Colorado’s Cale Makar scored the NHL’s filthiest ankle-twisting overtime game-winner

This is sick.

Cale Makar, as we all know, is a superstar for the Colorado Avalanche, a defenseman who’s notched 44 points or more in each of his first two seasons. This year? Fourteen goals and 28 points in just 25 games.

And No. 14 was unreal, the equivalent of an ankle-breaker in the NBA where a speedy guard changes directions so crisply that the defender falls.

This happened on Tuesday night in a 3-3 game against the Chicago Blackhawks, with three players on the ice each. Makar took the puck around the net, stopped on a dime in the corner, which sent his defender into a stumble. Then? A deke and the game-winner.

SICK. Is it it the goal of the year? I still have the Connor McDavid goal from earlier in the season as tops, but this one’s close.
