The Chargers snapped their losing streak, defeating the Jets by the score of 34-28.

Here is my instant analysis of Los Angeles’ Week 11 victory:

Injury Report

Edge defender Uchenna Nwosu sustained a shoulder injury and he did not return to the game. Cornerback Casey Hayward suffered a groin injury late in the game. The severity of their injuries is unknown.

Play of the Game: Justin Herbert’s third touchdown pass

Like I’ve said in previous weeks, this has become a section for Herbert’s best throw of the game, it appears. In this case, it was when he connected with wide receiver Keenan Allen for his third touchdown pass of the game. Talk about a dart.

Notable Number

16: Wide receiver Keenan Allen set a new single-game career-high with 16 receptions.

Quick Takes

Quarterback Justin Herbert took advantage of a depleted secondary, finishing with 366 yards and three touchdowns on 37-of-49 passing. Herbert distributed the wealth to eight different targets, but his go-to was wide receiver Keenan Allen, who had 16 receptions for 145 yards and a touchdown.

After having success on the ground the past few weeks, the Chargers only had 61 yards on 22 carries (2.8 yards per carry). The offensive line is to blame, as the unit failed to generate push upfront. Running back Kalen Ballage finished with 44 yards on 16 carries.

On the other side of the ball, it was a mixed bag of results. While there were a few stops at the line of scrimmage, the Chargers allowed too many big gains on the ground. The Jets finished with an average of four yards per carry and two touchdowns.

Among those who had some eye-popping plays was linebacker Denzel Perryman. Perryman contributed to the pass and run. He will be a free agent after this season, but he’s shown that he is worthy of another contract.

Cornerback Tevaughn Campbell also had a game to show his worth. Campbell had an interception which he returned for a touchdown in the first quarter, as well as the game-ensuing pass deflection.

A player who struggled was cornerback Casey Hayward. Hayward was heavily targeted, where he allowed a few big receptions, including one of quarterback Joe Flacco’s touchdowns.

Even with edge defender Joey Bosa back in the starting lineup, the pass rush still struggled to generate pressure. The Chargers only managed one sack, which happened to be by Bosa. He also notched five quarterback hits.

Playing a disciplined brand of football was crucial and despite the win, they kept it way too close against an inferior opponent. There were too many costly penalties, play calls that were questionable, and special team woes.

Chargers DT Jerry Tillery has strong start to sophomore season

Chargers defensive tackle Jerry Tillery showed that he is looking to have a breakout season.

Chargers defensive tackle Jerry Tillery didn’t have the rookie season that many fans were anticipating after being selected in first-round pick of the 2019 NFL Draft, with some already labeling him as a bust.

Tillery wasn’t going to fall into that category, so he made the point to add strength and get faster in the offseason after having nearly of his rookie offseason cut short due to rehabilitation of his shoulder that he had surgery on.

The former Notre Dame product shined during training camp, displaying the physical changes. He then carried that onto the field in the season opener against the Bengals.

It wasn’t long into the game when Tillery acquired his first sack of the season, beating right guard Xavier Su’a-Filo with physical hands and quickness to get to rookie quarterback Joe Burrow.

Later in the half, Tillery almost had another sack, quickly getting into the backfield where he annihilated Burrow after he handed the ball off to running back Joe Mixon.

Nonetheless, his pressure allowed linebacker Kyzir White to bottle up Mixon for a negative gain.

Throughout the game, Tillery lined up both as a three-technique and defensive end. One thing that stood out was that he worked inside on first and second downs, which wasn’t something that he did last season.

Instead, he would be on the field exclusively on obvious passing situations.

Tillery’s stat line only shows two tackles, but that doesn’t exemplify how dominant he was. He was in the backfield early and often, and he was making plays away from the line of scrimmage.

If Tillery keeps it up, he could be a key defensive factor this season.

“I seen Jerry grow up right before my eyes, man,” defensive end Melvin Ingram said. “It was a great thing, because Jerry has been working so hard in camp. And to see him be rewarded for his hard work, it was dope. And I think the sky is the limit for him. He’s only going to get better.”

Chargers RB Joshua Kelley flourishes in NFL debut

The Los Angeles Chargers’ fourth-round pick had himself a game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Chargers rookie running back Joshua Kelley received a lot of praise out of training camp.

The team’s fourth-round pick showed exactly why the coaching staff and players raved about him in the season opener against the Bengals.

After the passing game was nearly nonexistent, Los Angeles resorted to the running game, which was led by RB Austin Ekeler.

It wasn’t until late in second quarter when Kelley stepped on the field for the first time. His first two carries combined for seven yards.

Right after the half, the offense immediately went with the ground game. Ekeler received a pair of carries before Kelley raised some eyebrows, taking the ball up the gut for a 26-yard gain.

The carries that the former UCLA product followed up with, including his five-yard touchdown, exemplified the type of back he is: a win-at-all cost runner with cutting ability, body control, vision and toughness.

Kelley finished the game with 12 carries for 60 yards and a score.

Coach Anthony Lynn credited Kelley, saying that he didn’t think the Chargers would have won Sunday if they didn’t have him on the field.

Kelley’s performance and the fact that Justin Jackson is struggling to stay injury-free likely signifies that he will have an increased workload as the No. 2 back behind Ekeler moving forward.

“When my number gets called, I have to make the most of my opportunities,” Kelley said.

Twitter reacts to Chargers’ nail-biting win vs. Bengals

Take a look at the best reactions to the Chargers’ victory over the Bengals.

The Chargers clawed their way back in after being down the whole game in the season opener against the Bengals.

Cincinnati was close to sealing the deal on the final drive, but after settling for a field goal to tie the game with seconds remaining, kicker Randy Bullock missed the kick.

Los Angeles pulled away with a victory by the score of 16-13.

Like they say, it wasn’t pretty but a win is a win.

Here’s a glimpse at how social media reacted to the Bolts’ Week 1 win:

Here’s how Twitter reacted following the Chargers’ 45-10 victory over the Jaguars.

The Los Angeles Chargers snapped a three-game losing skid, defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars by the score of 45-10.

The Bolts were dominant on all three levels, picking apart Jacksonville’s belittled defense and swallowing up their offense, both through the air and on the ground.

Even though they came out victorious, with the Pittsburgh Steelers’ win, the Chargers are officially eliminated from playoff contention.

Despite the fact that Los Angeles won’t be playing in January, fans of the team were still ecstatic to see the type of performance on display today.

Let’s see how some of them reacted on social media:

Instant analysis of Chargers’ 45-10 victory over Jaguars

Chargers Wire’s Gavino Borquez delivers his recap on the Los Angeles Chargers’ victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Los Angeles Chargers snapped their three-game losing streak with a huge win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

Here is our instant analysis from the Chargers’ 45-10 victory:

Injury Report

There weren’t any injuries that occurred today.

Play of the Game: Mike Williams’ receiving touchdown

Entering the game, Williams had yet to post a touchdown reception this season. But that quickly changed as quarterback Philip Rivers found him for a phenomenal 44-yard catch over a defender that went for a score.

Notable Number

213: Austin Ekeler totaled 213 yards from the line of scrimmage, becoming the first Charger to do so since Lionel James in 1985.

Quick Takes

  • Happy Birthday to quarterback Philip Rivers! On his 38th birthday, Rivers had quite the performance, finishing 16-of-22 passing for 314 yards and three touchdowns.
  • What do you do when facing one of the league’s worst run defenses? You run the ball, and that they did, tallying 191 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries.
  • The offensive line was at their best, only allowing one sack on the afternoon. Not only did they keep Rivers upright for nearly the entire contest, but they did an outstanding job to create lanes in the running game.
  • The red zone offense flipped a switch after a season’s worth of woes, going 3-of-3. We saw some creative play-calling and utilizing the running backs more.
  • It took some time, but wide receiver Mike Williams finally found the end zone. He finished with a pair of catches for 63 yards. Wide receiver Keenan Allen had a strong outing, finishing with five receptions for 83 yards.
  • Up big in the fourth quarter, the backups got some snaps, including quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who finished 3-of-5 for 26 yards and a passing touchdown to tight end Virgil Green. We also saw some mobility at the position, as he ran the ball four times with a long of nine.
  • The defense was unable to force a fumble from quarterback Gardner Minshew, but they brought him down twice, both who came from defensive end Joey Bosa. Bosa now has 10.5 sacks.
  • The run defense department had its ups and downs. While they had their fair share of stops at or before the line of scrimmage, they were easily gashed in the trenches to create openings and they had a few missed tackles.
