Celtics at Bulls picks and predictions

Prediction

Celtics 124, Bulls 111

Moneyline

PASS.

There is no value on the Celtics (-300), who have won 9 of their last 10 games and 18 of their last 20.

Against the spread

BET CELTICS -7.5 (-105).

Boston has been playing some of its best basketball recently and is 7-3 ATS in its last 10 games. The Celtics are 17-15-3 ATS on the road this season and face a Chicago team that is 16-18-1 ATS at home and 4-6 ATS in its last 10. With the Celtics playing at such a high level, they are the smart bet in this matchup.

Over/Under

BET OVER 221.5 (-110).

Boston has scored 117 or more points in each of its last 8 games and will carry a majority of the load for the Over. It has been firing on all cylinders on offense with 4 players scoring at least 19 points in Friday’s victory. The Bulls have scored 110 or more points in each of their last 5 games and 127 in 2 of their last 3.

Boston Celtics at Chicago Bulls odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Boston Celtics at Chicago Bulls odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Chicago Bulls (1-2) host the Boston Celtics (3-0) at the United Center Monday. Tip is set for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Celtics vs. Bulls odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Bulls are coming into this game after being slaughtered by the Cleveland Cavaliers at home. Friday’s 128-96 loss was their 2nd straight. They did beat the Miami Heat on the road 116-108 to open up the season.

Chicago is led by F DeMar DeRozan, who is averaging 27.3 points per game and is shooting 52% from the field and 40% from downtown. DeRozan was an All-Star last season.

As for Boston, it is looking to stay perfect. The Celtics lost to the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals last season and then added G Malcolm Brogdon in the offseason.

The Celtics beat the Orlando Magic 126-120, but failed to cover as 8.5-point favorites. They beat the Philadelphia 76ers in their season opener and also have taken down the Heat on the road.

Celtics at Bulls picks and predictions

Prediction

Celtics 110, Bulls 108

Moneyline

PASS.

With Caruso in the lineup, the Bulls should be much better defensively, and while that could be enough to give Boston its 1st loss, I would rather take the points and bank on a close battle.

Against the spread

BET BULLS +4.5 (-112).

Caruso has developed into 1 of the best on-ball defenders over the past few seasons. Couple that with DeRozan, who torched a very aggressive Miami defense earlier in the season for 37 points, and the Bulls should have enough firepower to consistently score on the Celtics’ defense, which finished No. 1 in defensive rating last season.

The Celtics have a solid roster, but F Jayson Tatum and G Jaylen Brown are not going to both shoot over 50% for the entirety of the season. They’ve had good early-season success, but they should cool off.

In a good buy-low situation for Chicago, back the Bulls +4.5 (-112) here.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 222.5 (-110).

The Celtics had the best defensive rating last season and rank 25th this season despite little turnover. They will improve defensively. Boston ranks 25th in pace as well.

With Caruso back for the Bulls and the Celtics expected to regress in their shooting efficiency, I’d back the Under 222.5 (-110) here.

Boston Celtics at Chicago Bulls odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Boston Celtics at Chicago Bulls and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Chicago Bulls (45-34) play the second of a back-to-back Wednesday when they host the Boston Celtics (49-30). Tip-off at the United Center is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Celtics vs. Bulls odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Boston is 4-2 straight up (SU) and against the spread (ATS) in the last 14 days, which includes consecutive wins over the Indiana Pacers and Washington Wizards.

Chicago got boat raced Tuesday 127-106 at home by the Milwaukee Bucks for a second straight loss. The Bulls are 3-4 SU and ATS in the last two weeks.

These teams are tied 1-1 SU in their season series, but Chicago has covered four straight meetings with Boston.

Celtics at Bulls odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Celtics 112, Bulls 107

Money line

PASS because there are too many big names on the injury report and there are reasons to question both teams’ motivation in this spot.

The Bulls (+230) clinched the 6-seed and don’t have to worry about being in the play-in tourney. Perhaps Chicago wants to overtake the Raptors for fifth in the East to avoid the current 3-seed, Bucks.

Boston (-300) is way too expensive here and both Tatum and Brown have shown up on the injury report. Plus this is Boston’s first game in a back-to-back with a visit the Bucks Thursday.

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

LEAN to the BULLS +6.5 (-105) because everyone is betting the Celtics -6.5 (-120) and typically it pays to be on the same side as the House.

With even a slight possibility of Tatum and Brown missing Wednesday, there’s no way I’m following the herd and betting Boston here.

However, I LEAN to the BULLS +6.5 (-105) because my only handicapping angles are “fade the public,” Boston’s injury report and “it’s a ‘look-ahead’ spot for the Celtics -6.5 (-120).”

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 223.5 (-110) because the Celtics-Bulls total has been lowered from a 225-point opener to 220 points and then back up to it’s current line. That’s just too much line movement considering Boston has one of the best defenses in the NBA and Chicago is 22nd in offensive rating over the past seven games.

It’s only a LEAN to the OVER 220.5 (-110) with elite scorers such as LaVine, Tatum and Brown are in the injury report.

Boston Celtics at Chicago Bulls odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Boston Celtics at Chicago Bulls NBA betting odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Boston Celtics (9-6) visit the Windy City Monday for a 9 p.m. ET game with the Chicago Bulls (7-9) at United Center. Below, we analyze the Celtics-Bulls NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Boston has struggled without All-Star SF Jayson Tatum in the lineup and is just 2-3 straight up and against the spread in the five games he has missed. The Celtics have two blowout wins by 27 or more points to bracket a three-game losing skid. The worst of the losses was a 30-point smacking at the hands of the New York Knicks on homecourt.

The Bulls have been trending in the opposite direction recently and are 3-2 overall and ATS in their last five games. They almost snuck in the backdoor to cover as 9.5-point underdogs in a 101-90 loss at home against the Los Angeles Lakers Saturday.

Chicago had won three straight games and lost the previous four games by 4 or fewer points. The Bulls have been making bettors money lately, covering the spread in eight of their last 10 games.

That being said, the Celtics-Bulls’ recent history has been one-sided with Boston winning and covering in eight of the last 10 meetings with Chicago.

Celtics at Bulls: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Celtics 113, Bulls 111

Money line (ML)

PASS with a lean on the Bulls (+145) since I plan to take Chicago to cover the spread. The problem with betting the Bulls to win outright is how late we’d be to the party.

According to Pregame.com, this game opened with Chicago at +215 on the money line but the market is barreling into the Bulls. The market action is based mostly on how good of a bet the Bulls have been the past few weeks.

Against the spread (ATS)

In their five games without Tatum in the lineup, the Celtics weren’t much less efficient in terms of net rating. They’re ranked seventh for the season and were 11th in five games without Tatum, but Chicago has played increasingly well over that same time span.

The Bulls are right behind Boston in net rating over their last five games whereas they were 24th in net rating prior. Furthermore, Chicago is shooting the ball well and doing a great job on the boards since Jan. 15, ranking fourth in rebounding percentage and sixth in effective field-goal percentage).

While the return of Tatum will surely be the biggest story Monday, that information is already baked into the line. I lean BULLS +4.5 (-110) for a half-unit only because, like the money line market, we are getting here a little late.

Over/Under (O/U)

Chicago’s defense has been really good over its past five games: The Bulls are sixth in defensive rating and second in opponent’s 3-point percentage in that time span.

Also, perhaps we’re getting some value on the Under since Boston scored 141 points yesterday and Chicago has scored 117 or more points in five of its last six games.

GIMME UNDER 228.5 (-110) for a quarter-unit.
