Cam Reddish will miss at least two weeks with sprained ankle

The Lakers will be without a key rotation player for at least a couple of weeks.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been unable to get or stay healthy for a sustained stretch this season. In addition to many minor injuries that have forced several players to miss a few games at a time, they have had to deal with a number of more serious injuries.

Guard Gabe Vincent, who was supposed to play a key role on both ends of the floor, has played five games due to a knee ailment. He recently underwent a procedure and is expected to be out until at least late February.

Forward Cam Reddish has been one of L.A.’s most banged-up players this season. He has missed 11 games, including four of the team’s last six contests.

He will be shelved for at least two more weeks due to a right ankle sprain.

Via ESPN:

“Los Angeles Lakers forward Cam Reddish is nursing a right ankle sprain and will be re-evaluated in two weeks, the team announced Friday.

“Reddish sustained the injury during the fourth quarter of the Lakers’ 127-116 setback to the LA Clippers on Tuesday. He sat out the Lakers’ 141-132 win over the Chicago Bulls on Thursday.”

Until recently, Reddish was a consistent starter for head coach Darvin Ham. He’s averaging 6.7 points on 40.5% field-goal shooting and 33.7% from 3-point range on the season.

Cam Reddish has been ruled out of Monday’s Lakers vs. Thunder game

The Lakers will be without one of their starters when they host the Thunder on Monday.

The Los Angeles Lakers have lost 12 of their last 17 games, and with a 19-21 record, they’re currently out of the Western Conference playoff picture. Although each of their next six games will take place at Crypto.com Arena, the schedule will not get easier for them.

They host the Oklahoma City Thunder (27-11), who are second in the West,  on Monday. To make matters worse, they will be without one of their starters in that contest.

Forward Cam Reddish, who has played limited minutes in the last two games, will not appear in Monday’s game due to swelling in his left knee.

In fact, he could end up being out of action for a little while.

Reddish has consistently started games for L.A. since early November, but his numbers have been lackluster. He had previously missed games with a groin ailment.

It’s time for the Lakers to bench Cam Reddish

By now, it’s been proven that Lakers forward Cam Reddish is incapable of making a positive impact, and his role needs to be diminished.

When the Los Angeles Lakers signed forward Cam Reddish to a veteran’s minimum contract this past summer, not much was expected of him. Despite being a lottery pick in 2019, he had failed to amount to anything meaningful in four NBA seasons.

After the Lakers started 3-5, head coach Darvin Ham moved Reddish into the starting lineup. For a little while, Reddish made an impact thanks to his ball-hawking efforts. The Lakers won 11 of their next 15 games and won the in-season tournament.

Since then, Reddish’s positive impact has evaporated. Yet Ham elected to keep the 24-year-old in the starting lineup for all but one game he has been available to play in.

By now, it is clear he simply doesn’t deserve to be a starter or even play major minutes.

In 23.6 minutes a game this season, Reddish is averaging 6.5 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.2 steals. He’s shooting under 40% from the field and is at just 33.7% from 3-point range. Other than an occasional steal or deflection, he simply doesn’t provide any value at either end of the floor.

With Reddish on the floor, L.A. is minus 2.0 in net rating. With him off the floor, it is minus 1.5.

The team has lost 12 of its last 17 games and is 19-21, which puts it in 11th place in the Western Conference. Clearly, something has to be done to roust a team now in danger of missing the play-in tournament.

D’Angelo Russell will not play in Lakers vs. Heat game

The Lakers will still be beneath full strength when they return home to face the Heat on Wednesday evening.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ injury woes continue this season with seemingly no end in sight. They have had an incessant pattern of one or two players being unable to play for a period of time, only to see additional players go on the injured list afterward.

They have lost eight of their last 11 games, and although they have a home-heavy schedule ahead, they’re not exactly in a position of strength. Los Angeles is just 17-17 and in 10th place in the Western Conference. It is just a half game ahead of the 11th-place Golden State Warriors.

It will face the feisty Miami Heat on Wednesday. In addition to forward Rui Hachimura being out with a calf strain, guard D’Angelo Russell has been ruled out due to a tailbone contusion.

According to Ham, both Hachimura and Russell are day-to-day.

Cam Reddish will not play in Thursday’s Lakers versus Hornets game

The Lakers will be without one of their starters when they play the Hornets on Thursday evening.

The 2023-24 season has seen a revolving door of injuries for the Los Angeles Lakers. It has been a constant string of mostly minor and moderate injuries for them, and it has had somewhat of an impact on their play since they haven’t been able to build lots of cohesion.

In particular, wing depth has been a problem at times. Jarred Vanderbilt and Rui Hachimura have missed a considerable amount of time, and Cam Reddish missed some games in November due to groin soreness.

As the Lakers get set to take on the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday evening, Reddish has been ruled out.

Reddish’s absence will likely mean meaningful minutes for second-year wing Max Christie. He’s averaging 4.3 points in 16.5 minutes a game while shooting 38.7% overall and 30.2% from 3-point range this season.

Lakers will be without three key players against the Spurs on Friday

The Lakers will be short-handed will they face off against the Spurs once again on Friday.

The Los Angeles Lakers ran up a big lead against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday, only to withstand a furious rally that almost cost them the game. They held on to win, 122-119, to improve to 15-10 on the season.

LeBron James was held out of that contest, and perhaps that was one reason the Lakers had an apparent lack of focus and aggression in the final minutes when San Antonio made its run.

James will return to the lineup on Friday when the teams face off again. However, L.A. will be without three starters: Anthony Davis, Cam Reddish and D’Angelo Russell will not play.

This game is the final leg of a three-game road trip for the Lakers. They will have two full days off before their next game, which is a home contest against the New York Knicks on Monday.

Lakers fans will be happy to see L.A.’s latest injury update

There have been some big changes to the Lakers’ injury report ahead of Saturday’s game versus the Rockets.

So far this season, the Los Angeles Lakers have had to deal with one injury after another, sometimes in bunches. While none of those injuries have been particularly serious, they have had affected the team’s performance.

Lately, Cam Reddish and Rui Hachimura have missed multiple games with groin soreness and a nasal fracture, respectively. Backup center Jaxson Hayes didn’t play in Thursday’s loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

In addition, forward Jarred Vanderbilt and guard Gabe Vincent have been out for multiple weeks. Outside of Anthony Davis, Vanderbilt and Vincent may be L.A.’s best defensive players.

But ahead of Saturday’s home contest versus the Houston Rockets, Hayes and Reddish are listed as probable, while Hachimura and even Vanderbilt are noticeably absent from the injury report.

If the Lakers don’t have any new injuries, they should be able to continue building chemistry after last winter’s trades that remade their supporting cast. They’re 11-9, which puts them in seventh place in the Western Conference, but they’re only two games out of third place, which is held by the Thunder.

Cam Reddish is out for Thursday’s Lakers vs. Thunder game

The Lakers’ injury woes this season continue, as key wing Cam Reddish will not play on Thursday versus the Thunder.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ injury situation this season hasn’t been brutal, but it has been frustrating. It seems to be resembling a game of whack-a-mole — a couple of injuries occurring and improving, followed by another one or two new injuries.

First came injuries to defensive standouts Jarred Vanderbilt and Gabe Vincent. Key reserve forward Rui Hachimura has now spent two separate stints on the injured list. Cam Reddish came down with groin soreness last week and missed three games as a result, although he was cleared to play in Wednesday’s win over the Detroit Pistons.

Unfortunately for Los Angeles, Reddish will not play on Thursday when it faces the upstart Oklahoma City Thunder.

Since Reddish moved into the starting lineup nearly three weeks ago, the Lakers have won eight of 11 games, although they lost two of the three games he recently missed.

Cam Reddish will return to the Lakers versus the Pistons

The Lakers are getting a key contributor back for their game on Wednesday against the Pistons.

The Los Angeles Lakers are 10-8 going into Wednesday’s game at the Detroit Pistons, and one reason their record is mediocre is the injuries they have dealt with.

Gabe Vincent, Jarred Vanderbilt, Taurean Prince, Rui Hachimura and Cam Reddish, to name a few, have all missed multiple games already. The absences of Vincent, Vanderbilt and Reddish particularly stand out; they may be the Lakers’ three best perimeter defenders.

The team is coming off a humiliating 44-point loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday in which its defense was truly missing in action.

The good news for Los Angeles is Reddish will return for Wednesday’s game in Michigan.

Reddish was moved into the starting lineup on Nov. 10. From that point until he suffered the groin injury that has kept him out, the Lakers won six of seven games. His defensive anticipation and ability to hit 3-pointers from the corners have been assets to the team, and the former lottery pick may be finding his niche in the NBA.

Cam Reddish upgraded to probable for Wednesday’s Lakers-Pistons game

The Lakers may get a key contributor back for their game against the Pistons on Wednesday.

After winning seven of nine games and looking primed to take a step forward, the Los Angeles Lakers suffered a major setback, a 138-94 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday.

It was one of the most lopsided defeats in Lakers history and the most lopsided loss of LeBron James’ career. The Sixers were as hot as the Sahara from 3-point range, and they massively outplayed L.A. in the rebounding and free throw departments.

The Lakers found themselves short-handed once again on Monday. Cam Reddish, Rui Hachimura, Jarred Vanderbilt and Gabe Vincent missed the game versus Philly.

Reddish could return on Wednesday when they visit the Detroit Pistons; he has been upgraded to probable.

Reddish missed L.A.’s last three games with groin soreness. His promotion to the starting lineup on Nov. 10 seemed to coincide with its turnaround after a 3-5 start.

Since then, the Lakers have greatly improved on the defensive end, and Reddish’s ability to get steals and deflections has been one reason.
