Aggie fans packed Reed Arena filling 12,989 seats and had it rocking from start to finish. It was so loud at points in the game that it was hard to even hear here the official’s whistles.

The Aggies took the win over the Vols in a nail-biter that ended in a 68-63 victory, led by Wade Taylor and Julius Marble who up a combined 46 points. Wade’s 26 points will put him in line to take home another SEC player of the week award.

Buzz Williams’ Post Game Press Conference after Texas A&M defeats Tennessee 68-63

See what Head coach Buzz Williams had to say after Texas A&M’s huge 68-63 home victory over the 11th-ranked Tennesee Volunteers.

The 25th-ranked Texas A&M Aggies (21-7, 13-2 SEC) are by far one of the hottest teams in the college basketball landscape since the start of SEC play, going 15-2 since Christmas and winning their sixth straight game after defeating the 11th-ranked Tennessee Volunteers 68-63 on Tuesday night.

Inside an absolutely packed Reed Arena with over 12,989 in attendance, The Aggies went toe to toe with one of the best defenses in the country, holding the Volunteers to 29% from 3-point territory with some of the best perimeter defense they’ve played all season while notching 9 steals forcing 16 turnovers on the night.

Led by the heroics of sophomore guard Wade Taylor IV, who scored a game-high 25 points, while going for a career-high 16-17 from the free throw line, junior forward Julius Marble also had one of his best games of the season, recording 21 points and 9 rebounds, and setting his own career high from the free throw line 9-13 from the stripe. As a team, the Aggies shot 39% from the field, and 26% from three, but went a combined 28-34 from the throw line, accounting for 41% of their offense on the night.

With the win, Texas A&M has won their 13th SEC game and are now just half a game out from a first-place finish in the conference, while also earning their 6th Quad victory after defeating Tennessee, making them a lock for the NCAA Tournament from here on out.

After the game, Head coach Buzz Williams spoke to the media to discuss the win, and the incredible atmosphere Reed Arena provided on such an important night for the program. Here’s what he had to say on the night.

Hear what Head coach Buzz Williams had to say ahead of Texas A&M’s huge Tuesday night home matchup vs. the 11th-ranked Tennesee Volunteers

The 25th-ranked Texas A&M Aggies (20-7, 12-2 SEC) are just one sleep away from their biggest matchup of the season thus far, as the 11th-ranked Tennesee Volunteers (20-7, 9-5 SEC) visit Reed Arena on Tuesday night in the battle for seeding in the SEC, and NCAA Tournament next month.

After going 2-0 last week with victories over Arkansas (62-56) and Missouri (69-60), sophomore guard Wade Taylor IV, who averaged 19.5 ppg between both contests, was named SEC Player of the Week, while the Aggies received their No. 25 ranking in both the AP and USA TODAY polls on Monday as well. Sitting second in the SEC with a three-game lead on both Kentucky and Tennesee, chasing the 13-1 Alabama Crimson Tide for their first conference title since sharing the achievement with Kentucky during the 2015-16 season.

Head coach Buzz Williams continued his normal pre-game routine with his weekly press conference a day ahead of the game to discuss the Top 25 showdown vs. Tennessee, among other topics. Here’s what Buzz had to say.

Texas A&M Post Game Press Conference after Aggies defeat Arkansas 62-56

See what Head coach Buzz Williams and Wade Taylor IV had to say after Texas A&M defeated Arkansas 62-56 in a heated rematch

Texas A&M (19-7, 11-2 SEC) played one of their worst offensive games of the season on Wednesday night, shooting only 35% from the field, but due to their hellacious defensive effort to hold Arkansas to just 56 points on the night, the Aggies defeated the Razorbacks in the rematch 62-56 in front of 11,315 fans inside Reed Arena.

Wade Taylor IV led the game in points with 18, hitting 3-5 from 3-point range, while Dexter Dennis (14 points, 2-3 from 3-point) and Tyrece Radford (12 points, 4-5 FT) provided enough offensive production, including 18-22 from the free throw line to keep the Razorbacks at bay for their fourth straight win in SEC play.

Even at 11-2 in the conference with a firm grip on second place in the SEC standings, Texas A&M isn’t receiving an ounce of praise from multiple “bracket experts” with many still believing the Aggies have more work to do in order to solidify a spot in the NCAA Tournament. Nonetheless, this group just keeps on winning, knowing that their recent actions on the court speak much louder than their early season performances.

After the game, Head coach Buzz Williams and star guard Wade Taylor IV spoke to the local media to discuss the win, and look toward their last five games in the regular season. Here is what both had to say on the night.

Buzz Williams’ Pre Game Press Conference ahead of Texas A&M vs. Arkansas

Hear what Head coach Buzz Williams had to say before Texas A&M’s home rematch vs. the Arkansas Razorbacks on Wednesday night.

Texas A&M (18-7, 10-2 SEC) is preparing to take on the visiting Arkansas Razorbacks on Wednesday night in a rematch from their first meeting on Jan. 31st, where the Aggies fell 81-70 in frustrating fashion. Winners of their last three games, Head coach Buzz Williams has his team or their best shape both mentally and physically to take on the final stretch of the regular season, their toughest portion of the schedule all season.

Coming off of their 12-point 74-62 victory over the LSU Tigers on the road last Saturday, sophomore guard Wade Taylor IV scored a game-high 23 points going 5-8 from 3-point land, followed by 13 points from guard Dexter Dennis, who went 3-5 from deep as both players hit all 8 three-pointers on the night.

The Razorbacks are three days removed from their 70-64 home loss against Mississippi State, falling to 6-6 in the SEC, needing to most likely go .500 or better in the conference in order to reach the NCAA Tournament.

Before the game, Head coach Buzz Williams spoke to the local media to preview the matchup, while giving a brief glimpse ahead into the latter half of the regular season heading into March. Here is what he had to say.

Head coach Buzz Williams reflects on the Aggies 74-62 win against LSU

On the latest episode of the “Buzz Williams Radio Show,” Williams reflects on the Aggie’s 74-62 win over LSU on Saturday night

Texas A&M (18-7, 10-2 SEC) has sent a clear message to the college basketball world since the start of SEC play, reaching 10-2 in the conference after defeating LSU 74-62 on Saturday night, sitting comfortably in second place behind the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide. Even with the program’s recent success, the “Bracketology” community is split on their belief in the Aggies as a Tournament team this season, even after being ranked 25th in the newest USA TODAY Coaches poll on Monday afternoon.

In a collective team effort, the Aggies were once again led by the team’s leading scorer Wade Taylor IV, who netted 23 points and 4 assists against the Tigers, including a 5-8 line from 3-point territory. Witchita State transfer Dexter Dennis scored 13 points on 3-5 from deep, while Tyrece “Boots” Radford provided 12 points and 8-12 from the free throw line, helping seal the game in the final seconds at the charity stripe.

Without his normal after-game press conference, Head coach Buzz Williams made his normal appearance on “The Buzz Williams Show,” to reflect on the win against the Tigers on Saturday night, plus how the team is preparing to take on Arkansas in a home rematch with plenty of postseason ramifications on the line. Here is what Coach had to say during his interview with “Voice of the Texas A&M Aggies” Andrew Monaco.

Aggies finish MBI out strong, defeat Loyola Chicago 67-51

Aggies finish MBI out strong, defeat Loyola Chicago 67-51

Well, life comes at you fast in college basketball, and for Texas A&M, their stay in the AP Top 25 lasted for about a day, after falling to Murray State 88-79 in the quarterfinals of the Myrtle Beach Invitational, then falling off a second butt-kicking in the consolation round against Colorado 103-75, things went downhill very quickly.

On Sunday afternoon, the Aggies had one more chance to get a win to get things back on track facing Loyola Chicago for 7th place in the tournament, and man did they deliver. In what was a 67-51 romp, the Aggies led by 11 points at the half, while getting back to their usual defensive form, notching 16 steals, and increasing the lead to 21 at one point in the second half.

Head coach Buzz Williams changed up his starting lineup, while forward Henry Coleman III came off the bench for the first time this season scoring 13 points and 5 rebounds, combined with fellow forward Julius Marble, who was the second leading scorer on the day with 11 points and 5 rebounds, as the inside game found it’s rhythm early and often.

One stat to note was Texas A&M’s poor 3-point shooting, going 4-17 as a team, while guard Wade Talyor IV, who had 10 points on the day, went 0-4, and went 2-16 from 3-point land during the entire tournament. In order to match up with some of the higher-scoring teams in the SEC down the line, this stat will have to drastically improve.

The 3-2 Aggies will return to action on Friday as they remain on the road traveling to Chicago to face 3-2 Depaul at 12:00 PM CT., and the game will be aired on FS1.

Texas A&M Basketball is ranked #24 in the newest AP Top 25 poll

Texas A&M Basketball is ranked #24 in the newest AP Top 25 poll

The 2022 Texas A&M Basketball team has finally achieved a goal that has been hindering them since head coach Buzz Williams began his rebuild nearly four seasons ago, being ranking in the AP Top 25 for the first time under Williams who is now in his fourth season with the program.

So far this season, the Aggies are 2-0 after defeating Louisiana Monroe 87-54, and Abeline Christian 77-58. On Monday, The AP released their brand new Top 25 rankings, and low and behold, Texas A&M finally found itself positioned at #24 as they head to the Myrtle Beach Invitational to take on the Murray State Racers on Thursday afternoon.

In what looks to be Buzz’s most talented team yet, sophomore point guard Wade Taylor IV leads the team with 19.5 points per game, while shooting 71.4 percent from the field. The biggest difference between this year’s group compared to last season’s? Depth at nearly every position, especially inside, as Michigan State transfer Julius Marble, provides consistent forward Henry Coleman III help off the bench, while Witchita State transfer guard Dexter Dennis has already taken a leadership role while providing a nice mix of offensive and defensive output through the first two games.

Make sure to watch the Aggies as they take on Murray State in the Myrtle Beach Invitational on Thursday at 3:00 PM Central.

Head coach Buzz Williams’ Press Conference after Aggies’ defeat Abilene Christian 77-58

Head coach Buzz Williams’ Press Conference after Aggies’ defeat Abilene Christian 77-58

On Friday night, the 2022 Texas A&M Basketball squad defeated Abilene Christian by the score of 77-58, as the Aggies move to 2-0 on the young season, as they have begun to find their identity as a cohesive unit on offense and defense.

In two games so far this season, starting guard Wade Taylor IV has emerged as the go-to scoring threat, leading the team in points for the second game in a row with 21, while shooting a perfect 3-3 from 3-point. Henry Coleman III had 13-points and an 11-rebound double-double, while Dexter Dennis and Tyrece Radford both accounted for 13 points on the night in what was a very balanced scoring attack for the starting 5.

After the game, head coach Buzz Williams, Henry Coleman III, and Wade Taylor IV spoke to the media to discuss the win, as the team looks towards their upcoming matchup with Murray State in the Myrtle Beach Invitational starting next Thursday.

Here are the quotes from the night:

Texas A&M defeats Abilene Christian 77-58, moving to 2-0 on the season

Wade Taylor IV scores 21 points as Texas A&M defeats Abilene Christian 77-58, moving to 2-0 on the season

The 2022 Texas A&M basketball squad played its second game of the season on Friday night, facing the always feisty Abilene Christian Wildcats of the WAC, an opponent they know well after their 2021 meeting which took the Aggies 2 overtimes and a game-winning 3-point shot from former Aggies Hassan Diarra. After only leading 34-29 at the half, Texas A&M charged their way to a 77-58 victory, where they have now won 20 non-conference games in a row in Reed Arena.

After cruising past Louisiana Monroe 87-54 on Monday night, continuing to improve on offense and develop continuity on defense through their early nonconference schedule was vital before they enter SEC play. As fans begin to realize that this is in fact the deepest and most talented roster head coach Buzz Williams has had during his tenure with Texas A&M, fans once again packed reed arena tonight to support a team that hopes to achieve some pretty lofty goals this season.

From a stat line perspective, the Aggies shot 52.3 percent from the field, hit 6 3-pointers, were an impressive 71.4 percent from the free throw line, and out-rebounded the Wildcats 35-24 on the night. The defense accounted for 10 steals on the night, 7 more than they did in the opener, and held Abilene Christian to 38.5% shooting, though they did shoot 44% from 3.

Overall, the Aggies started out hot from the field, playing fast and efficiently in transition, as almost every player in the starting lineup contributed early, most notably point guard Tyrece Radford who accounted for 13 points and 8 rebounds after going scoreless against Louisiana Monroe. Forward Henry Coleman III had yet another strong night, recording his first double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Witchita State transfer guard Dexter Dennis continued to impress with his second consecutive double-digit outing, scoring 13 points and 2-4 from 3.

The story of the night however was the incredible performance from sophomore point guard Wade Taylor IV, perhaps the most promising player on the entire roster. On the night, Taylor IV was 5-7, 3-3 from 3, and lead the offense with 21 points, while displaying a fierce competitive spirit on every possession as his growth on the court has continued to lead the team to victory.

In a lower-scoring display from the Aggies bench, Michigan State transfer forward Julius Marble had 4 points, guard Hayden Hefner accounted for 5 points, and guard Manny Obaseki also had a quiet night with 4 points.

Texas A&M will be heading to the Myrtle Beach Invitational next week to face Murray State on Thursday, Nov. 17th at 3:00 PM CT. which will be aired on ESPN 2.
