Reviewing the 2023 NFL draft haul for the Browns

Did you miss the draft this weekend? Review all of their picks here!

While the Cleveland Browns traded out of their seventh round pick, racking up a sixth round pick next year, they did make seven selections in the 2023 NFL draft. And while they did not come on the clock until the third round of the 2023 NFL draft, the Browns plucked great value off the board when they came on the clock. Did you miss draft weekend? If so, no worries! Here we will review the Browns’ draft from Cedric Tillman to Luke Wypler.

We have you covered here as we review each selection the Browns made and compare where they were selected to my big board as well as the industry consensus big board created by Pro Football Network’s Arif Hasan.

WATCH: The Browns call pick no. 74 Cedric Tillman to bring him to Cleveland

The wide receiver is ready to make plays in Cleveland.

It took a while, but the Cleveland Browns finally made a selection in the 2023 NFL draft in the third round at pick no. 74, taking wide receiver Cedric Tillman. He had been somewhat of a forgotten man after injury limited him this past season and Jalin Hyatt getting most of the attention. But Tillman is a good savvy player that can just get it done on Sundays.

General manager Andrew Berry and head coach Kevin Stefanski talked to Tillman to let him know they selected him as he had a giant smile on his face. The Browns have added a lot of talent to the wide receiver this offseason setting up the potential for a potent passing attack.

2023 NFL Draft: The best third-round picks

Third-round picks can have first-round value, and here are the third-round prospects in the 2023 draft most ready to transcend their current status.

Alvin Kamara. Fred Warner. Cooper Kupp. Mark Andrews. Orlando Brown, Jr. Chris Godwin. Terry McLaurin. Trey Hendrickson. Kareem Hunt.

All players taken in the third rounds of their respective drafts over the last few years, and nearly all of them would be first-round (or early second-round) picks in any re-draft.

Maybe you came from a smaller school. Maybe you showed up at combine unready to back up your tape. Maybe you played at a position that has a decreased sense of value in the NFL today. Whatever the reason, just because the league doesn’t deem you worthy of anything more than a third-round selection doesn’t mean that you can’t transcend it with your play on the field.

Among the players selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL draft, here are the ones I believe most ready to do just that.

Instant reaction: Grading the Browns’ selection of WR Cedric Tillman

How does the selection of Cedric Tillman grade out for the Browns?

The 2023 NFL draft is finally underway for the Cleveland Browns who have taken Tennesee’s Cedric Tillman with pick 74. Tillman’s teammate Jalin Hyatt, who went a pick before him, got most of the attention in this cycle, especially with his inconsistencies and missed time with injury in 2022.

If you watch Tillman, especially in 2021 when he was healthy, you see a big strong player that can win those contested catch chances consistently. There are some injury concerns with Tillman but it’s hard to argue with his tape when he is on the field. Let’s take a look at how the selection of Tillman grades for the Browns in the third round.

Watch the moment Cedric Tillman gets his name called

The Cleveland Browns have a new wide receiver in their room, joining Elijah Moore and Marquise Goodwin as the newcomers as the offense takes massive strides to get more explosive offensively. Selecting him with pick no. 74 in the 2023 NFL draft, the Browns have added the 6-foot-3 Tennessee wide receiver Cedric Tillman to their roster.

The Browns have done us all a favor, tweeting out the video of the moment that Tillman got his name called. With legend Hanford Dixon at the podium, Tillman’s name will ring in his head forever as it is a moment he will never forget. Watch it here!

Twitter reacts to Browns selection of Tennessee WR Cedric Tillman

Here is how social media received the selection:

The Cleveland Browns finally made a pick in the 2023 NFL draft, landing Tennessee wide receiver Cedric Tillman. A savvy Senior wide receiver, Tillman is a bully at the catchpoint who is not afraid to initiate contact on defensive backs down the field.

Here is how Twitter reacted to the Browns welcoming a new wide receiver into the room.

The Cleveland Browns have finally made a selection in the 2023 NFL draft. Using pick no. 74 on a wide receiver, they travel to the University of Tennessee to land veteran, savvy wide receiver Cedric Tillman. Wide receiver entered as a team need for the Browns, so they made their move to address it with the Senior wide receiver.

Tillman is the 71st overall player on my big board and the eighth-ranked wide receiver. He is a big-bodied receiver, standing at 6-foot-3 and 213 pounds who is not afraid to bully cornerbacks in the air. Looking to get more explosive offensively, the Browns round out their wide receiver room.
