Wisconsin football loses a 2025 running back target to BYU

Wisconsin class of 2025 running back target Cale Breslin committed to BYU on Friday.

The three-star recruit chose the Cougars over his other finalists: Wisconsin, San Diego State, Indiana, Syracuse, Connecticut, Hawaii, FAU and Campbell.

Breslin is 247Sports’ No. 83 running back in the class and No. 10 recruit from his home state of Nevada. He has yet to receive a composite ranking.

Wisconsin enters the 2024 season with 10 running backs on the roster. Chez Mellusi and Oklahoma transfer Tawee Walker lead the room, with younger depth including Cade Yacamelli, Jackson Acker, Nate White, Gideon Ituka, Dilin Jones and Darrion Dupree also present.

The program’s class of 2025 is yet to land a running back. The group currently ranks No. 18 in the nation with 10 players committed.

Wisconsin class of 2025 RB target to announce commitment Friday

Three-star class of 2025 running back Cale Breslin will announce his collegiate commitment at 1:00 p.m. central on Friday, May 10.

The Las Vegas, Nevada native has received offers from nine schools, per 247Sports. Wisconsin, which extended an offer to Breslin on April 23, is a finalist to land his commitment along with San Diego State, BYU, Indiana, Syracuse, Connecticut, Hawaii, FAU and Campbell.

247Sports ranks the three-star as the No. 115 running back in the class of 2025 and No. 14 overall recruit from Nevada. At 5’11,” 190 pounds, Breslin is a junior at Faith Lutheran High School.

His offers first arrived in October of 2022, before his recruitment cooled off until March 2024 when Syracuse, Indiana, BYU, Wisconsin and San Diego State all officially reached out towards the beginning of the calendar year.

Breslin unofficially visited UW from April 22-23 and received an offer thereafter. 247Sports does have two crystal ball predictions for the running back to choose BYU.

Breslin is scheduled to officially visit UW from June 14-16.

Wisconsin offers three-star class of 2025 running back from Nevada

The Wisconsin Badgers offered class of 2025 three-star running back Cale Breslin on Tuesday. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound athlete is a junior at Faith Lutheran High School in Las Vegas, Nevada and has one more year before making the leap to the college level.

Breslin was extended the offer after being in attendance for the Badgers’ 11th practice of their spring session on Tuesday. The running back has now picked up eight Division 1 offers, including from Wisconsin and Indiana within the Big Ten.

Wisconsin will welcome Breslin back to campus June 14-16 for an official visit as he weighs his collegiate options

The Badgers have three incoming freshmen at running back in 2024 — four-star Dilin Jones (Olney, MD) and three-stars Darrion Dupree (Chicago, IL) and Gideon Ituka (Gaithersburg, MD). Wisconsin has yet to receive a commitment from a running back for their class of 2025.
