Florida receives two crystal ball predictions for legacy 4-star RB

When could Florida see four-star running back Treyaun Webb hop on board after these crystal ball predictions?

Four-star running back [autotag]Treyaun Webb[/autotag] said after one of his visits earlier this month that he thought about committing to Florida before departing campus. Webb and his cousin and former star Gators cornerback [autotag]Dee Webb[/autotag] visited the Swamp again this past weekend.

247Sports’ Florida recruiting reporters Blake Alderman and Jacob Rudner have opted to submit crystal ball predictions with high confidence of seven for Webb after another strong visit to the Gators this weekend.

Webb hails from nearby Jacksonville, Florida, and plays for Trinity Christian that have produced players like Ohio State cornerback Shaun Wade, Florida wide receiver [autotag]Marcus Burke[/autotag], Florida State and Indiana receiver D.J. Matthews Jr. recently. The 247Sports composite rankings have Webb as the 116th overall prospect and as the fifth-best running back in the country.

Coach [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] had his work cut out for him once he took over the Gators program. Florida was an afterthought for Webb under previous head coach [autotag]Dan Mullen[/autotag]. They quickly surged up his leaderboard and became the favorite.

Napier and running backs coach [autotag]Jabbar Juluke[/autotag] want to take two tailbacks this cycle. The top target on their board is [autotag]Cedric Baxter Jr.[/autotag] and would love to couple him with Webb.

Visit pushed back for one of Florida’s top running back targets

Four-star running back Cedric Baxter Jr. scootched his visit with the Gators back a couple of days.

Four-star running back Cedric Baxter Jr. is arguably Florida’s top target at the position along with Richard Young and Treyaun Webb this cycle. After his first visit to see the new look Gators under coach Billy Napier in January, Baxter wasted little time setting up another visit to the Swamp in March. However, he informed 247Sports Wednesday that he will push his visit back a few days to the 20th of March.

Running backs coach Jabbar Juluke and Napier have led the charge in his recruitment and made a strong impression on him during his last visit. He said his visit to Florida was his favorite so far and that the people stood out to him the most.

The Gators staff like Baxter because he is a three-down back who can get it done in the running or passing game. Juluke told him during his January visit that he likes his ability to run inside or outside the tackle.

Blue-chip 2023 running back set to visit Florida again

Cedric Baxter Jr. will be on campus on March 18 for what will be a busy recruiting weekend in Gainesville.

The running back position was a major priority for coach Billy Napier in his transition class. Though he eventually only signed one, he also added another in the transfer portal in Montrell Johnson, who followed him from Louisiana.

As Napier turns his attention to the 2023 class, it seems the position is set to be prioritized once again. Florida has been heavily recruiting Orlando Edgewater prospect Cedric Baxter Jr. He’s already visited Gainesville once back in January, and according to 247Sports’ Blake Alderman, he’s set for a return trip on March 18.

Baxter is a four-star recruit and the No. 4 running back (No. 69 overall) on the 247Sports Composite. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound back has offers from many of the nation’s top programs, including Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, Texas A&M and USC. He is also set for a trip to Los Angeles to visit with the Trojans on March 5.

Running backs coach Jabbar Juluke has built a solid relationship with Baxter. He held an offer under the previous staff, but Juluke was the coach to re-offer him.

“He brought up my film and told me how much he loved it,” Baxter said of Juluke following last month’s visit. “He said I am versatile. I can run in between the tackles, I can run outside of the tackles. He was telling me about his history of backs he’s coached. It was amazing hanging out with them.”

Florida only currently has one commit in the 2023 class, four-star Sharpsburg, Georgia, athlete Aaron Gates. The class ranks 41st nationally and 12th among SEC teams, so Napier certainly has a bit of work to do.
