The LSU Tigers baseball team was crowned the champions of the 2023 College World Series on Monday night, capping off an exciting run with an 18-4 win over the Florida Gators in Omaha, Neb.

It was exactly what the team needed after it gave up an MCWS record of 24 runs in Game 2 as the Tigers came back in the winner-take-all contest to put on one of their best offensive performances over recent times.

LSU alum and current New Orleans Saints safety Tyrann Mathieu, who attended games in Omaha, was among the many who took to Twitter to congratulate his alma mater.

“All of Tiger Nation is proud! We will remember you guys for as long as the sun sets in the western sky,” he wrote.

Just as much as this team will be remembered by the LSU faithful, so is Mathieu, who will forever be a legend at a school famous for massive success in every sport. Mathieu finished out his LSU career with 136 combined tackles (96 solo), six sacks, seven forced fumbles and four interceptions.
