Another 5-star flip! Cam Coleman, one of nation’s top wide receivers, is headed to Auburn

Cam Coleman flips from Texas A&M to Auburn.

Five-star wide receiver Cam Coleman became the second blue-chip recruit in as many days to make a big-time flip. On Friday afternoon, Coleman dropped Texas A&M, picking up SEC rival Auburn in their place.

Coleman had been committed to Texas A&M for nearly five months. In mid-June, he took an official visit to the Aggies, giving his verbal to the program just two weeks later. But now after an unofficial visit to Auburn last weekend for the Iron Bowl, Coleman has given his pledge to Auburn.

It is a big moment for Auburn, especially since the five-star wide receiver is an in-state pick-up and is ranked as the top player in Alabama.

The class of 2024 recruit had an outstanding senior season for Central (Phenix City, Alabama). He had 1,229 receiving yards (on 56 receptions) with 17 touchdowns.

At 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds, he will be a nice downfield target for Auburn as well as someone who can use his size and length to post-up and move the chains.

On Friday it was Coleman making a flip. On Thursday, Justin Scott de-committed from Ohio State and committed to Miami in a bit of a shock move.

The decision by Coleman wasn’t a huge shock and there had been signs earlier this fall that he may not have been all-in on the Aggies. In mid-November, Coleman took an unofficial visit to Florida State as well.

It shouldn’t be a surprise that Coleman defected from College Station, given the recent firing of Jimbo Fisher.

Auburn is now up to No. 11 in the national recruiting rankings with the Friday addition of Coleman according to 247Sports.

2024 Five-star wide receiver Cam Coleman flips commitment to SEC rival

Surprising to some, but not most, 2024 five-star WR Cam Coleman has flipped from Texas A&M to the Auburn Tigers.

Not-too-surprising news: wide receiver Cam Coleman, the No.1-ranked player out of Alabama in the 2024 recruiting class , announced via social media that he’s flipped his commitment from Texas A&M to the Auburn Tigers.

There have been rumblings since the firing of Jimbo Fisher that Coleman would open his recruitment back up with Auburn being in the driver’s seat for the 6-foot 3-inch highlight reel athlete that’s loaded with raw talent.

Losing Coleman drops the Aggies’ On3 ranking from 10th to 17th a few weeks before early signing day. Coleman spoke to On3 about how his relationship with the Auburn staff helps with his decision to switch to Auburn:

“My relationship with coach Davis, coach Freeze, and really the way I feel at home everytime I step foot on the plains….I’m close to Coach Davis, Coach Reed, and Coach Freeze. They all check up on me everyday to see how I’m doing and they plan on using me as a big body receiver, make big blocks and I’ll just do anything I need to.”

For new Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko, this is a considerable blow, and makes keeping incoming junior wide receiver Evan Stewart even more vital, while attempting to add another WR prospect through the transfer portal is also an absolute must.

Social media erupts after Auburn lands 5-star WR Cam Coleman

Auburn’s fan base is pretty happy after landing five-star wide receiver Cam Coleman.

[autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and Co. gave the Auburn fanbase plenty to celebrate Friday when they landed five-star wide receiver [autotag]Cam Coleman[/autotag].

The Central-Phenix City product had been committed to Texas A&M since July 4 but visited Auburn several times during the season and when the Aggies moved on from head coach Jimbo Fisher, the Tigers surged ahead.

He is Auburn’s second five-star commit of the cycle, joining fellow wide receiver Perry Thompson as the headliners of Auburn’s 2024 recruiting class.

The Auburn faithful took to social media to celebrate the massive move, here is a look at some of the top reactions from coaches, fans, commits and even current players.

Auburn flips five-star WR Cam Coleman from Texas A&M

Auburn has not one but TWO five-star wide recievers committed in Cam Coleman and Perry Thompson.

[autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and [autotag]Marcus Davis[/autotag] have done it again.

The Tigers have pulled off several impressive flips under Freeze but they pulled off their biggest one yet on Friday, landing five-star wide receiver [autotag]Cam Coleman[/autotag], who had been committed to Texas A&M since July 4.

It was far from an easy process for Auburn to land Coleman, they looked like the favorite to land the Central-Phenix City product over the summer but he shockingly committed to [autotag]Jimbo Fisher[/autotag] and the Aggies. They never stopped pursuing him though and when Fisher was fired they capitalized.

Coleman is the No. 7 overall player and No. 3 wide receiver in the 247Sports composite ranking. He is the No. 1 player from Alabama.

He is set to become Auburn’s third-highest-rated signee in program history, trailing only Byron Cowart and Derrick Brown, making him the highest-rated offensive player in Auburn history.

He is Auburn’s 19th commit and fourth at wide receiver, joining fellow five-star [autotag]Perry Thompson[/autotag] and four-star products [autotag]Bryce Cain[/autotag] and [autotag]Malcolm Simmons[/autotag], all of whom are from Alabama.

Social media reacts: 5-star Texas A&M commit shares video rocking Clemson gear

A Texas A&M five-star wide receiver commit recently shared a video of him in Clemson gear.

It is important to note that this could mean nothing, but that also doesn’t mean it isn’t interesting and intriguing.

Dabo Swinney and the Tigers heavily recruited five-star wide receiver Cameron Coleman and missed out on the top recruit when he announced his commitment to Texas A&M. Even with Coleman committed, it doesn’t mean he’s fully locked into play for the Aggies.

There have been a lot of rumors swirling around Auburn possibly flipping Coleman’s commitment with all that’s gone on with A&M. While Clemson hasn’t been involved in rumors of flipping Coleman’s commitment, the wide receiver recruit recently shared a video on Instagram that is pretty damn interesting.

Sharing on his Instagram story, Coleman was rocking Clemson gear at practice recently. Again, this could mean nothing, but it definitely got people talking.

Here is a look at how Twitter/X reacted to Coleman wearing Clemson sleeves and gloves to practice.

Auburn extends offer to Central-Phenix City WR Dylan Gentry

He is the third wide receiver from Central-Phenix City that Auburn has offered, joing Cam Coleman and 2025 prospect Dylan Upshaw.

The early signing period is rapidly approaching for the 2024 recruiting class but Auburn’s coaches are still extending offers.

On Tuesday the Tigers issued a preferred walk-on offer to [autotag]Dyaln Gentry[/autotag], who plays wide receiver for Central-Phenix City in nearby Phenix City, Alabama.

Gentry is the third Red Devil wide receiver that [autotag]Marcus Harris[/autotag] and Auburn have offered. They are heavily pursuing five-star [autotag]Cam Coleman[/autotag] and 2025 prospect [autotag]Dylan Upshaw[/autotag].

Measuring in at 5-foot-9 and 155 pounds, Gentry projects as a slot receiver at the next level. He has caught 27 passes for 504 yards and 7 touchdowns during his senior season.

Paul Finebaum is optimistic about Auburn’s future under Hugh Freeze

It was a brutal loss but Paul Finebaum likes where Auburn is headed under Hugh Freeze after the Iron Bowl.

Auburn was unable to win the Iron Bowl, falling 27-24 to Alabama in heartbreaking fashion, but Paul Finebaum is optimistic about what [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] is building on the Plains.

He joined the “McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning,” show with Greg McElroy and Cole Cubelic Monday morning to discuss the Iron Bowl and Auburn’s future.

“I feel great about the future under Hugh Freeze,” Finebaum said. “New Mexico State game didn’t phase me, as you all know because we talked about it privately. I just felt like it was just something that happens in the first year, and I think talking to Hugh on Friday afternoon, he was embarrassed by it, but he also knew not to dwell on it.”

Finebaum admitted that Auburn did not play a perfect game and made several big mistakes, but he thinks that the program is trending in the right direction and that the rebuild could be a short one.

“It felt like Auburn’s program had advanced and I know what they’re doing in recruiting, and I also know people on the on the other side of the state (that) are concerned because Auburn really has things rolling right now under Hugh Freeze. And I think the road back is going to be a lot faster than maybe some of the skeptics predicted a year ago.”

While this Iron Bowl had a similar ending to the last one inside Jordan-Hare Stadium, the recruiting is what has filled many with hope that Freeze will be able to turn the program around.

The Tigers currently have the No. 17 ranked class in the 2024 cycle according to 247Sports. The group is headlined by five-star wide receiver [autotag]Perry Thompson[/autotag] and they are in the mix for several other elite prospects, including five-star wideout [autotag]Cam Coleman[/autotag].

Insider predicts Texas A&M 2024 WR commit Cam Coleman will flip to fellow SEC program

Post-Jimbo Fisher’s firing, one recruiting insider has predicted that 2024 5-Star WR Cam Coleman will Flip to the Auburn Tigers.

Well, recruiting news was expected after the firing of Jimbo Fisher as Texas A&M‘s head football coach. The move will cause a shift in any recruiting momentum until his successor is named.

Interim head coach Elijah Robinson, a man beloved by the team, coaching staff and nearly every prospect he has come in contact with, has seamlessly taken over the position with two games remaining, including Saturday’s season-finale road battle with the 14th-ranked LSU Tigers.

So, going back to the Aggies’ current recruiting landscape, a host of 2024 commits have stated they may look at other options but remain committed to the program as of now. However, since Fisher’s dismissal, A&M’s prized 2024 commit, five-star wide receiver Cam Coleman, has been quiet.

According to Florida State insider Michael Langston, Coleman is predicted to flip to Auburn, the program he had been connected to for most of the summer before his July 4 announcement.

What’s interesting was the timing of this prediction. It came just hours after Auburn, under first-year head coach, hosted New Mexico State in the annual “cupcake matchup.” Instead, the Aggies (9-3) dominated the Tigers up and down the field, winning 31-10 while raking in millions in the process.

Look, Coleman’s relationship with Fisher, as with many of the 2024 recruits, looms large in their decision process moving forward. Until Fisher’s successor is named in possibly the next two weeks, Coleman’s future in the Aggieland, like it or not, is up in the air.

Predictions pour in for Auburn to flip 5-star WR Cam Coleman

Auburn is looking to land a third five-star prospect and second at wide receiver.

Five-star wide receiver [autotag]Cam Coleman[/autotag] was one of Auburn’s top targets in the 2024 recruiting cycle before he surprisingly committed to the Texas A&M Aggies back in July.

[autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and wide receivers coach [autotag]Marcus Davis[/autotag] never stopped recruiting him though and after the Aggies fired Jimbo Fisher, Auburn is in a great place to flip the Phenix City product.

Coleman has visited Auburn multiple times during the season and is set to return to the Plains for Auburn’s game against New Mexico State and return next week for the Iron Bowl.

With Auburn only increasing its recruitment of Coleman, predictions have poured in for him to flip his commitment to Auburn, Bud Elliot of 247Sports got things started on Friday by logging a crystal ball prediction in Auburn’s favor. On Saturday his colleagues at 247Sports, Christian Clemente, Bryce Koon and Steve Witfong all joined him.

Michael Langston, who covers Florida State recruiting for On3, also put in a prediction for Auburn to land Coleman. The Seminoles were believed to be Auburn’s top competition for the five-star wide receiver.

Auburn is looking to add Coleman to an already impressive wide receiver class, headlined by fellow five-star [autotag]Perry Thompson[/autotag]. They also have commitments from four-star [autotag]Bryce Cain[/autotag] and four-star [autotag]Malcolm Simmons[/autotag].

Coleman is the No. 8 overall player and No. 3 wide receiver in the 247Sports composite ranking. He is also the No. 1 player from Alabama. If Auburn were to sign him, he would become the third highest-rated signee in program history, behind Derrick Brown and Byron Cowart.

Auburn becomes front runner to flip Alabama’s top 2024 prospect

Texas A&M’s firing of Jimbo Fisher could become a win for Hugh Freeze and the Auburn Tigers.

[autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and the Auburn Tigers flipped four-star EDGE Jamonta Waller from Florida following Saturday’s massive win over Arkansas. It appears as if they have a chance to flip another high-profile 2024 prospect ahead of the early signing period that begins on Dec. 20.

Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher was fired on Sunday after posting a 45-25 record in six seasons. Auburn now has a chance to reap the reward of the dismissal as five-star wide receiver [autotag]Cam Coleman[/autotag] revealed that his commitment is “still open” despite remaining committed to Texas A&M.

Coleman, a five-star wide receiver from nearby Phenix City, was expected to commit to Auburn before ultimately choosing Fisher and the Aggies on July 4. Based on recent events, Auburn now has a 93.4% chance to flip his pledge before signing day.

Auburn has remained heavily involved in recruiting Coleman, and Coleman remains interested in the Tigers. He visited the Plains as recently as Oct. 21 for Auburn’s game against Ole Miss at Jordan-Hare Stadium. The only school outside of Texas A&M that Auburn needs to worry about is Florida State. The Seminoles hosted Coleman last weekend for the Miami game, and he was quoted as saying “I like it here” in an interview with On3’s Matt LaSerre.
