The Arizona Cardinals continue to have issues with injuries on offense. The latest is running back James Conner. In the third quarter of their game against the Las Vegas Raiders, trailing 20-0, Conner exited the game with an ankle injury.
It was announced that he was questionable to return.
The Cardinals are already missing receiver DeAndre Hopkins to a suspension. Tight end Zach Ertz was limited in Week 1. Rondale Moore, Antoine Wesley and Andy Isabella are hurt.
Now it is Conner.
Before exiting the game, he had 25 yards in seven attempts.
There are no surprises. They had three starters ruled out with injuries and a backup doubtful. All four of those players are inactive for the game and will not dress against the Cardinals.

Moehrig, James and Perryman were all ruled out previously. Bolden was doubtful to play with a hamstring injury.
The Cardinals get back Justin Pugh and J.J. Watt, and rookie TE Trey McBride will make his NFL debut.

They are both active after being officially questionable for the game on the final injury report of the week.
Also active is rookie tight end Trey McBride, who was a healthy scratch in Week 1.
However, in his return to Las Vegas, cornerback Trayvon Mullen, questionable for the game with a toe injury, will not dress. He is among the team’s inactives.

Smith and Ledbetter both were active last week.
Moore (hamstring) and Isabella (back) were ruled out of the game on Friday.
With both Moore and Isabella out, the Cardinals have only four healthy receivers, which is probably why McBride is active. Zach Ertz will play more and they will give McBride some looks.
Safety Jalen Thompson, questionable for the game with a toe injury, is active and will play.

The Arizona Cardinals started the season with an embarrassing loss at home against the Kansas City Chiefs. They hope to change their fortunes with a win over the Las Vegas Raiders on the road.
If the real game is anything like a simulation of the game played out on Madden NFL 23, Cardinals fans will be thrilled and Raiders fans will be concerned.
Cardinals vs. Raiders ‘Madden’ simulation
In the simulation, the Cardinals blew out the Raiders 36-3. Kyler Murray threw for 353 passing yards, James Conner had three rushing touchdowns and the defense sacked Raiders quarterback Derek Carr six times.
The Raiders did not score in the first half of the simulation.
The Cardinals scored first on a 44-yard field goal and then Conner got the first of three touchdowns with a five-yard rush to make it 10-0. Conner’s one-yard score made it 16-0 because the extra point was blocked.
Kyler Murray made it a 23-0 game in the first half with a five-yard touchdown pass to tight end Zach Ertz, and it was 26-0 before halftime after Matt Prater’s 20-yard field goal.
The Raiders got a 50-yard field goal in the third quarter and the Cardinals responded with a 52-yard kick.
The Raiders turned the ball over on downs twice and then, trying to just run out the clock, Conner broke free for a 47-yard touchdown run to complete the rout 36-3.
‘Madden’ simulation individual stats
Murray was 25-for-41 passing for 353 yards and a touchdown. He also added 30 rushing yards. He was sacked twice by Chandler Jones.
Conner had 16 carries for 112 yards and three scores.
A.J. Green led the team with seven catches for 100. Hollywood Brown had five catches for 78 yards, Zach Ertz had five for 70 and a score, and Greg Dortch had five receptions for 68 yards.
Defensively, the Cardinals had six sacks. Dennis Gardeck had two, J.J. Watt had 1.5, Isaiah Simmons and Markus Golden each had one, and Zach Allen had a half sack.
The Raiders got big contributions from receiver Davante Adams and tight end Darren Waller.
Adams had nine receptions for 112 yards and Waller had seven for 95.
Derek Carr was 18-of-40 passing for 234 yards. He did not have a touchdown pass or an interception.
Raiders running back Josh Jacobs was held to 22 yards on seven carries.
The Arizona Cardinals will get back a very important player on defense as they face the Las Vegas Raiders Sunday afternoon. Defensive lineman J.J. Watt, who missed the season opener with a calf injury is expected to play, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Watt, though, will be playing on a snap count to work him back in.
If last week’s playing time for tight end Zach Ertz, who also was playing after coming back from a calf injury, is any indication of how Watt will be used, he can be expected to play about 35 snaps against the Raiders.
Watt’s physical presence was missed the last half of last season and in the season opener.
When he played the first seven games of the season last year, the Cardinals were undefeated and had a top-five defense, even though he had almost no contribution statistically.
With him in the lineup, it will give the Cardinals their full rotation of defensive linemen. He, Zach Allen and Rashard Lawrence will likely start, while Leki Fotu, Michale Dogbe and Jonathan Ledbetter will rotate in.
The Arizona Cardinals hope to even their record at 1-1 as they play on the road for the first time this season. They face the Las Vegas Raiders, who also lost their season opener.
It is the first game that Raiders pass rusher Chandler Jones will face his former team. He is the Cardinals’ all-time leader in sacks.
The Cardinals are getting healthier. After missing J.J. Watt and Justin Pugh, both are likely to play against the Raiders, who are down three starters this weekend and will have a rookie center starting.
The Raiders are favored in this game.

The Arizona Cardinals announced a pair of roster moves Saturday afternoon, the eve of their Week 2 road matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders. Unlike last week, which had players landing on injured reserve and more, the team simply made two practice squad elevations.
They elevated cornerback Jace Whittaker and linebacker Devon Kennard for the second week in a row.
It is the second week in a row they are standard practice squad elevations. Teams can use a standard elevation on a player three times with them simply reverting to the practice squad on Monday. After that, they are exposed to waivers, except in the case of Kennard. Because Kennard is a vested veteran, he would be immediately released and could re-sign without being exposed to waivers until the trader deadline in Week 8.
Kennard played the most snaps of any outside linebacker last Sunday. Whittaker played special teams and was the team’s third cornerback when they used three cornerbacks.
