Gimme Him: One player the Chiefs would steal from the Panthers

Which Carolina #Panthers player would we pick to add to the Kansas City #Chiefs’ roster for the rest of the regular season?

The Kansas City Chiefs are set to face the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium in Week 11 action on November 24.

This matchup is expected to result in an easy win for the 9-1 Chiefs, who are looking to bounce back after their first regular season loss. The 3-7 Panthers have struggled all season and would need to mount a heroic effort to hand Kansas City its second defeat.

On Chiefs Wire, we are conducting a thought experiment. We’ll call this game of hypotheticals ‘Gimme Him.’

Let’s imagine that the Chiefs could make a trade for any one of Carolina’s most valuable players for nothing in return.

Which Panther would make the most impact for Kansas City through the rest of the season?

Carolina’s offense focuses heavily on the ground game, which has given running back Chuba Hubbard an opportunity to make a name for himself as one of the NFL’s most reliable rushers. Hubbard has carried the ball 161 times this season for 818 yards.

While Kansas City already has stellar running backs and the Chiefs are often more inclined to let Patrick Mahomes throw the ball than rely on their run game, having a breakout rusher like Hubbard could be a great asset for Andy Reid’s offense.

When Kansas City visits Carolina this weekend the defense must keep Hubbard’s yardage limited.

It is unclear when Andy Reid intends to get Pacheco back to action, but given Hunt’s outstanding performance as Kansas City’s lead back, it is unlikely that he will be rushed back into the starting lineup.

Announcers set for Chiefs vs. Panthers Week 12 game

See which broadcasters will be calling the Kansas City #Chiefs’ Week 12 matchup against the Carolina #Panthers on Sunday, November 24.

In Week 12, the Kansas City Chiefs (9-1) are heading to visit the Carolina Panthers (3-7) in hopes of beginning a new winning streak after their loss Week 11 when the Buffalo Bills (9-2) ended their nine-game streak that kicked off the season.

Sunday’s Week 12 tilt is scheduled to air on CBS with kickoff taking place at 12:00 p.m. CT. Ian Eagle (play-by-play) and Charles Davis (analyst) will be the commentators calling the game for fans watching on TV.

The Chiefs were competitive against the Bills last week however some notable failures by the team led to a 30-21 loss to end the hopes of a perfect season for Kansas City. Allowing Buffalo to score two touchdowns in the fourth quarter ensured the Chiefs’ first defeat.

Fortunately for Kansas City, the Panthers look to be a much easier club than the Bills. If the Chiefs play the way did while they were on the winning streak, they look good to finish it ahead by two touchdowns.

Panthers name starting center for Week 12 matchup vs. Chiefs

Panthers HC Dave Canales has tabbed Cade Mays as the team’s starting center for Week 12.

The Carolina Panthers have a pretty good problem at the center position, where both Brady Christensen and Cade Mays have played well of late. But who will get the start there this weekend?

Head coach Dave Canales, in his post-practice presser on Wednesday, officially gave Mays the nod for their Week 12 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. Sunday will mark the third straight start at center for the former sixth-round pick, who rejoined the team on Oct. 8.

“Yeah, Cade Mays took the snaps with the first group today,” Canales told reporters. “Brady took snaps as well, and he does some other things too. But Damien [Lewis] was out today with an illness. He’ll be back tomorrow, hopefully. So Chandler [Zavala] got some good work in there.

“The group, again, when one guy goes down, next guy come up and try to continue to just take the next step forward.”

Christensen was the initial replacement at center for Week 1 starter Austin Corbett, whose campaign was cut short after just five games due to a triceps tear. He’d then have to kick out to left tackle in place of an injured Ikem Ekwonu for the last two weeks, giving Mays his shot at center.

With Ekwonu expected to return from his ankle injury this week, Christensen will likely serve as the “sixth man” of the offensive line for the time being.

Panthers HC Dave Canales has ‘high hopes’ for RB Jonathon Brooks in Week 12

Panthers HC Dave Canales has “really high hopes” for Jonathon Brooks’ availability this Sunday against the Chiefs.

Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales seems to really like the odds of playing his second-round pick this Sunday.

Running back Jonathon Brooks, who has been sidelined for over a year due to a torn ACL, is expected to make his NFL debut in Week 12 against the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. Canales began his presser after Wednesday’s practice with an encouraging update on the 21-year-old rookie.

“Jonathon Brooks put together another great day,” he told reporters. “Really high hopes for him playing this Sunday.”

Canales was later asked about what he expects to see out of Brooks in his first piece of pro action.

“Yeah, I’m just hoping to see him play confident, play fast and be able to capture the style of football that he’s used to playing,” he replied. “I know that that’s gonna take time. But I believe that he’s physically ready to start that, go down that road and, particularly with Miles [Sanders] out, give us another running back in there with Chuba to be able to carry the load.”

Sanders was carted off from the Week 10 win over the New York Giants with an ankle injury. He did not participate in today’s session and is not expected to play this weekend.
