Casey Mize to make MLB debut for Detroit Tigers this week

The former Auburn standout was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft.

Welcome to the majors, Casey Mize!

The former Auburn standout and No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft is set to make his MLB debut for the Detroit Tigers sometime this week, the team announced on Monday.

Mize is the eighth-ranked overall prospect in all of MLB and the Tigers No. 2 prospect behind newly-drafted Spencer Torkelson. Last year at two different levels, the right-hander went 8-3 with a 2.55 ERA over 109 1/3 innings.

In his debut at Double-A Erie, Mize went the distance in a complete-game no-hitter against Altoona.
