Central Michigan at Oklahoma State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Central Michigan at Oklahoma State odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Central Michigan Chippewas and Oklahoma State Cowboys open their seasons at Boone Pickens Stadium Thursday (FS1). Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Central Michigan at Oklahoma odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Chippewas head down to Stillwater, the scene of the most famous crime in CMU history. In the last meeting (Sept. 10, 2016), the Chips were mistakenly awarded an untimed down after a 4th-down intentional grounding call on OK State with zeroes on the clock. CMU hit a Hail Mary play with no time left to stun the Cowboys 30-27. What’s worse, Central Michigan was gifted the play by a MAC officiating crew.

None of the players from that game are playing on either side anymore, but you know coach Mike Gundy has a long memory and will want this one. The ranked Cowboys will have revenge on their minds.

Oklahoma State is ranked No. 11 in the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Central Michigan at Oklahoma State picks and predictions

Prediction

Oklahoma State 41, Central Michigan 17

Money line

Oklahoma State (-1600) isn’t going to get bitten by the upset bug again – it shouldn’t have lost that last meeting in 2016, either.

While Central Michigan (+800) has QB Daniel Richardson back, this team lost a pair of strong wideouts, including WR/KR Kalil Pimpleton. RB Lew Nichols III returns too, but CMU is likely to abandon the run game early after falling in a first-half hole.

Still, while the 11th-ranked Pokes should win, there is little value betting such a huge favorite.

AVOID.

Against the spread

OKLAHOMA STATE -21.5 (-112) is the lean here, but go lightly on such a high number. Central Michigan does have a handful of strong offensive players capable of big things.

While I don’t necessarily trust OSU QB Spencer Sanders, who tossed too many interceptions in 2021, I think the Cowboys should power past the Chippewas in the second half after a rusty first 30 minutes.

Over/Under

UNDER 58.5 (-112) is the lean in this opener, mostly based upon the trends.

The Under is 7-2 in CMU’s past 9 games on the road, while hitting in 4 of the previous 5 tries against Big 12 opponents.

For OK State, the Under is 5-2-1 in the previous 8 non-conference tilts and an impressive 7-1-1 in the past 9 in September.
