UNC basketball picks up crystal ball prediction for transfer portal target

While on his visit, the UNC basketball program picked up a crystal ball prediction for Cade Tyson.

The North Carolina Tar Heels’ basketball program is hosting a big transfer portal target on campus this weekend as Belmont’s Cade Tyson is in Chapel Hill. It’s the first visit for UNC in terms of prospects in the transfer portal and the hope is that they can eventually land Tyson.

On Friday, they picked up a crystal ball prediction for Tyson in his recruitment which is great news.

National recruiting analyst Travis Branham of 247Sports logged a crystal ball for the Tar Heels in Tyson’s recruitment, the lone prediction so far. The prediction came in the afternoon which is a great sign moving forward.

Tyson was one of the first players North Carolina was connected to this offseason as he decided to leave Belmont.

The wing put together a breakout season for Belmont in 2023-24, averaging 16.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game while shooting 46.5 percent from the three-point line. That came a year after  he averaged 13.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game while shooting 47 percent from the three-point line.

With a need on the wing for some shooting, landing Tyson would be huge for the Tar Heels no matter the role he will eventually have either off the bench or as a potential starter.

Duke reportedly in contact with Belmont transfer Cade Tyson

Duke has reportedly contacted former Belmont Bruin Cade Tyson, a sophomore who scored 16.2 points per game and shot 46% from three last season, in the transfer portal.

With a handful of Blue Devils expected to leave for either new teams or the NBA (and center Christian Reeves already gone), Duke head coach Jon Scheyer will need to dip into the transfer portal. According to some reports, he’s already on the trail.

According to basketball coach Nick Jones, the Blue Devils have been in contact with Belmont transfer Cade Tyson.

Tyson, a 6-foot-7 sophomore, averaged 16.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game for the Bruins last season. He was remarkably efficient, shooting 49.3% from the floor and 46.5% from beyond the arc, and he’s finished above 40% from 3-point range in both of his collegiate seasons.

Tyson is 74th on EvanMiya’s transfer portal player rankings, but he’s 15th among transfers in the site’s Offensive Bayesian Performance Rating metric. EvanMiya grades him as a four-star transfer prospect.

Tyson has apparently also been approached by Kentucky, North Carolina, and Tennessee, so Scheyer will have some competition if he wants him in Durham.

With the college basketball season nearing an end, it was a big odd for the transfer portal to open but Notre Dame is trying to take advantage of its time off.

The Irish have reached out to Belmont sophomore guard [autotag]Cade Tyson[/autotag] according to a report from Nick Jones. The 6-foot, 7-inch and 205-pound wing had an exceptional season, as he scored 16.2 points-per-game along with grabbing 5.9 rebounds-per-game and 1.6 assists.

Tyson shot 49.3% from the field while hitting 46.5% of his three-point attempts. Numerous schools have also reached out to the transfer, so it won’t be easy for the Irish to land him.

If we hear more about a potential visit, then the Irish have turned up the heat on Tyson’s re-recruitment.

The college men’s basketball transfer portal is heating up and Wisconsin’s coaching staff have gotten in contact with Belmont standout guard Cade Tyson after he entered the portal Monday.

The 6-foot-7 athlete just wrapped up an impressive sophomore campaign with the Bruins, producing 16.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game while shooting 49.3 percent from the field. Additionally, he averaged 2.6 three-pointers per contest while making 46.5 percent of his shots from deep.

With AJ Storr potentially moving on to the NBA and Tyler Wahl moving on after his fifth and final season in Madison, Tyson could provide Greg Gard’s Badgers with some much-needed help at the wing position.

Report: Ducks targeting Belmont SF Cade Tyson in transfer portal

The Oregon Ducks have reportedly reached out to former Belmont small forward Cade Tyson in the transfer portal.

Dana Altman and the Oregon Ducks are turning toward the offseason now that their magical March Madness run came to an end on Saturday night, and there are a few players who they are starting to look at in the transfer portal.

One of those players, according to Relentless Hoops’ Trent Markwith, is former Belmont small forward Cade Tyson, a 6-foot-7 player who is rated by 247Sports as the 11th-best available player in the transfer portal this offseason.

Tyson is going to be a junior in 2024-25, having spent two years at Belmont where he started 59 of his 61 career games, averaging 30 minutes per game. On the floor, Tyson put up an average of 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 assist, while shooting 46.5% from beyond the arc.

That last number is what makes Tyson such an intriguing player for the Ducks to go after, with their three-point shooting needing to improve going forward. We will see if Oregon is able to get him to Eugene on a visit this spring and potentially add him to the roster.
