The Toronto Raptors (22-38) welcome the Charlotte Hornets (15-45) to Scotiabank Arena Sunday. Tip is set for 6 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Hornets vs. Raptors odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: Raptors lead 2-1

The Raptors lost to the Golden State Warriors 120-105 Friday, failing to cover as 3-point home underdogs. Toronto has lost 2 straight but has won 3 of its last 5. The Raptors have covered 4 of their last 6 and are 29-31 against the spread (ATS) this season. Unfortunately for Toronto, leading scorer F Scottie Barnes is out with a hand injury — he averages 19.9 points per game (PPG).

The Hornets lost at the Philadelphia 76ers 121-114 Friday, covering as 12-point road underdogs. Charlotte has been a double-digit underdog in each of its last 3 games and is 1-2 ATS in those. It is 24-36 ATS on the season and 6-3 ATS in its last 9. F Miles Bridges leads the Hornets in scoring at 21.4 PPG.

Hornets at Raptors picks and predictions

Prediction

Raptors 114, Hornets 108

Moneyline

PASS.

The Hornets (+265) have played better as of late, but they have lost 3 straight, 2 of which came by double figures. They aren’t worth a play as a heavy underdog, and the Raptors (-330) are too expensive to take outright.

Against the spread

BET HORNETS +7.5 (-110).

The Hornets have struggled against top-tier teams, but they have covered the spread in 5 straight games as a single-digit underdog. Charlotte, with players like Bridges, has explosive scoring options that can keep pace.

The Raptors, who have lost 2 straight at home, are 2-3 ATS in their last 5 games as favorites. Barnes’ absence will definitely hurt as he is one of the Raptors’ top defenders, so they will likely struggle to slow down Bridges.

Put it all together and TAKE HORNETS +7.5 (-110).

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 225.5 (-110).

The Raptors have gone Under in 3 of their last 5 games and in 6 of their last 9. Not having Barnes on the floor will affect their scoring output.

The Hornets have gone Under in 7 of their last 8 games and have failed to score 100 points in 4 of their last 5. Charlotte has failed to even hit 86 in 2 of its last 5. Charlotte just hasn’t clicked offensively.

TAKE UNDER 225.5 (-110).

Charlotte Hornets at Toronto Raptors odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Charlotte Hornets at Toronto Raptors odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Toronto Raptors (22-22) host the Charlotte Hornets (26-21) Tuesday for a 7 p.m. ET tip-off at Scotiabank Arena. Below, we look at the Hornets vs. Raptors odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Charlotte had a three-game win streak snapped Sunday when it was crushed 113-91 by the Atlanta Hawks at home as a 1.5-point favorite. The Hornets are 7-3 straight-up (SU), 7-3 against the spread (ATS) and 3-7 Over/Under (O/U) in their last 10 games.

Toronto has lost three of its last four games, which includes a 114-105 defeat by the Portland Trail Blazers at home as an 8-point favorite. The Raptors are 5-5 SU, 6-4 ATS and 3-7 O/U in their last 10 games.

The Hornets have covered five consecutive meetings with the Raptors but Toronto is 3-2 SU in those contests.

Hornets at Raptors odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Raptors 112, Hornets 104

Money line

PASS with a heavy “lean” towards the Raptors (-170) because I’d rather not fuss with the points against a Hornets team that has the fourth-best ATS winning percentage in the Association.

However, Toronto’s money line is a little out of my price range and this is a good spot for the Raptors.

Against the spread

BET the RAPTORS -3.5 (-115) for 1 unit for various reasons. First of all, Toronto has two strength-on-weakness edges versus Charlotte on the offensive glass and in transition.

The Raptors are second in offensive rebounding rate and second in second-chance points per game (PPG). While the Hornets are 24th in defensive rebounding rate and allow the most second-chance PPG.

Charlotte and Toronto rank second and third in fastbreak PPG, but the Raptors are third in fastbreak PPG allowed and the Hornets rank 26th.

Toronto is also deep at the wing and Charlotte could be without two wings in Hayward and McDaniels.

Not having those guys out there will be a lot of pressure on Hornets’ wing Miles Bridges to take on the Raptors’ three-headed wing monster of Pascal Siakam, OG Anunoby and Scottie Barnes.

Finally, Toronto is 8-1 ATS in its last nine games following a SU loss and 16-7 ATS versus teams with a winning record (8-3 ATS at home).

BET the RAPTORS -3.5 (-115).

Over/Under

“LEAN” to the UNDER 221.5 (-115) because the Hornets are 0-4 O/U over the last four games mostly because they’ve stepped their defense up in Jan. Charlotte is fifth in adjusted defensive rating in Jan., according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

The Raptors are ninth in adjusted defensive rating this month (per CTG) and have gone Under the total in seven of their last eight games.

However, I can only “LEAN” to the UNDER 221.5 (-115) for a one-third unit at most because of Toronto’s aforementioned strength-on-weakness edges and Charlotte is eighth in effective field goal shooting.

The Toronto Raptors (3-8) play host to the Charlotte Hornets (6-7) at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla., for the second time in three days with a 7:30 p.m. ET tip-off Saturday. Below, we analyze the Hornets-Raptors NBA betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Raptors dropped the Hornets by a 111-108 count Thursday. Toronto had to hold off a fourth-quarter comeback attempt by Charlotte in which the Hornets outscored the Raps 22-12 in the final 12 minutes to cover as 10-point underdogs.

Hornets at Raptors: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Raptors 112, Hornets 101

Money line (ML)

Both teams had better than average shooting performances Thursday with Toronto going 20-for-50 from 3-point range and Charlotte going 15-for-35. The Raptors and Hornets are shooting 36.8% and 36.3%, respectively, from beyond the arc for the season. The Hornets’ 35 attempts in the game were right on their season average while the Raptors chucked more than usual.

Raptors C Chris Boucher was the surprise star of the game with 25 points and 10 rebounds. His 30 minutes were well above his season average and provided the bench scoring Toronto has been sorely missing. Look for him to have another big game in a mismatch against the Charlotte frontcourt.

Liking the Raptors to win, we’ll PASS on a money line bet as they don’t deserve to be -275 favorites with a 3-8 record. The Hornets nearly pulled off the comeback Thursday and could have Hayward back in the lineup Saturday.

Against the spread (ATS)

The Hornets improved to 7-6 ATS with Thursday’s cover. They’ve covered in five of their last six games and were underdogs in all but one of those contests.

Toronto led by as much as 18 Thursday and it was the Hornets who outperformed their season averages by a greater margin, and without one of their top shooters in Hayward.

Take the RAPTORS -7.5 (+100) to close out better and win by at least 8 points.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the UNDER 219.5 (-110). Thursday’s 111-108 win by Toronto just topped the 217-point closing line.

With some shooting regression in store for both sides and better defense expected following a rest day, they’ll fall short of a higher projection.

Charlotte Hornets at Toronto Raptors odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Thursday’s Charlotte Hornets at Toronto Raptors NBA betting odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Toronto Raptors (2-8) limp back to their 2020-21 home court following a 1-3 Western Conference road trip to host the Charlotte Hornets (6-6) Thursday at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla. Tip-off will be at 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Hornets-Raptors NBA betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Raptors’ road swing ended with back-to-back single-point losses. They were topped 106-105 by the Golden State Warriors Sunday and 112-111 by the Portland Trail Blazers Monday in the second half of the back-to-back. They dropped their last home game against the Boston Celtics 126-114 Jan. 4.

The Hornets are coming off a 104-93 Wednesday loss to the Dallas Mavericks. They had previously won four in a row with two at home and two on the road. Toronto beat Charlotte twice in the preseason by scores of 111-100 and 112-109.

Hornets at Raptors: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Raptors 114, Hornets 102

Money line (ML)

The Raptors (-400) will get right Thursday but we can’t justify laying -400 on a 2-8 team, or any team. They nearly pulled off a fourth-quarter comeback against the Warriors but blew a big fourth-quarter lead against the Blazers. A return to their artificial home court and an Eastern Conference opponent that began the season with much lower expectations will serve them well.

Charlotte is 2-1 in the second half of back-to-backs this year but the Raptors are well-rested and the potential absence of Hayward would be a big loss for the Hornets.

PASS and look to the spread.

Against the spread (ATS)

The RAPTORS -9.5 (+100) should be backed to win by at least 10 points. Toronto has the guards to match up well against Charlotte’s trio of Terry RozierDevonte’ Graham and LaMelo Ball, and the continued absence of Zeller will leave space for Raptors PF Pascal Siakam and C Chris Boucher in the paint.

Toronto is eighth in the NBA in steals and Charlotte is just 17th in turnover percentage. The Raptors commit more fouls than all but one team, but the Hornets rank just 25th in team free-throw percentage, so Toronto won’t be penalized as badly as it was late in the games against the Warriors and Blazers.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Raptors’ defense has been the most disappointing area of their game this season but a two-day rest and a tired opponent should see a more spirited effort, especially if Hayward needs to sit out. The Hornets are just 3-9 against the Over/Under and fall an average of 7.7 points per game below the line with 107 PPG scored and allowed.

The Raptors rely too heavily on 3-pointers and the Hornets are fourth in the league in 3-point defense.

Take the UNDER 219.5 (-110).
