Cardinals to face Lamar Jackson coming off best game of season

Jackson had more than 300 passing yards, three touchdown passes and rushed for a score in a 38-6 win over the Lions.

The Arizona Cardinals’ next opponent in Week 8 are the Baltimore Ravens, led by quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Jackson, one of the most talented quarterbacks in the league, is coming off easily his best game of the season.

On Sunday, the Ravens demolished the Detroit Lions 38-6, piling up more than 500 yards of offense.

That was highlighted by Jackson’s play.

He finished with 357 passing yards and three touchdown passes, both season highs in 2023. He also added a rushing touchdown.

It was Jackson’s first 300-yard game and first three-TD pass game of the season.

The Cardinals will have no shot at all of beating the Ravens if they allow Jackson to play like that on Sunday.

In his one career game against the Cardinals in 2019, he completed 24-of-37 passes for 272 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 120 yards.

Cardinals again give up big individual offensive performances

If you are a fantasy owner, you should make sure to start your players who face the Cardinals.

If you are a fantasy owner of players who face the Arizona Cardinals, you are happy. For the fifth consecutive game, the Cardinals have given up big individual offensive performances.

In their 26-9 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, it was receiver Cooper Kupp and running back Kyren Williams.

Williams rushed for 158 yards and a touchdown. Kupp caught seven passes for 148 yards and a score.

It was the third time in four games they had an opposing running back have more than 100 yards. It was the third straight game in which an opposing receiver had more than 140 yards.

Here are some of the big performances individual players have had since Week 2:

Week 2

  • Saquon Barkley: 92 total yards (63 rushing, six catches for 29 yards), two touchdowns
  • Daniel Jones: 321 passing yards, two TD passes; 59 rushing yards and TD

Week 3

  • Tony Pollard: 122 rushing yards

Week 4

  • Christian McCaffrey: 179 total yards (108 rushing, 71 receiving yards on seven catches), four TDs (3 rushing, 1 receiving)
  • Brandon Aiyuk: six catches, 148 yards

Week 5

  • Ja’Marr Chase: 15 catches, 192 yards, 3 TDs
  • Joe Burrow: 317 passing yards, 3 TD passes

Week 6

  • Kyren Williams: 158 rushing yards, TD
  • Cooper Kupp: 7 catches, 148 yards, TD

Based on these trends, if you are a fantasy owner of Seattle Seahawks players, it is probably the week to make sure they are in the starting lineup.

Cardinals follow familiar script in loss to Rams

They are proving to be both better than we thought they would be and exactly what we expected.

The Arizona Cardinals lost their Week 6 road game to the Los Angeles Rams 26-9 on Sunday. The game followed a familiar script.

They played well in the first half but saw things fall apart in the second half.

The Cardinals led the Rams 9-6 at halftime but were outscored 17-0 in the second half.

They played well offensively and defensively in the first half.

In the second half, they were overwhelmed. Josh Dobbs turned the ball over twice.

Defensively, they were unable to contain running back Kyren Williams, who finished with 158 rushing yards and a touchdown.

For the third week in a row, they had an opposing receiver gain more than 140 yards. After 148 from San Francisco’s Brandon Aiyuk and 192 from Cincinnati’s Ja’Marr Chase, Cooper Kupp had seven catches for 148 yards.

For the third time in four weeks, an opposing running back has rushed for more than 100 yards.

They were outscored 17-0 in the second half.

So far this season, they have been outscored 95-30 in the second half. They have not scored more than eight points in the second half of any game.

They come out prepared, play hard and are competitive but mistakes, lack of talent and opponent adjustments are too much for them to overcome with the personnel they have.

The result? Another loss.

They are proving to be both better than we thought they would be and exactly what we expected.
