Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey is officially questionable to play against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 4 with a thigh injury. He did not practice Wednesday or Thursday and was limited in his practice reps on Friday.

However, there was optimism all week that he would play.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, McCaffrey is likely to play, although he likely will not be 100% healthy in doing so.

Schefter also noted that the decision for him to play or not will still come down to pregame warmups.

McCaffrey has rushed for over 100 yards in each of his last two games and has 243 total rushing yards and a touchdown on 4.9 yards per attempt. He also has 10 receptions for 57 yards, giving him 300 total yards from scrimmage.

Last season against the Cardinals, he had 95 rushing yards and 66 receiving yards on 10 catches in the Panthers’ 34-10 win.

The Arizona Cardinals have a number of players listed as questionable on their final injury report of the week. Three of those players, key to the offense and the defense, are expected to play Sunday afternoon against the Carolina Panthers.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, receivers Rondale Moore and Marquise Brown and defensive lineman J.J. Watt are all expected to play.

Moore will make his 2022 debut after missing the first three weeks with a hamstring injury. He was limited in practice all week and head coach Kliff Kingsbury would not commit to whether Moore would play, saying that he would have to see him move around on Sunday. But Moore sounded like a player who planned on suiting up and playing when he spoke with reporters this week.

Brown appeared on the injury report on Friday with a foot injury that has him listed as questionable for the game. He is expected to play. He is coming off his most productive game in his career. He had 14 receptions for 140 in the Cardinals’ 20-12 loss in Week 3 to the Los Angeles Rams.

Watt missed the season opener with a calf injury and played the last two games, picking up the team’s only two sacks this season. He did not practice Wednesday or Thursday and was limited on Friday. He also is expected to play.

Kicker Matt Prater is also listed as questionable with a hip injury but fans should not be concerned. The Cardinals did not sign another kicker and didn’t even bring one in for a workout. Prater will kick.

WR Rondale Moore ‘ready to compete’ in Week 4 vs. Panthers

After missing three weeks with a hamstring injury, Moore sounds like a man set on making his 2022 debut against the Panthers.

The Arizona Cardinals have taken a hit at wide receiver early this season. DeAndre Hopkins is serving a six-game suspension for testing positive for a banned performance-enhancing substance. Antoine Wesley is on injured reserve for at least one more game. Rondale Moore has missed the first three games of the season with a hamstring injury. A.J. Green has a bone bruise in his knee that is expected to keep him out of this week’s game.

But Moore could be returning this week. He has practiced on a limited for two straight days and he sounds like a player ready to play.

According to the Arizona Republic’s Bob McManaman, Moore declared himself “good, solid” and ready to play the Carolins Panthers in Week 4.

“I’m excited to be back, healthy and ready to compete,” he said.

His return would be a big boost, especially as Green is likely out. Without Green and if Moore can’t return, it leaves only Marquise Brown, Greg Dortch, Andy Isabella and Andre Baccellia as the only healthy receivers on the roster.

If Moore returns, it will give the Cardinals elite speed on the outside on both sides.

His role could be limited. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury said they would “be smart” with his usage.

The Cardinals and Panthers kick off Sunday at 1:05 p.m. Arizona time.

Despite 2 DNPs, there is still optimism that Christian McCaffrey plays vs. Cardinals

McCaffrey has missed two straight days of practice with a quad injury.

The Carolina Panthers will host the Arizona Cardinals this weekend in Week 4. They aren’t sure if their best offensive player will be able to play.

Running back Christian McCaffrey missed his second straight day of practice with a thigh injury, putting his availability in doubt to face Arizona.

However, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, there is optimism he can play. McCaffrey is keeping things close to the vest but unless he has a setback with the injury, he should be able to play.

Cardinals defensive coordinator Vance Joseph expects him to play, calling him a “special player.”

Through three weeks this season, McCaffrey has 243 rushing yards and a touchdown, averaging 4.9 yards per attempt.

Against the Cardinals last season, McCaffrey had 95 rushing yards and another 66 receiving yards on 10 receptions.

CB Antonio Hamilton unlikely to return from NFI in Week 5

Arizona Cardinals cornerback Antonio Hamilton is progressing well in his rehab, but it doesn’t sound like he’ll be ready for next Sunday’s matchup against the Eagles.

The Arizona Cardinals had a freak accident in the cornerback room when projected starter Antonio Hamilton suffered serious burns in a cooking incident.

Hamilton fortunately avoided any major long-term health complications but was placed on the NFI, putting him out at least the first four games of the season.

Following Sunday’s game with the Carolina Panthers, Hamilton is technically eligible to return by rule. However, Kliff Kingsbury didn’t sound overly optimistic that he would be available for Week 5’s contest with the Philadelphia Eagles.

“He’s moving around good,” he said Wednesday after practice. “Next week maybe a little aggressive, but we’re hopeful. I think we’ve got to get him out there to see what he’s retained as far as the football stuff, see how he moves around and make sure he is comfortable, but he looks good in his in his rehab.”

Hamilton posted videos on social media of him going through defensive back drills and looked to be in good shape. The Cardinals could use Hamilton back on the field sooner rather than later, as he was the projected No. 2 cornerback before his injury.

Having Hamilton in the fold allows the Cardinals to move Byron Murphy around in the slot and feel comfortable with their two outside corners in Hamilton and Marco Wilson.

The Cardinals could be looking at serious reinforcements in the following weeks with the return of DeAndre Hopkins, Rondale Moore and Hamilton.
