Alabama loses five-star wide receiver commit to fellow SEC program

Alabama lost one of their top 2025 commitments Wednesday afternoon.

After taking a visit to Oxford on Saturday, five-star Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver commit Caleb Cunningham officially flipped his commitment to the Ole Miss Rebels on Wednesday afternoon.

Cunningham, who was one of the highest-rated recruits in Alabama’s 2025 class, had previously been committed to the Crimson Tide since July of 2024.

As mentioned previously, Cunningham is a five-star prospect in the 2025 class, and is ranked as the nation’s No. 16 overall player in the cycle according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Cunningham is also ranked as the nation’s No. 2 overall wide receiver, as well as the top player in the state of Mississippi where he attends Choctaw County High School.

With the decommitment of Cunningham, Alabama’s 2025 class now sits at No. 2 nationally with 22 total commitments, only one of which is a wide receiver. That is Lotzeir Brooks, a four-star prospect.

The decommitment of Cunningham also means that Alabama now has a total of four five-star prospects still committed this cycle.

LSU to host 5-star Alabama commit as Ole Miss comes to town

LSU is set to host a big time receiving prospect this weekend.

LSU is set for a big recruiting weekend as No. 9 Ole Miss comes to town. A notable name on the visitors list is five-star Alabama commit Caleb Cunningham.

The new was reported by On3’s Chad Simmons on Friday morning.

According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Cunningham is the No. 2 ranked receiver in the 2025 class and No. 16 overall prospect. A Mississippi native, Cunningham committed to Alabama in July.

Despite the Bama pledge, LSU remains involved in his recruitment. Cunningham told On3 that he’s still 100% with Alabama, but LSU “is trying to make their way back in this thing.”

It’s a long shot, but Cunningham would be a major flip for an already-loaded LSU recruiting class. The Tigers already have three five-stars on board, including five-star QB [autotag]Bryce Underwood[/autotag].

LSU has been involved with multiple five-star receivers this cycle but is yet to add an industry five-star to the group. LSU’s top-ranked receiving commit is four-star [autotag]Derek Meadows[/autotag], who ranks 52nd overall in the On3 Industry Rankings.

Overall, LSU’s 2025 class ranks fourth nationally and has 26 commits. The class is close to being finalized, but there are always a few surprises when the season ends and national signing day rolls around. LSU will have a chance to impress some big-time recruits with official visits during SEC play.

Five-star receiver Caleb Cunningham to visit Auburn this weekend

The 6-1, 190-pound receiver took three visits to Auburn before committing to Alabama in July.

2025 five-star receiver recruit and current Alabama Crimson Tide commit [autotag]Caleb Cunningham[/autotag] is scheduled to visit the Plains this weekend according to a report from Auburn Live.

The consensus top 25 recruit and top receiver from Mississippi committed to Alabama back in July of this year, but showed heavy interest in Auburn before making his decision a few months ago.

The 6-1, 190-pound receiver has taken three trips down to the Loveliest Village on the Plains during his recruitment process, most recently speaking with [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and the Auburn staff in person on May 31 of this year. While the No. 3 receiver in his class hasn’t shown any indication of flipping his commitment, he did make it a point to tell On3 that “he would be in Auburn this weekend” for the Tigers SEC opener against Arkansas.

It’s also worth noting that Cunningham’s current commitment choice, Alabama, is off on a bye week this weekend. The Crimson Tide do host No. 1 ranked Georgia on September 28, and the prized recruit is likely to be back in Tuscaloosa for that matchup, although he has not confirmed it.

Auburn currently holds a consensus top 5 recruiting class for this upcoming campaign. That ranking could increase drastically if the Tigers staff is somehow able to pull a rabbit out of the hat and convince Cunningham to flip his commitment this weekend.

Newly named starting quarterback [autotag]Hank Brown[/autotag] and the Tigers open up SEC play on Saturday against Arkansas at 2:30 PM CT from Jordan-Hare Stadium. A win to open the conference section of the schedule would not only help this season but could help some recruits on the edge commit to Hugh Freeze’s plan for the Tigers down the road.

Caleb Cunningham will not be visiting Auburn for Big Cat Weekend

Speculation about Cunningham flipping to Auburn has seemingly come to an end after he dispelled the rumors.

Five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham announced he will not be visiting the Plains for ‘Big Cat Weekend’ at the end of July. The No. 3 pass catcher in the 2025 class posted his intentions on Twitter/X on Tuesday afternoon.

Cunningham committed to cross state Rival Alabama earlier this month, but speculation surrounding the Ackerman, Mississippi native flipping to Auburn began to rise this week after multiple reports surfaced saying the Tigers expected him on campus for their biggest recruiting event of the summer. That speculation has now seemingly been put to rest after Cunningham himself dispelled the rumors.

If Hugh Freeze and company are able to somehow flip the No. 1 recruit from Mississippi, they’d add another elite receiver to an already extremely dynamic and young group of pass catchers. The 6-1, 190 pound Cunningham is coming off a junior season in which he hauled in 48 receptions for 1,138 yards and 14 touchdowns.

For now, it looks like the uber-productive high school standout is destined to become a member of the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Alabama lands 5-star WR Caleb Cunningham

Alabama snags another 5-star recruit in Caleb Cunningham from Mississippi

Kalen DeBoer is continuing the tradition of Alabama coaches who have come before him. The first-year coach added 5-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham to his Class of 2025.

DeBoer has been busy on the recruiting trail. Cunningham is his 13th signee since June 1. Overall, the 6-foot-3, 190-pound Cunningham became Alabama’s 21st commitment in the 2025 class.

So, what made the wideout so appealing to Alabama?

As a junior in the fall at Choctaw County High School (Miss.), he set school records with 48 catches from 1,138 yards and 14 touchdowns. Cunningham competes in track and field as well, and was named the All-Area High School Basketball Player of the Year as a junior.

247Sports explained his gifts:

Unstoppable in red-zone situations. Strong-handed in traffic. Runs hard in run-after-catch situations and bowls his way through arm tackles. Long-striding gait that creates necessity for build-up speed. Natural route sense and spatial awareness. Question the top-end athlete from speed and lateral perspectives relative to others in the class, though athletic profile is admittedly excellent with the hoops context. Projects as a high-major impact player with a long-term ceiling that could lead to NFL Draft consideration.

Cunningham had plenty of top-tier programs vying for his services in the years ahead, including SEC powers Florida, Tennessee, and Auburn.

2025 5-star WR Caleb Cunningham announces commitment to Alabama

Kalen DeBoer continues to DOMINATE to recruiting trail!

The Alabama Crimson Tide football program just added a commitment to its 2025 recruiting class. On Saturday, 2025 five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham announced his commitment to Alabama over other programs like Auburn Tigers, Florida Gators, Ole Miss, and Tennessee Volunteers.

Cunningham is the second wide receiver to commit to the Crimson Tide as a part of the 2025 recruiting class. He joins fellow Alabama commit Lotzeir Brooks.

Cunningham hails from Ackerman, Mississippi and plays for Choctaw County High School. He is listed at 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds. During his junior season, Cunningham reeled in 48 catches for 1,138 yards and 14 touchdowns.

In addition to starring on the football field, Cunningham also competes on his school’s basketball team. As a junior, Cunningham was named the Starkville Daily News All-Area High School Basketball Player of the Year.

Alabama’s 2025 recruiting class is starting to fill up and Cunningham’s commitment is a big one for the Crimson Tide. Alabama wide receivers coach JaMarcus Shepherd lands one of the nation’s top playmakers in Cunningham.

Class of 2026 QB commit Will Griffin recruiting receivers to UF

Quarterbacks are often the first to commit in a recruiting class, which leads to some peer recruiting over the summer and high school seasons.

Committing a year early isn’t too common in college football these days, but it usually means a player is willing to be the face of a recruiting class. That’s the role Jesuit (Tampa) quarterback [autotag]Will Griffin[/autotag] will play for Florida’s class of 2026, according to Gators Online.

“I recruit all the time,” Griffin said at the Future 50 Media Day. “That was another big thing when I committed early. I knew the responsibility I had of recruiting my class and the 2025 class. I’m pitching in here and there with the class above me, but why not? Those will be guys I will be playing with too.”

Like any good quarterback, Griffin’s primary focus is bringing in guys that can catch the ball. Griffin is in touch with some of Florida’s top targets, including class of 2025 five-stars [autotag]Vernell Brown III[/autotag] and [autotag]Caleb Cunningham[/autotag].

Recruiting Summary

Griffin is one of the top quarterbacks in the class of 2026. He is ranked No. 117 overall and No. 11 at his position, according to the On3 industry ranking. The 247Sports composite has him slightly higher at Nos. 102 and 9, respectively.

After fielding offers from several Power Four programs, Griffin picked Florida — the program he’s loved his whole life — on June 1. Florida was equally high on Griffin. Several reports name him as the Gators’ top quarterback target in the class.

He’s already spent time shadowing freshman DJ Lagway and learning at OTAs. His next visit should come at the end of the month for the Grill in the ‘Ville cookout, and then he’ll be back for the season opener against Miami.

Auburn makes top-six for five-star WR Caleb Cunningham

Cunningham once considered Auburn his top choice. Will the Tigers be the last program standing when he announces his commitment later this summer?

Auburn hosted five-star wide receiver [autotag]Caleb Cunningham[/autotag] for a visit earlier this month, and now the Tigers find themselves within his top programs.

Cunningham, a 2025 wide receiver from Ackerman, Mississippi, announced his top-six schools on Tuesday. Alongside Auburn, Cunningham is also considering Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State.

After dropping his top schools, Cunningham told On3’s Chad Simmons that each school has a unique perk and that he could see himself playing at each program.

“Then all six schools are a little different. Each has something different that I like, too,” Cunningham said. “I have visited all six multiple times, I love the energy at each school and I know I can get along with the coaches and fit into each offense. That is why I am focused on Alabama, Auburn, State, Ole Miss, Florida and Tennessee.”

Following his visit to Auburn in early June, Cunningham shared with Grace Raynor of The Athletic that Auburn was his top school due to the culture and the team that [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] is building.

However, his tune has changed recently.

On3 is reporting that Alabama is now the program to beat for Cunningham. Cunningham took his last official visit of the summer to Tuscaloosa, and was blown away by the new staff says recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong. On3 also reports that Cunningham could make a decision regarding his college choice by the end of the summer.

It is not out of the realm of possibility for Cunningham to change course and commit to Auburn. However, if Cunningham plans to commit before the season begins, Auburn will need to continue making great strides in order to sway his mind.

Cunningham’s top six schools are Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Mississippi State and Ole Miss.

“These six schools have made me feel at home and I feel comfortable when I am there,” Cunningham told On3. “All six schools have things I like, like the coaches, the environment and the people. I like the offenses they run, too.”

Cunningham officially visited Tennessee on June 14.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound wide receiver is from Choctaw County High School in Ackerman, Mississippi.

Cunningham is the No. 13 overall prospect in the class of 2025. He ranks as the No. 2 wide receiver and No. 1 player in Mississippi, according to 247Sports.
