The college basketball season is about to start, and the No.13 Texas A&M Aggies will be returning a veteran team looking to make a deep run to the NCAA Tournament.
He recently sat down with Andrew Monaco during the Aggie Basketball Hour for a conversation on how he is improving as a coach and a preview of the season.
One of the hallmarks of a Coach Buzz Williams team is having open and honest communication with the players. He also has the same policies for the athletes’ families and it paid dividends in the form of him returning a substantial amount of this roster.
“Our player retention speaks to our staff’s ability to find the right players in how we want to operate on and off the floor.”“I know how rare it is. I’m trying to be aware of how special this team is. I try not to take for granted the opportunity to spend time with them. All of us appreciate it. Our players understand this.”
He touched on the transfers and recruiting this season
“I think those guys fit us. They impact us now. They make our returning players better. I think signing day is in two weeks and I anticipate we’ll sign some players. You’re trying to evaluate who will be on the team next year and who you’ll need to add.”
Below you can watch the entire conversation starting about the 15:30 mark in the video
