Cardinals activate Marquise Brown from IR, place Zach Ertz, D.J. Humphries on IR

Marquise Brown makes his return to the lineup but D.J. Humphries will now have to miss at least another four games.

The Arizona Cardinals announced three roster moves related to injured reserve. Two were expected and one was a surprise.

Wide receiver Marquise Brown was activated from IR and will play on Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers. He was designated to return in Week 11. He has been out since Week 6. It will be the first time he and DeAndre Hopkins will be on the field together for a game.

They placed tight end Zach Ertz on injured reserve, a move that had not yet happened. He already has season-ending knee surgery. He suffered the injury in Week 10 against the Los Angeles Rams.

They also placed left tackle D.J. Humphries on injured reserve. He missed three of the last four games with it and now will have to miss at least the next four.

The Cardinals now have four of their original five starting offensive linemen on injured reserve. Josh Jones will start at left tackle. Right tackle Kelvin Beachum is the only one left who has not gotten hurt.

Marquise Brown expected to play vs. Chargers

Brown will get his first game action since injuring his foot at the end of the game in Week 6.

The Arizona Cardinals have lost pass catchers several times this season. This week, it looks like they get one back.

On Sunday when the Cardinals take on the Los Angeles Chargers at State Farm Stadium, receiver Marquise Brown is expected to suit up.

He is likely to be activated from injured reserve on Saturday.

“It looks good. He looked good today,” Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury said on Friday. “He’s been progressing and I feel good about him playing Sunday.”

Brown has been out since he injured his foot on the final offensive play against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 6.

Before he got hurt, he had 43 receptions for 485 yards and three touchdowns.

His return will be especially welcome with Rondale Moore being out this weekend with a groin injury and Greg Dortch being questionable with a thumb injury.

The Cardinals and Chargers kick off at 2:05 p.m. Arizona time.

Kyler Murray full participant for 2nd straight day in new injury report

Have a look at the Cardinals’ second injury report of the week.

The Arizona Cardinals did not hold a full practice Thursday with a short week. It was a walkthrough for the second day in a row. But the release of the injury report noted two improvements and one bit of news that continues to look good — quarterback Kyler Murray was listed as a full participant for the second day in a row.

Six players, though, were still non-participants.

The details are below.

Marquise Brown to have limited snap count if activated for Chargers

Kliff Kingsbury is hopeful Brown can be activated this week but he will be given a limited role if he is.

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marquise Brown is on the second week of his three-week window to be activated from injured reserve. He was designated to return last week but not activated to play on Monday night.

There is a good chance he will be activated to play this Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers.

However, if he is activated, the Cardinals will limit him.

“I’m hoping we can get something at him, maybe limited, but hopefully we can get him back out there,” Kliff Kingsbury said Wednesday.  “Yeah. Just more of a pitch count if he’s able to go.”

Brown’s return would be welcome because of Rondale Moore’s injury.

It would be the first time that DeAndre Hopkins and Brown play together this season.

WR Rondale Moore to miss at least 1 game with groin injury

His groin injury will keep him out at least one week. Hopefully, he will be able to return after the bye week.

The Arizona Cardinals are not getting any help with their injuries. The latest is to wide receiver Rondale Moore. He suffered a groin injury two plays into the game against the San Francisco 49ers Monday night, exited the game and did not return.

Now he is going to miss some time.

“It does not look like he’ll be available this week,” Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury told reporters Wednesday. “We’ll see how he trends, but I think it’ll at least be a week.”

Moore’s replacement this weekend would be Greg Dortch, but he is also dealing with a thumb injury, which has him day-to-day.

The Cardinals signed receiver Pharoh Cooper, who played slot receiver and returned kicks and punts for the Cardinals in 2019, to the practice squad. He would be the backup plan to Dortch if he isn’t able to play on Sunday.

Moore missed three games earlier this season with a hamstring injury.

So far this season, in eight games, Moore has 41 receptions for 414 yards and a touchdown.

Kyler Murray feels good, believes he will play Sunday vs. Chargers

Murray made it sound on Wednesday that he could have started against the 49ers had he gotten more practice time.

It appears that Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray will miss only two games with the hamstring injury he sustained or aggravated in Week 9 against the Seattle Seahawks.

After missing the last two games, Murray was a full participant in Wednesday’s walkthrough.

He was asked after practice whether he thinks he will be able to play this Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers.

“I do,” he said. “I feel good.”

The Cardinals went 1-1 with Murray sidelined and with Colt McCoy in the starting lineup.

It sounds like Murray potentially could have played against the 49ers, but the plan was for McCoy to start for a few reasons.

“It was one of those things where that was the first time I had really opened up to that speed, but it was just a process type of thing,” he explained. “I didn’t really get the reps during the week. I also had to see how the hammy felt and see how I felt. That was the plan the whole time.”

Assuming there are no setbacks before the end of the week, Murray will be on the field Sunday afternoon to battle against the Chargers.

Kyler Murray a full participant on Cardinals’ first injury report of the week

Check out the details of the Cardinals’ first injury report of the week as they prepare to take on the Chargers.

The Arizona Cardinals began the week of work in Week 12 with a walkthrough instead of a full practice on Wednesday. They will do the same on Thursday. But with the release of the first injury report of the week, it looks like quarterback Kyler Murray can be back in the starting lineup if things keep looking like they did on Wednesday.

Six players were listed as non-participants for the walkthrough, another three were limited and one was a full participant.

The details of the first injury report of the week are below.
