Carolina Panthers at Cincinnati Bengals odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Carolina Panthers at Cincinnati Bengals odds and lines, with expert NFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Carolina Panthers (2-6) are on the road in Week 9 to face the Cincinnati Bengals (4-4) on Sunday at Paycor Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Panthers vs. Bengals odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Panthers lost 37-34 in overtime to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 8, but covered as 4.5-points underdogs. RB D’Onta Foreman has 236 rushing yards and 3 TDs in the last 2 games following the trade of RB Christian McCaffrey.

The Bengals were blown out 32-13 by the Cleveland Browns in Week 8 as they failed to cover as 3-point favorites on the road. Cincinnati will be without WR Ja’Marr Chase for a 2nd straight game, which limits the offense’s ability to create big plays in the passing game.

Panthers at Bengals picks and predictions

Prediction

Bengals 24, Panthers 20

Moneyline

Given the massive odds in favor of the Bengals, I’ll PASS on betting on the moneyline in this game. Taking Cincinnati to win at home will net you nearly nothing in return, so it isn’t worth the risk.

Against the spread

PANTHERS +7.5 (-117) is where I’ll be going in this game with the struggles that Cincinnati’s offense could have with Chase sidelined. Meanwhile, Carolina has been much more competitive with coach Steve Wilks following the firing of Matt Rhule.

The Panthers have covered the spread in 2 straight games and they are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings against the Bengals.

Over/Under

Give me OVER 42.5 (-110) as I believe these teams can hit the low total despite the struggles from both offenses we’ve seen at times this season. The Bengals have enough weapons in WR Tee Higgins, WR Tyler Boyd, and RB Joe Mixon to score a decent number of points on Sunday.

The Over is 4-0 in Carolina’s last 4 road games against a team with a winning home record.

First look: Carolina Panthers at Cincinnati Bengals odds and lines

Looking at Sunday’s Carolina Panthers at Cincinnati Bengals Week 9 NFL odds, lines and trends. Here’s what you need to know.

The Carolina Panthers (2-6) travel to the Queen City to take on the Cincinnati Bengals (4-4) Sunday at 1 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we look at Panthers vs. Bengals odds from Tipico Sportsbook; check back for all our NFL picks and predictions.

After a tough 33-14 division loss Monday night at the Cleveland Browns, the Bengals return home looking to get back into the AFC North race. With WR Ja’Marr Chase (hip) missing, the Bengals offense took a nosedive. It only had 36 yards rushing and was outgained 440 to 229 yards by Cleveland. The offense will need to perform better at home if the Bengals want to get through this storm and come out the other side still standing.

The Panthers almost pulled off a magical comeback Sunday but lost 37-34 in overtime at the Atlanta Falcons. Carolina K Eddy Piñeiro missed a 48-yard extra point — following a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after the tying TD with the 12 seconds left — and he missed a 32-yard FG attempt in overtime. Carolina led 28-24 with 3:06 to go, but Atlanta scored a TD and FG for a 34-28 lead with 36 seconds left.

Even without WR Christian McCaffrey (traded to the 49ers), the Panthers are fighting hard under interim coach Steve Wilks. Being forced by injury to go to QB P.J. Walker (317 passing yards, 1 TD Sunday) has given this team a boost and he has already been announced as the Week 9 starter.

Panthers vs. Bengals head-to-head

The Panthers and Bengals last played in September 2018 with Carolina winning at home 31-21 as a 2.5-point favorite. Both teams are vastly different from the teams which played in that game.

QB Cam Newton is gone and so is coach Ron Rivera for Carolina. For the Bengals, no longer is Marvin Lewis coach and QB Andy Dalton is now in New Orleans.

These cross-conference rivals do not have much of a history to rely on in this game. Nor do they have any recent history to look back to. If you are hoping to find an edge based on past results, this is not the game to do it in.

Carolina leads the all-time series 3-2-1 — the first meeting was in 1999.
