mean, I don’t want to,” he said. “But I’m trying to get 100% better every single day. I’m not thinking about 10 days ahead. What’s the challenge tomorrow? What’s the challenge the next day ? I’m not thinking 10 days ahead, I’m thinking, ‘What’s going to happen tomorrow?’”

Following impressive preseason outings against the Dolphins and Bills — on top of being a standout name in practice — Adams has a good chance to earn  a roster spot.

Mitch Trubisky says he’ll root for Bears: ‘They are still family to me’

Former Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky led the Bills to a 41-15 victory. And he’s got nothing but love for his former team and Chicago fans.

After leaving the Bears in free agency, Mitchell Trubisky made his long-awaited return to the city that drafted him. Trubisky, now the backup quarterback in Buffalo, got his chance to say goodbye to those who supported him the last four years, in a 41-15 blowout win.

Trubisky completed 20-of-28 passes, throwing for 220 yards and one touchdown. He had an additional 11 yards on the ground.

For the Bears, quarterback Andy Dalton went 11-for-17, throwing for 146 yards, and one touchdown. Rookie Justin Fields completed 9-of-19 passes for 80 yards and added 46 yards on the ground.

Throughout the weeks leading up to this game, there were quotes from Trubisky, taken out of context, where it seemed like he was slighting the Bears’ franchise. After the win on Saturday, he had this to say about his former team and city:

“They are still family to me. I love the people in Chicago. I love the fans in Chicago.”

Trubisky also let fans know that he will be rooting for the Bears this season.

There’s a weird thing that comes with Trubisky and the Bears. It obviously didn’t work out, but he’ll always be tied to the franchise. He played his heart out, was a hard worker and stayed out of trouble.

Trubisky was the model person any franchise could ask for. That is why he has so many fans that will support him anywhere he goes.

As the Bears move on to the Justin Fields Era and Trubisky looks to re-boot his career, it was nice to see him back one more time at Soldier Field. That is something almost every Bears fan can agree on.

Bears vs. Bills preseason game recap: Everything we know

The Bears were dealt a 41-15 loss by the Bills, where former QB Mitch Trubisky shined in his return to Soldier Field. Here’s our game recap.

The Chicago Bears hosted the Buffalo Bills in their second preseason game, where Buffalo walloped Chicago 41-15 on Saturday at Soldier Field.

With the exception of a few plays, the Bears were relatively uninspiring with their staring offense and defense. Wide receiver Rodney Adams, who continues to jockey for a roster spot, had the highlight of the day with a 73-yard run-and-catch touchdown.

While there’s no official quarterback competition, rookie Justin Fields continues to put the pressure on Matt Nagy to change his decision to roll with Andy Dalton in Week 1.

Meanwhile, former Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky had his way with Chicago’s defense, leading the Bills to six scoring drives in the first half, including four straight touchdowns.

While it was only preseason, there were some concerns that were highlighted in the loss, including the offensive line, missed tackles and special teams coverage.

Instant analysis of Bears’ 41-15 preseason loss vs. Bills

From Andy Dalton vs. Justin Fields to Rodney Adams’ impressive day, we’re breaking down the Bears’ 41-15 loss to the Bills.

The Chicago Bears returned to Soldier Field for their second preseason game Saturday, where they welcomed the Buffalo Bills. Unfortunately for Chicago, it was a 41-15 beatdown by Buffalo, led by former Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, who led the Bills to 34 first-half points.

Following a brief appearance in last week’s preseason opener, the Bears’ starting offense saw an entire half of action. For the first quarter, it was more of the same, as Chicago opened the game with a pair of three-and-outs. A Damien Williams fumble on the third series stalled the momentum Andy Dalton and co. had been building.

No doubt the highlight for the first-team offense was a 73-yard touchdown from Dalton to wide receiver Rodney Adams, who grabbed the ball over a defender and sprinted into the end zone. Adams once again led all receivers with 89 yards on three receptions.

Adams continues to impress, as he’s made plays throughout training camp and in last week’s preseason opener against the Dolphins, where he had an impressive catch from Justin Fields. With the competition at wide receiver, Adams is making a strong case for one of those two roster spots.

Fields played the entire second half, where he used his mobility to evade Buffalo’s pass rush and make something out of nothing on a few occasions with the struggles behind the second-team offensive line and with some drops by receivers.

Fields finished 9-of-19 for 80 yards and had four rushes for 46 yards, including an impressive 16-yard run. Fields’ best throw was a 32-yard dime to tight end Jesse James, who made a diving grab.

There was a scary moment in the fourth quarter when Fields took a brutal helmet-to-helmet hit from Bills linebacker Andre Smith, which sent Fields’ helmet flying off as he fell to the turf. Fields got up and shook it off like it was nothing, but it was still a moment that left Bears fans breathless for a few seconds.

The game also marked Trubisky’s return to Soldier Field, where he got the start for Buffalo. Trubisky had his way against his former team, completing 20-of-28 passes for 221 yards with one touchdown for a 106.4 passer rating.

This game also highlighted some of the biggest concerns heading into the season, including a porous offensive line, tackling issues and special teams struggles in coverage.

While Fields’ stat line wasn’t as impressive as last week’s opener, his performance continues to put pressure on Matt Nagy and his plan to run with Dalton as the starter. At the very least, Fields deserves some reps with the first-team, something Nagy said was on the way.

Twitter reacts to Justin Fields helmet-to-helmet hit

Bears fans everywhere held their breath when Justin Fields took a helmet-to-helmet hit against the Bills. Thankfully, the rookie was okay.

There’s been a ton of excitement for Bears rookie quarterback Justin Fields, who saw playing time in the second half of Saturday’s preseason game against the Bills.

But there was a scary moment in the fourth quarter when Fields took a vicious helmet-to-helmet hit from Bills linebacker Andre Smith, which knocked Fields’ helmet off as he flew to the turf. Smith was flagged for roughing the passer.

One play later, rookie running back Khalil Herbert ran for a 13-yard touchdown.

As you can imagine, Bears fans’ hearts stopped for a good five seconds before Fields popped up and walked it off.

WATCH: Rookie RB Khalil Herbert rushes for a touchdown vs. Bills

Bears rookie RB Khalil Herbert scored a 13-yard touchdown run in the 4th quarter.

The Chicago Bears rookie running back Khalil Herbert has had a productive preseason and camp so far and finally found the endzone in his second game.

In the early moments of the fourth quarter, Herbert took a handoff from fellow rookie Justin Fields and burst up the middle right into the end zone for a 13-yard touchdown. The play was setup thanks to a roughing the passer call on Fields that saw him take a scary hit and lose his helmet in the process.

The Bears failed to score on the two-point conversion, putting the score 41-12 Bills as the fourth quarter rolls on.

WATCH: Bears’ Rodney Adams makes a highlight grab and sprints for a touchdown

Another week, another highlight play from Bears WR Rodney Adams over a defender’s head.

Another week, another highlight play from Chicago Bears wide receiver Rodney Adams over a defender’s head. This time, however, he was able to take it to the house and give the Bears their first score of the day.

Midway through the second quarter, the Bears offense finally came alive after doing nothing of note all game. On second down, quarterback Andy Dalton dropped back and fired his longest pass attempt of the preseason. He found Adams streaking on the right side of the field, where the receiver hauled in the catch over cornerback Siran Neal, kept his feet, and dashed to the endzone for the 73-yard score.

Adams had a similar catch last week against the Dolphins and has flashed for the Bears in camp. The veteran receiver has spent time with the Minnesota Vikings and Indianapolis Colts, playing in just one game since coming into the league in 2017.

The Bears are currently down 28-6 against the Bills with the first half winding down.

Mitchell Trubisky receives mixed reception in return to Soldier Field

Former Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky received a (mostly) warm welcome when he took the field in Chicago.

The decision to cheer, boo, or not give any reaction to the return of Mitchell Trubisky has finally been resolved.

The former Chicago Bears quarterback got the start for the Buffalo Bills on Saturday and entered the game a few minutes into the first quarter following a three and out by the Bears.

When Trubisky entered the huddle for the Bills, Soldier Field showed him a (mostly) warm welcome, many cheering the quarterback who led the Bears offense over the last few years. There were some boos, however, as fans wanted to show their displeasure for the lack of success Trubisky had.

Trubisky wasn’t fazed by the reaction either way, however, as he led the Bills down the field in methodical fashion. The Bills scored on a touchdown run thanks to running back Devin Singletary. Trubisky was 5 for 7 with 53 yards on his opening drive.

The Bills lead the Bears 13-0 midway through the first quarter.

LOOK: Justin Fields and Mitch Trubisky met before Bears vs. Bills game

The past and the present collided as Mitch Trubisky and Justin Fields met ahead of Saturday’s preseason game between the Bears and Bills.

The past and the present collided at Soldier Field as former Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky and current Bears quarterback Justin Fields met ahead of Saturday’s preseason game against the Bills.

Trubisky, the former No. 2 overall pick, didn’t live up to expectations, and the Bears let him walk in free agency, where he signed a one-year deal to backup Josh Allen. With Allen not playing, Trubisky got the start against his former team.

Meanwhile, Chicago drafted their quarterback of the future in Fields, who will take over for starter Andy Dalton in the second quarter and is expected to play most of, if not all, of the second half.

Cameras caught Fields and Trubisky meeting during pregame warmups:

Trubisky was also spotted signing Bears jerseys for fans in the stands before the game.
