Bowling Green at Buffalo odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Bowling Green at Buffalo odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Bowling Green Falcons (8-9, 2-2 MAC) and Buffalo Bulls (8-9, 2-2) battle in a Mid-American Conference contest Tuesday. Tip at Alumni Arena is at 7 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Bowling Green vs. Buffalo odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Bowling Green was over .500 after a 4-game win streak from Dec. 19-Jan. 7, but the Falcons have fallen back with 2 straight losses since. BGSU is an up-tempo, offense-1st squad that has been struggling on defense. The Falcons allowed season-high points in a 108-92 loss to Western Michigan as 1-point underdogs Saturday.

The Bulls were 2-0 straight up and 2-0 against the spread last season vs. BGSU. The youngest team in the MAC (per KenPom) has also been in a lot of high-scoring affairs, playing at a fast pace and struggling on defense. Buffalo has lost 2 straight and is 3-5 in its last 8. In all 5 losses, the Bulls have coughed up at least 87 points.

Bowling Green at Buffalo picks and predictions

Prediction

Buffalo 85, Bowling Green 80

Moneyline

Bowling Green is on a nice trend line of late outside of its last game. The Falcons are a lean but only an actionable play at +230. PASS.

Against the spread

Bowling Green figures to lose ground in overall defense, rebounding, and free-throw frequency. The Falcons take care of the ball and games in the last month against top-250 types have boded well for BGSU staying within a few possessions.

PASS, but consider a partial-unit play on the Falcons at +7.5.

Over/Under

The Over is 5-0 in the Falcons’ last 5 games against under .500 teams,14-2 in Buffalo’s last 16 against losing teams and 4-1 across the last 5 meetings between these 2 programs.

The combined margin on the Over covering in both BGSU-UB games last season was 56 points. These teams have not shown any inclination toward playing any serious defense for long stretches and they play so fast they don’t need a lot of treys to spiral the scoring totals.

This total accounts for the pace only to a certain degree. BACK THE OVER 162.5 (-115).

Buffalo at Miami (Ohio) odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Buffalo at Miami odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Buffalo Bulls (8-7, 2-0 MAC) visit the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks (6-9, 0-2) for a Mid-American Conference tussle in Oxford, Ohio. The opening tip at Millett Hall will be at 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Buffalo vs. Miami (Ohio) odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Buffalo enters having won back-to-back games straight up and against the spread. The Bulls are 3-1 since Dec. 21 and are a balanced, up-tempo group that has come along defensively of late. UB has held foes under 40% from the floor 3 times in that 4 game span.

Miami went 4-2 from Nov. 26-Dec. 17, but the Redhawks are just 1-3 since. MU has experienced shooting woes and trouble with turnovers in recent losses. Across their last 2 games — both losses — the Redhawks shot just 38.1% while committing 16.5 turnovers per game.

Buffalo at Miami (Ohio) picks and predictions

Prediction

Buffalo 78, Miami 73

Moneyline

The moneyline was OTB at the time of publishing.

Against the spread

The Bulls are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall, and they are the slight lean Tuesday. Buffalo has played a much tougher schedule so far, it is a young team that has been rebounding the ball better and it’s hitting more triples of late.

Miami is coming off an impressive performance against Kent State (69-66 loss as an 11-point underdog Saturday), but that performance sticks out as an aberration. MU looks like a young team struggling on defense.

BET BUFFALO -3.5 (-110).

Over/Under

Miami is 4-3 O/U at home. The Under is 4-0 in the Bulls’ last 4 road games against teams with losing home records.

The pace numbers for both teams have been on the decline of late.

BACK THE UNDER 155.5 (-105).

Ohio at Buffalo odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Ohio at Buffalo odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Ohio Bobcats (8-5) and Buffalo Bulls (6-7) tussle in a Mid-American Conference match-up Tuesday. The opening tip at Alumni Arena will be at 7 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Ohio vs. Buffalo odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

This contest marks the 2022-23 MAC opener for both teams.

Ohio is 3-0 straight up and 3-0 against the spread (ATS) over its last 3 games. Improved shooting has helped the Bobcats extricate themselves from a 1-3 start to the season. OU has shot 47.7% from the floor — including a 36.3% from 3-point range — in its last 9 games.

The Bulls are 1-3 SU (1-2 ATS in 3 lined games) over their last 4 games. That stretch comes on the heels of a 4-game win streak from Nov. 21-Dec. 6. Three of those 4 wins came at Alumni Arena, where UB is 5-1 this season.

Ohio at Buffalo picks and predictions

Prediction

Buffalo 81, Ohio 77

Moneyline

Scheduling over the holidays was kind to Ohio but featured tough road games — including West Virginia and Michigan State — for Buffalo. With the Bulls being at home, and OU struggling on the road at times, they are the likable side here. Back the BULLS (-105).

Against the spread

Ohio has dominated this series of late. The Bobcats are 6-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings, but BUFFALO +1.5 (-110) is a decent play Tuesday.

Some 3-point shooting regression can be expected — hurting OU and helping UB. Buffalo ranks 331st in the nation with its 29.3% mark on treys, but the Bulls have been quite good on far 2s (44.2% per BartTorvik). Some second-half-of-the-season spill-over — across the arc — would not be a surprise for what is a very young Buffalo team.

Look for the home side to be able to frequently get to the foul line in a fast-paced game that goes down to the wire.

Over/Under

The Under has hit in 6 straight meetings between these teams, but the OVER 157.5 (-105) is worth some partial-unit action in this one. The tempo figures to be well over average, and OU should get an above-average number of transition and 2nd-chance buckets.

Akron at Buffalo odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Akron at Buffalo odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Akron Zips (2-9, 1-6 MAC) meet the Buffalo Bulls (5-6, 4-3) Friday at UB Stadium in Buffalo. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Akron vs. Buffalo odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Zips snapped a 9-game skid with a 44-12 win at Northern Illinois Saturday as a 9.5-point underdog. It was Akron’s first victory of the season against an FBS team. The Zips are a respectable 5-2-1 ATS across the past 8 games overall.

The Bulls need a victory to secure bowl eligibility in this makeup game due to the massive snowstorm in western New York.

Buffalo blew a chance to lock up a bowl bid last time out, falling 30-27 in overtime against Kent State Saturday. It was UB’s 3rd consecutive loss and non-cover after a 5-game win and cover streak.

Akron at Buffalo picks and predictions

Prediction

Buffalo 32, Akron 25

Moneyline

Buffalo (-450) will cost you 4 1/2 times your potential return, which is a little too expensive for a team coming in on a 3-game losing skid.

Akron picked up a surprising 32-point win last time out against NIU, and the pressure is all on UB. The Bulls are desperate for a win, trying to secure bowl eligibility in a make-up game on a Friday afternoon, while the Zips will be carefree and just playing with no pressure at all. It’s a dangerous spot for UB.

PASS.

Against the spread

AKRON +11 (-110) is worth a look in this rare Friday afternoon game.

The Zips rolled up 200 rushing yards and 312 passing yards last week at NIU, and it’s a bad time for Akron to play its best game of the season, at least for Buffalo. The Bulls have frittered away the past 3 chances to lock up a 6th overall win and bowl eligibility. This is it, and UB could be a little tight.

However, you will be going against the series trends as Akron is 0-4 ATS in the past 4 meetings overall and 0-5 ATS in the past 5 trips to Buffalo.

Over/Under

An OVER 55 (-113) play is the lean here, but go lightly.

The Over is 10-4 in the past 14 games on the road for the Zips, while going 4-1 in the past 5 appearances on a Friday, too.

For the Bulls, the Over has hit in 4 in a row, 5 of the past 6 home games and is 4-0 in their past 4 inside the MAC.

Buffalo at Ohio odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Buffalo at Ohio odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Buffalo Bulls (5-3, 4-0 MAC) meet the Ohio Bobcats (5-3, 3-1) Tuesday at Peden Stadium in Athens, Ohio. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Buffalo vs. Ohio odds, and make our expert college football piks and predictions.

The Bulls head into Tuesday on a 5-game win streak, while also covering each game during the impressive run. Buffalo has used a combination of consistent offense and strong defense to turn things around and has scored 24 or more points in 7 straight games and allowed just 15.3 PPG across its last 4 contests.

The Bobcats can move into 1st place in the MAC East with a win against the Bulls who are unbeaten in the East Division. Ohio would own the tiebreaker with a chance to face Bowling Green — another East contender — down the road. Ohio has covered 4 games in a row.

Buffalo at Ohio picks and predictions

Prediction

Ohio 31, Buffalo 28

Moneyline

OHIO (+125) is worth a look in this very important home game. The Bobcats have things set up nicely for a run to Detroit and the MAC Championship Game, getting both Buffalo and Bowling Green, the closest contenders in the East, both at home.

The Bobcats have won all 4 of their home games to date while going 3-0 ATS in its 3 games against FBS opponents. Tuesday will be no different.

Against the spread

OHIO +2.5 (+100) is a decent play at even money, although it is still a much better value on the money line.

While Buffalo has strong numbers, including a 4-0-1 ATS mark in the past 5 road outings, Ohio is 4-0 ATS in the past 4 in the MAC and 20-8 ATS in the past 28 against teams with a winning overall record.

The public is on Buffalo at nearly a 2-to-1 clip, too, and that makes me like OU even more.

Over/Under

Over 58.5 (-114) would be the slight lean here, but it’s not worth paying slightly extra in a game that will be very close to the number.

PASS.

MAC Tournament: Buffalo vs. Akron odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Buffalo vs. Akron odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 5-seed Buffalo Bulls (19-10) and No. 4 Akron Zips (21-9) battle in a Thursday Mid-American Conference Tournament quarterfinal in Cleveland. The contest at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse is slated to tip off at 1:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Buffalo vs. Akron odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Buffalo went 13-6 in the conference, finishing fifth. Senior F Jeenathan Williams averaged 20.5 points per game over his last six outings and is the MAC’s fourth-leading scorer on the season (19.2 PPG). The Bulls won nine straight games from Feb. 5-26, but they closed out the regular season with two straight losses.

Akron went 14-6 in the MAC, tying for third. With a playing style that runs counter to their name, the Zips grind out slow-tempo games. Since Jan. 22, they are 10-4 and held opponents to 64 points or less nine times. In its only meeting with Buffalo, however, Akron won 88-76 at home Jan. 1.

Buffalo vs. Akron odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Buffalo 76, Akron 73

Money line

The lean is Buffalo (-140), but the price is just a bit out of bounds.

Against the spread

The trends in this MAC tortoise-and-hare matchup point to Akron. The slow-’em-down Zips are 5-0 ATS against the circuit’s three fastest squads (Buffalo, Bowling Green, Ball State). Up-tempo Buffalo is 1-4 ATS against the three slowest MAC teams (Akron, Kent State, Western Michigan).

But Akron may struggle at the outset of this one. The Zips have played a very weak schedule of late. While they have played fast teams tough the season, this particular draw — an athletic, high-energy Bulls team — may put Akron behind the eight-ball. Having Williams gives Buffalo an ace up its sleeve.

On just a slight lean (consider a partial-unit play), TAKE BUFFALO -1.5 (-120).

Over/Under

The Over is 3-1 across the last four games of this series. Slow Akron was dragged into four Overs in the five aforementioned games against quick MAC foes.

With UB’s offensive rebounding, UA’s free-throw rate and the overall frequency from distance, this one seems more destined for 150 than 140. TAKE OVER 141.5 (-112).

Buffalo at Kent State odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Buffalo at Kent State odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Buffalo Bulls (19-9, 13-5 MAC) and Kent State Golden Flashes (20-9, 15-4) close out their respective regular-season slates Friday in Kent, Ohio. The contest at the M.A.C. Center is slated to tip off at 6 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Buffalo vs. Kent State odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Buffalo went just 4-5 over a nine-game stretch from Dec. 18-Jan. 28, but the Bulls have rallied to go 9-1 since. The one loss came in their last game, a 92-76 setback against 24-win Toledo, which leads the MAC by one game over Kent State. Buffalo figures as one of the fastest teams in the MAC and also as the league’s top rebounding squad. The Bulls have averaged 14.6 offensive rebounds per game over their last 10.

The Flashes tote an 11-game win streak into Friday’s early-evening tussle. Buffalo was the last team to beat Kent State, claiming a 64-51 victory as a 7-point home favorite Jan. 21. Kent State is 13-1 in its last 14 outings, 6-0 in its last six conference home games, and as mentioned, trails Toledo by one game in the MAC standings.

Buffalo at Kent State odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Buffalo 75, Kent State 71

Money line

Buffalo is a senior-laden group, which has played well on the road. The fast-tempo Bulls sometimes underperform expectations against other quick fives. Slow-down Kent State – albeit a quicker team of late – won’t pose that problem. UB has shot a rock-solid 38.5% from beyond the arc over its last seven games.

That distance shooting and their rebounding make the BULLS (+120) a slight value.

Against the spread

If you’re not interested in backing the upset on the money line, BETTING BUFFALO +2.5 (-115) is worth a small wager here.

Buffalo has covered four in a row in the head-to-head series and seven of the last eight.

Over/Under

Expect a different pace than their first meeting of the season, which finished 33.5 points Under an O/U line of 148.5.

Buffalo averages 80.9 points per game (PPG), which ranks ninth in the country. Kent State, which averages 71.3 PPG, has played higher pace games of later, scoring 77.6 PPG during its 11-game win streak.

BACK THE OVER 144.5 (-115).

Buffalo at Ball State odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Ball State 31, Buffalo 27

Money line

Peg these MAC crossover foes as being very even. Buffalo has a couple of shaky-defense games up close in the rearview mirror, with contests allowing 56 and 45 points against Bowling Green and Miami, respectively, taking place within the last month. However, UB had a big turnover negative in those efforts.

On a chilly night with a slight breeze, figure the Bulls’ ground game (29th) against the Cardinals’ run defense (95th) as being key in a close game. BACK BUFFALO (+190).

Against the spread

The underdog is 6-0 ATS in the last six meetings between Buffalo and Ball State.

These programs last met in the 2020 MAC Championship Game which the Cardinals won 38-28. UB outgained BSU by 70 yards, but the Bulls were hampered by going 4-for-16 on third and fourth downs and by a Ball State defensive score.

The Bulls are seeking revenge and are worthy of attention at this number. BACK BUFFALO +6.5 (-108).

Over/Under

There are plenty of deficiencies on both sides of the ball here … and with both teams. Too much gray area: PASS.

Northern Illinois at Buffalo odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Northern Illinois at Buffalo odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Northern Illinois Huskies (7-3, 5-1 MAC) visit the Buffalo Bulls (4-6, 2-4) Wednesday at UB Stadium in Buffalo. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Northern Illinois vs. Buffalo odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Huskies posted a 30-29 win against Ball State last Wednesday, keeping them on track for a MAC West Division title. NIU needs to win one of its next two games to clinch a repeat trip back to the MAC Championship Game.

The Bulls are still alive for bowl eligibility, but they need to win the final two games. Two straight losses to Bowling Green and Miami have worked to unravel the season for Buffalo.

Northern Illinois at Buffalo odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Northern Illinois 39, Buffalo 29

Money line

NORTHERN ILLINOIS (-110) needed all 60 minutes to get by Ball State last week, and nothing comes easy in the MAC, especially in these unpredictable November mid-week games. But NIU has been playing good football lately, putting up 30 or more points in four consecutive games. The offense has been confident, and they can do it on the ground or through the air.

Buffalo (-110) will be able to move the ball on a Huskies defense that has given up 26 or more points in each of the past four, including being gouged for 52 at Kent State two weeks ago. But the Bulls are not the Golden Flashes, and this team managed just 18 points last week at Miami. This team is just 2-4 SU across the past six outings and is likely sitting home for the holidays at this rate.

Against the spread

It’s a bit monotonous, as NORTHERN ILLINOIS +0.5 (-110) costs the same as the money line, but sprinkle some on the spread as well.

Over/Under

The OVER 59.5 (-110) is worth a look, as Buffalo has cashed the Over in each of the past two, allowing a total of 101 points in the two-game span.

Northern Illinois made a great move by getting QB Rocky Lombardi to transfer in from Michigan State. He has given the team great leadership under center, and this Huskies team is scoring plenty. WR Tyrice Richie could return from a leg injury to make this offense that much more explosive.

Buffalo at Michigan odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Buffalo Bulls vs. Michigan Wolverines odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Buffalo Bulls and No. 6 Michigan Wolverines open the regular season Wednesday night at Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, Mich. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Buffalo vs. Michigan odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Buffalo welcomes back three experienced players in G Ronaldo Segu and Fs Josh Mballa and JeeNathan Williams. In fact, Williams is a MAC Player of the Year candidate, and the Bulls are the favorites to win the conference.

Michigan enters the season with a Top 10 ranking, and they are also expected to do plenty of big things. C Hunter Dickinson leads the way, with F Caleb Houstan one of the more exciting newcomers for head coach Juwan Howard and the Wolverines.

Buffalo at Michigan odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Michigan 85, Buffalo 76

Money line

Michigan (-1200) will cost you 12 times your potential return, or a profit of just $8.33 for every $100 risked. That’s just tremendous risk for not very much reward, especially against a team picked by many to finish atop its conference.

AVOID, and look to the spread.

Against the spread

We saw a very close game between a MAC team and ranked Big Ten foe Tuesday as Ohio State needed a late lay-in to beat Akron at the buzzer. Can the MAC do it again? Doubtful.

Michigan -15.5 (-107) isn’t going to lose on its home court as Dickinson and the Wolverines are going to be one of the better teams in the nation this season. But BUFFALO +15.5 (-115) is worth backing, catching nearly eight buckets. They have the potential to keep this within single digits as the returning trio of first-team MAC players give this team a look for a 22-25 win team.

Over/Under

OVER 150.5 (-108) is the lean here as Michigan figures to be a top-flight offensive team. UB rolled up 82.7 PPG last season, ranking ninth in the nation, and head coach Jim Whitesell really likes to push the tempo. The Over shouldn’t be a problem as the Bulls weren’t particularly strong on defense a season ago.
