Ravens cut CB Daryl Worley, sign him back to practice squad

The Baltimore Ravens have cut defensive back Daryl Worley.

The Baltimore Ravens pulled out an important Week 7 win over the Cleveland Browns by the final score of 23-20. It moves them to 4-3 on the year, keeping their lead in first place in the AFC North.

On Monday, the Ravens cut defensive back Daryl Worley. The veteran has been added to the game day roster, cut, and re-signed to the practice squad multiple times now, and that’s what happened this time around with the veteran as well.

The Ravens have three players who have been designated to return from the physically unable to play list. Outside linebackers Tyus Bowser and rookie David Ojabo are candidates to take over the 52nd and 53rd spots on the roster once they’re ready to return.Rookie tight end Charlie Kolar is also a factor.

In three games so far this season, Worley has played mostly on the special teams unit.  He has recorded one assisted tackle in those three games.  Having Worley on the practice squad gives the Ravens depth in the secondary and on special teams on game days.

Ravens TE Mark Andrews believes TE Isaiah Likely is going to ‘shock the world’

Ravens tight end Mark Andrews showered plenty of praise on tight end Isaiah Likely

The Baltimore Ravens have been historically strong at drafting tight ends, and that didn’t change in 2022. The team drafted both Charlie Kolar out of Iowa State and Isaiah Likely out of Coastal Carolina in the in the fourth round, adding to their already talented tight end room. Kolar missed all of training camp and the preseason with an injury and was placed on injured reserve, but Likely has made a name for himself throughout the last few weeks.

Ravens tight end Mark Andrews was asked about Likely and what makes him so slippery as a player. The veteran talked about how he’s able to find zones, is a willing blocker, and is will shock the world by making a name for himself outside of Baltimore.

“He [Isaiah Likely] has got a great feel. He’s got a great feel, he’s got quick feet, he wins his one-on-ones, he finds the zones – there’s really not much he can’t do – and he’s a very, very willing blocker. He’s going to continue to get better and better at that. So, he’s a complete tight end. In Baltimore everybody knows him, but he’s going to shock the world.”

If Likely can continue to take his game to the next level, the Ravens will have hit on another playmaking tight end in the draft with Andrews as one of the top tight ends in the NFL. Learning behind Andrews will benefit Likely tremendously, and both will be able to feed off of each other on the field as well.

Ravens TE Isaiah Likely believes Baltimore has best 2022 rookie class in NFL

Ravens rookie tight end Isaiah Likely thinks that the team’s 2022 draft class is the best in the NFL

The Baltimore Ravens are one of the best drafting teams in the NFL. They were able to pick up an impressive 2022 draft class, and through two games of the 2022 preseason have shown their ability, with players such as defensive lineman Travis Jones and tight end Isaiah Likely starting off extremely strong.

Likely was asked about how special the draft class can be, and the first-year player gave high praise to his fellow rookies. The tight end said that he feels that Baltimore has the best rookie class in the entire NFL, with many things factoring into his opinion, including the bond that the group has.

“I feel like we got the best rookie class in all 32. I mean the bond we have in the locker room even off the field is unique,  When Tyler (Huntley) scored we all celebrated when Raleigh (Webb) we all celebrated.  Even after Jordan’s (Stout) punt to put them down in the 15, we were jumping, and celebrating with Jordan because at the end of the day it’s just the love you want to show your teammates whether good play or bad play you always got to cheer them up and make them know that next play mentality so especially rookies playing in the preseason on their first NFL stage, first away game, you just need that and having your brother do that is always going to be a help”

Likely was one of six fourth-round selections that the Ravens made in 2022, with some of the others being fellow tight end Charlie Kolar, offensive lineman Daniel Faalele, punter Jordan Stout and cornerback Pepe Williams. Each of Baltimore’s 11 draft picks has the ability to make a big impact for the team, and they’re certainly off to a good start so far.

Ravens QB Tyler Huntley shares thoughts on ability of TE Isaiah Likely

Ravens quarterback Tyler Huntley shared his thoughts on the ability of tight end Isaiah Likely

The Baltimore Ravens traveled to Arizona to face the Cardinals in their second preseason game of 2022. Baltimore ended up beating Arizona 24-17, extending their preseason win streak to 22.  In the win, rookie tight end Isaiah Likely stood out in a big way, catching eight passes for 100 receiving yards and his first-career (preseason) touchdown.

Quarterback Tyler Huntley also had a great performance, and spoke to the media after the game. He was asked about Likely, and showed praise on the rookie as he talked about how what the tight end can do after the catch stood out to him the most.

“I think that’s what sticks out the most, what he can do after the catch.  Once he gets the ball in his hands, he gets way more yards than you even expect so, that means a lot as a quarterback throwing to a receiver or a tight end, or even a running back is how much yards after the catch they get. It plays a long way in your thought decision.”

Likely is showing the Ravens that he’s the real deal, and deserves a big role in the offense right away. Baltimore has has success drafting and developing tight ends over the course of their franchise history, and that trend could very well be continuing with Likely.

Ravens TE Charlie Kolar to undergo sports hernia surgery

Ravens rookie tight end Charlie Kolar will undergo sports hernia surgery

The Baltimore Ravens addressed many different positions over the course of the 2022 NFL draft. They drafted playmakers in all three phases of the game, and each of their rookies has the chance to contribute immediately, whether it be offensively, defensively or on special teams.

Baltimore double dipped at the tight end position in the fourth round, selecting both Charlie Kolar out of Iowa State and Isaiah Likely out of Coastal Carolina. On Thursday, an injury update was provided on Kolar, as head coach John Harbaugh revealed that he will under go sports hernia surgery next week.

Kolar is expected to have an impact in a tight end room that also includes Likely, Mark Andrews and Nick Boyle. He will miss some, if not all, of training camp as he looks to get back on the field, and in the meantime Josh Oliver and others will likely have increased opportunities while Kolar is out.

Ravens HC John Harbaugh provides key injury updates on multiple players

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh provided key injury updates on multiple players

The Baltimore Ravens saw their 2021 season get derailed by injuries. They lost key talent all over the field over the course of the whole year, having to constantly shuffle their roster as they were bringing in new player after new player.

A few of the stars that they lost for the year early on included running backs JK Dobbins and Gus Edwards, cornerback Marcus Peters and offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley. When speaking to a group of reporters on Tuesday, Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh gave key updates on multiple players, namely saying that Edwards is questionable for Week 1 and rookie tight end Charlie Kolar could miss training camp time with what might be a sports hernia situation. The team is also optimistic about the other players currently on the physically unable to perform list.

Edwards suffered a torn ACL in practice just days before Week 1 of the 2021 season, so it’s been 11 months since the injury occurred. He’s a big part of what Baltimore does on offense, so hopefully he’ll be able to return at full strength sooner rather than later. Kolar was drafted in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL draft by the Ravens out of Iowa State, and is expected to be a key part of Baltimore’s tight end room.

CBS Sports expects Ravens’ rookie TEs will play big role in 2022

CBS Sports expects the Ravens’ rookie tight ends to play a big role in 2022

The Baltimore Ravens had a phenomenal 2022 draft in which they selected 11 total players. Each has massive potential to be a key contributor for the team for many years in the future. Baltimore took prospects in all three phases, balancing out depth while also taking some of the best available talent on the board.

When listing out the five rookie tight ends who he believes will play the biggest roles in 2022, Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports listed both of the Ravens’ rookie tight ends on his list in fourth-round selections Charlie Kolar and Isaiah Likely. He listed Kolar at No. 5 on his list and Likely at No. 4, first talking about how Kolar has good flexibility for his height.

“Kolar’s productivity was mostly due to unusual flexibility for his height, which allowed him to snap in and out of his breaks as a route runner, and he caught everything. Basically. Kolar only had two drops in 2021.”

Then, Trapasso talked about how Likely is a yards after the catch threat.

“Kolar and Likely are two different types of tight ends with unique talents to threaten underneath, at the intermediate level, and down the field. Likely projects as a more capable Deebo Samuel YAC treat. He’s higher than Kolar on this list because Kolar is much like Andrews. Likely provides more suddenness underneath to be targeted on high-percentage throws for Jackson.”

Kolar and Likely join a Baltimore tight end room that also houses veterans Mark Andrews and Nick Boyle, so there’s no shortage of talent between all four players. It looks as if the Ravens could go back to being more of a run-heavy team like was the case in 2019 or 2020, and that would mean there would be plenty of opportunities for Kolar and Likely to make an impact during their rookie years.

Ravens TE coach George Godsey shares first impressions of rookie TEs

Ravens tight end George Godsey discussed his first impressions of rookie tight ends Charlie Kolar and Isaiah Likely

Entering the 2022 draft, the Baltimore Ravens already had two very established tight ends on their roster in Mark Andrews and Nick Boyle. However, once draft weekend was over, the team left with two more players at the position in fourth-round selections Charlie Kolar out of Iowa State and Isaiah Likely out of Coastal Carolina.

Following a session of voluntary organized team activities, Baltimore tight ends coach George Godsey was asked about his first impressions of the two rookie draft picks in his room. He shared that they are both learning and are good listeners, and are now adjusting to life in the NFL.

“Those guys have been in here for as many hours as they can be – learning, and they’re good listeners. Not only with myself and the coaching staff, but also with the other guys in the room. So, they take good notes, and they’re a compliment to each other. They use each other to learn. It’s been impressive watching those two guys, too. They’ve been coached very well, to this point. And now, it’s just getting adjusted to pro ball and having the sense of urgency to get open in the passing game and get our hats on the right guys in the running game.”

Both Kolar and Likely have traits that should be able to translate over to the professional level. Kolar is a big-bodied target that some have likened to Andrews, while Likely can line up all over the field and is very versatile. The Ravens have one of the best tight end rooms in all of football with players such as Andrews, Boyle, Kolar as well as Likely, and the group should be able to make plenty of big-time contributions throughout the 2022 season.

Ravens TE Charlie Kolar signs rookie contract

Ravens tight end Charlie Kolar signed his rookie contract

The Baltimore Ravens have been hard at work trying to secure their massive 11-player 2022 draft class. They’ve signed more than half of their first-year players to their rookie deals, and on Thursday added another one to the growing list.

The latest Baltimore rookie to put pen to paper is tight end Charlie Kolar, who was selected in the fourth round at No. 128 overall out of Iowa State. The Ravens posted a picture of him on social media signing the deal, and the rookie was all smiles as he officially became a part of the team.

In four seasons at Iowa State, Kolar caught 168 passes for 2,181 yards and 23 touchdowns. He projects to some like teammate Mark Andrews, and is a big-bodied pass catcher that can be a big weapon in the passing game.

Baltimore has now signed seven of their rookies, with four still needing to officially put pen to paper in outside linebacker David Ojabo, offensive tackle Daniel Faalele, cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis and punter Jordan Stout.

Ravens TE Mark Andrews shares how he’ll embrace mentor role for rookie TEs

Ravens tight end Mark Andrews explained how he’ll embrace a mentorship role for the rookie tight ends on the roster

The Baltimore Ravens added two tight ends in the 2022 NFL draft, selecting both Iowa State’s Charlie Kolar and Costal Carolina’s Isaiah Likely in the fourth round. They’ll be joining a positional group in Baltimore that already has two very established options in Mark Andrews and Nick Boyle, making the team’s tight end room one of the best in football.

When Andrews was asked about how it felt to hear Kolar say that he watched him growing up and if he was embracing a mentorship role, the veteran made it clear that he’s going to everything he can to help the two rookies thrive at the NFL level.

“It’s humbling. For me, when I came out of the league, there’s certain guys that I really looked at and looked up to. So, for me, to kind of be that type of guy [and] role model, I’m going to everything I can to help both of these young guys – every one of these tight ends – in any way I can, share my knowledge, share what I can do. We have a great room, like I said. It’s going to be scary. We’ve got a lot of tight ends that can play some ball.”

For any young player, gaining knowledge from a player of Andrew’s caliber will help immensely. Both Kolar and Likely have massive amounts of potential, and they’ll have Andrews in their corner as the look to establish themselves as professionals.
