The Cleveland Browns seem secure with their selections in the 2023 NFL draft, and with mandatory minicamp underway, it seems that one rookie is standing out more than the rest.

Third-round pick Cedric Tillman caught head coach Kevin Stefanski’s eye during workouts on Tuesday and was the subject of comments after practice. Stefanski was sure to praise all rookies for being quick learners but singled out Tillman as a top performer.

“I think Ced [Cedric Tillman] has done a nice job,” The head coach said, “like a lot of our rookies he’s swimming at times. We’re throwing a lot of information at them, he’s very very very intelligent, so he’s getting it, but it’s a lot. We don’t want to give them just pieces of it, we want to give them everything and just make them feel how much they have to work at this thing. A lot of our rookies, Ced included, are inundated with information and meetings and he’s doing a really nice job.”

Cleveland will lean on the younger members of their roster throughout the 2023 season as they look to get back to playoff contention after a disappointing 7-11 last year. With the likes of Tillman to help buoy their offense, the Browns should have plenty of help to that end if his development is progressing the way Stefanski described on Tuesday.

NFL features Browns QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson in Rookie Premiere video

#Browns fans got a glimpse into Thompson-Robinson’s personality in a recent video released by the NFL after the Rookie Premiere event in May

The NFL went behind the scenes with Cleveland Browns quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson at the Rookie Premiere event in May and gave fans a glimpse into his personality as he bonded with other former college stars. A video posted to Twitter on Friday shows a “day in the life” of a rookie at the marketing-based gathering of first-year players.

Thompson-Robinson’s charisma was on full display during the two-minute video, as he led viewers through his preparation routine early in the morning before getting presented with his No. 17 Browns jersey for photo shoots.

He was accompanied by Cleveland’s third-round pick Cedric Tillman, who made sure that the Browns were well-represented at the gathering and started building chemistry with the rookie quarterback.

The pair talked about potential touchdown celebrations, went through different motions for the NFL’s cameramen to get action shots for promotional materials, and looked to be having a great time.

At the video’s end, Thompson-Robinson took some time to send a message to the fans.

“To all my Browns fans, I love you,” He said. “I can’t wait to see you in preseason rocking the stadium out.”

Surely, Thompson-Robinson seems to be a larger-than-life character heading into his first season as a professional athlete, and the shoutout at the end of the video is sure to buy him some cachet with the Cleveland faithful. Watch for him to compete for reps as a backup in training camp and for his bond with Tillman to be a key storyline through the preseason when the two take the field for their first snaps in the NFL.

Will Deshaun Watson rebound in 2023 fantasy football?

Will we see a major rebound after two lost seasons?

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson went from being a premium fantasy football commodity to embattled in a sexual harassment scandal that cost him all of 2021 and the first 13 weeks of the ’22 season. He returned in Week 13 to look as rusty as one would expect following such a lengthy layoff, completing 12 of his 22 attempts for a mere 131 yards and an interception. It didn’t get much better from there.

No one should have been surprised by the lack of passing success over the six-game stretch last year, though Watson showed glimpses of his trademark rushing skills. We saw a small sample of his former self during the final two games of the regular season as he accounted for five touchdown throws and posted 23.6 and 23.9 fantasy points, respectively. In total, he completed a career-low 58.2 percent of his passes for 183.7 yards per game and averaged only 17.8 points in fake football. His previous career low was 24.8 points in 2018.

This year, the Cleveland Browns sent third round wide receiver Cedric Tillman and fifth round quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

Thompson-Robinson got a welcome to the league from his favorite player growing up in New York Jets’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and now they got to show off their new threads at the event. Take a look here as both Thompson-Robinson and Tillman flash their new brown and orange threads at the NFLPA Rookie Premiere.

Rookie stat projections: Cleveland Browns

Projecting the rookie stat contributions from the Cleveland Browns NFL draft class of 2023

With the NFL draft over and rookie camps underway, it is a good time to evaluate the draft picks and see what kind of impacts the projected contributors will make.

Let’s take a look at the Cleveland Browns draft picks and project some stats for the team’s early draftees:

Browns announce jersey numbers for all seven 2023 NFL draft picks

The Browns have announced rookie numbers

It took the Cleveland Browns longer than most NFL teams, but they have finally announced the numbers their 2023 NFL draft class will wear during their rookie season. As rookie minicamp is set to start today, we will get our first glance at the newest members of the Browns and how they look in their new numbers, and in the orange and brown.

Here are the numbers each member of the rookie class will wear in Cleveland in 2023. As always, these numbers are subject to change as the 90-man roster continues to get cut down to 53 by the end of training camp.

ESPN’s Mike Clay is not a believer in the Browns’ wide receivers

Should the Browns group be higher on the list?

Though the Cleveland Browns wide receiver group was better in 2022 they needed to improve the group this offseason. They did just that by trading for speedster Elijah Moore, drafting Cedric Tillman, and signing veteran Marquise Goodwin. Despite this ESPN’s Mike Clay released his wide receiver rankings and the Browns found themselves at 21 behind both the Steelers and Ravens.

The Ravens have had one of the worst groups the last couple of seasons and outside of adding Odell Beckham Jr, there isn’t much-proven talent on that roster. The same can be said with the Steelers whose only real addition to the room is Allen Robinson who is way past his prime.

The Browns have one of the best route runners in the league in Amari Cooper, Donovan Peoples-Jones who had 839 yards playing with a backup QB most of the year, and dynamic play-making from Elijah Moore. It is a group that still needs to prove something but has the talent to be higher on the list than 21.

PFF moves Browns up significantly in their power rankings

PFF agrees with the moves the Browns have made.

By all accounts, it has been a great offseason for the Cleveland Browns, on paper anyways. Additions like Juan Thornhill, Dalvin Tomlinson, and Ogbonnia Okoronkwo should make the defense significantly better.

PFF has released their post-draft power rankings and the Browns saw a jump from 21 pre-draft to ninth with everything they have done.

“The Browns shored up their defense this offseason by adding safety Juan Thornhill, defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson and edge Ogbonnia Okoronkwo. Drafting Siaki Ika, who posted a 76.4 PFF pass-rushing grade and an 11.6% pass-rush win rate in 2022, will morph their defense into a force to be reckoned with. Cleveland also added to its receiving corps by drafting Tennessee wide receiver Cedric Tillman.”

Podcast: Breaking down the film on new Browns WR Cedric Tillman

The film shows why the Browns picked Tillman

The Cleveland Browns have added a good amount of talent to the wide receiver room both in free agency and now the draft selecting Cedric Tillman at pick no. 74. When you look at the film for Tillman you see a big physical player that possesses good body control and the ability to win jump ball and contested catch situations.

Though he isn’t a traditional burner-style player he can still run past you with good long speed on vertical routes. He needs to improve his route tree as he wasn’t asked to have a diverse one at Tennesee. You can watch this podcast looking at Tillman’s film by clicking here.
