AEW Collision results 03/02/24: Revolution Eve in Huntsville

AEW Collision filled in the final spot on the Revolution card and added a match to the pre-show as well.

We’re so, so close to AEW Revolution now. In fact, we’re so close that AEW Collision isn’t live tonight, having been taped earlier this week in Huntsville, Ala.

It’s a go home show for sure, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing important happening. For one, there’s a three-way match that will fill the final spot in the

AEW Collision results:

  • Buddy Matthews was supposed to wrestle an unknown opponent when he was attacked by Mark Briscoe; a wild brawl ensued that also drew in other members of the House of Black, but Briscoe was able to fight them all off and nearly managed to burn Matthews with the pyro and flame jests before the House retreated
  • Swerve Strickland admits that Hangman Adam Page tricked him good on Dynamite, but also says it won’t happen again and that he’ll take the AEW World Championship from Samoa Joe at Revolution
  • Dante Martin def. Bryan Keith and Penta El Zero Miedo by pinning Keith to win a spot in the All-Star 8-Man Scramble at Revolution
  • Page is shown angrily explaining that he isn’t proud of the deception he pulled off but insists “I had to do it”
  • Mariah May def. Angelica Risk by pinfall; afterward, “Timeless” Toni Storm blows by May right after the bell and calls for Deonna Purrazzo to join her in the ring, and the two friends turned rivals exchange one last set of threats, then some blows after Storm kisses Purrazzo on the cheek; May tries to help Storm but gets beaten up for her efforts

AEW Collision results 01/13/24: House of Black keeps FTR down bad

Even with Daniel Garcia to help, FTR couldn’t overcome the House of Black on AEW Collision.

There’s a really, really cold football playoff game right now. You know where it will be much warmer and still plenty entertaining? In Norfolk, the site of tonight’s episode of AEW Collision.

While there are a few interesting matches on the card tonight, the main event figures to be FTR and Daniel Garcia teaming to face the House of Black. The House has been messing with FTR for some time now, claiming to be the only ones who love them.

But Garcia proved that wrong when he came to the duo’s rescue after an assault by … yes, you got it, the House of Black. Guess it’s tough love.

It may be an unlikely team-up, but it’s one that works as Garcia tries to balance his love of dancing with his road back toward being more pro wrestler and less sports entertainer. FTR can definitely help him with that. Let’s see if they do that and come out with a win tonight.

AEW Collision results from Norfolk:

  • Adam Copeland is out in his gear, meaning it’s time for the Cope Open; he asks who will step up, and he gets … Lee Moriarty, who gets a short hype video before he takes on Copeland
  • Adam Copeland def. Lee Moriarty by submission; after the match, Copeland returns to the mic and warns Christian Cage that “I’m still coming for your scrawny ass”
  • Lexy Nair asks FTR and Daniel Garcia if they can get along well enough to deal with House of Black, and they seem to be like-minded enough about what they’re doing that it won’t be a problem

  • Nair talks to Sammy Guevara and Chris Jericho ahead of their tag team title match on Battle of the Belts
  • Mogul Embassy (Brian Cage and Gates of Agony) def. Lance Archer and The Righteous by pinfall to retain the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship; afterward, Prince Nana calls his team the greatest ROH six-man tag team champs of all time and scoffs at Bullet Club Gold before challenging them for the next episode of Dynamite
  • Staying busy tonight, Nair talks to Preston Vance, who gets interrupted by Roderick Strong (and The Kingdom) and ends up angrily telling Strong they can fight next week

AEW Collision results 01/06/24: The House always wins, Sting does too

Sting said farewell to Charlotte and the House of Black got the last laugh on FTR on AEW Collision.

The sad thing about a legend saying goodbye over an extended period of time is that every time they compete, it’s the last time somewhere. That’s the glass half empty view. The glass half full version is that it allows fans in many different places to say goodbye when the show comes to them, which is the case for AEW Collision tonight in Charlotte.

It’s a city that has no lack of history with Sting, of course, but with Revolution and his retirement match coming up in just a few months, this will be the Icon’s last stop in the Queen City. He should get a heck of a reaction as a result, and it’s very cool that he’s in action alongside Darby Allin tonight.

There’s other fun stuff planned, including a title defense by Eddie Kingston and some words from Adam Copeland. Not a bad way to spend a snowy/rainy winter Saturday evening, so on to the action.

AEW Collision results 12/16/23: Eddie Kingston, Claudio Castagnoli stay alive

Also on AEW Collision, Thunder Rosa made her return to form a surprising alliance.

We’re getting down to the nitty gritty in the Continental Classic tonight on AEW Collision. For the Blue League, especially, several competitors are in must-win situations, particularly Eddie Kingston.

Maybe he wouldn’t be under so much pressure if he wouldn’t have put both of his titles up for grabs in this tournament, but he did and there’s no going back now. To get them back and become the first ever AEW Continental Champion too, he’s got to go on and win it all.

Kingston made that more difficult for himself by losing his first two round robin matches, but a victory over his archrival Claudio Castagnoli kept him alive. Kingston will need to win against Brody King tonight to still have a chance, and as luck would have it, Castagnoli is in the very same boat against group leader Andrade El Idolo.

All of which is to say that this is an important night in the Continental Classic, and there’s also a title defense by Orange Cassidy, always a good time. Let’s do this.

AEW Collision results 12/2/23: Bryan Danielson leaves Eddie Kingston down bad

Some intriguing matches also got set up for Dynamite and Final Battle on AEW Collision this week.

Saturday night’s alright for fighting, and tonight, it’s more than alright for fighting in a tournament. The Blue League of the Continental Classic takes center stage tonight on AEW Collision from Erie, Penn.

Most notably, Bryan Danielson makes his debut in the Classic as he’s only recently been cleared to compete. He’s back now, and he can compound the misery of one Eddie Kingston by beating the Mad King tonight.

Maybe Eddie is having some remorse over putting both of his championships up for grabs in this tourney, eh?

AEW Full Gear 2023 Zero Hour results: MJF wins with Samoa Joe but suffers afterward

The AEW Full Gear 2023 Zero Hour pre-show caused some serious drama for MJF.

If MJF is going to leave Inglewood with both of his championships, it’s going to start on the Zero Hour pre-show.

The AEW World Champion has to defend that title on the main Full Gear card, but his work begins prior to that. He’s known he was going to face The Gunns for the ROH World Tag Team Championship for a little while, but with Adam Cole still recuperating from ankle surgery, what he didn’t know was who his partner was going to be.

That mystery got cleared up at the very end of Rampage on Friday night, when Samoa Joe saved him from an attack by Bullet Club Gold. MJF had resisted Joe’s offers of assistance until that point, but with time running out and no other options, he really had little choice.

It’s not the only title match on Zero Hour either. Eddie Kingston will put his ROH World Championship on the line in what’s become a chippy feud with Jay Lethal. Of course, the problem Kingston will face is all kinds of potential interference from Lethal’s friends … but maybe that visit he got from Ortiz last night will be a potential solution.

We’re jumping in now to see how it all goes down.

  • Eddie Kingston def. Jay Lethal by pinfall to retain the ROH World Champion, thanks in part to assistance from Ortiz, who prevented Jeff Jarrett’s guitar from being brought into play and smashed it over Sonjay Dutt
  • Claudio Castagnoli def. Buddy Matthews by submission; after the match, Claudio offers a handshake, but Buddy shoves his way by it and heads back up the ramp
  • MJF and Samoa Joe def. The Gunns by submission to retain the ROH World Championship, with a surprise distraction provided by the arrival of Adam Cole, but The Gunns launch a vicious post-match attack on MJF’s left knee that Cole is helpless to stop

AEW Collision results 11/17/23: Final pieces fall in place for Full Gear

A special Friday episode of AEW Collision finalized some more stipulations and matches for Full Gear.

Saturday night may be alright for fighting, but when Full Gear takes up that night, AEW Collision has to try to prove that Friday is fine for fighting as well. It’s actually going to be a very full Friday, with Collision followed by Rampage and then an ROH taping.

But we care about Collision for now, where there will be several matches with potential Full Gear repercussions and another where someone will earn a TNT Championship shot … for later tonight on Rampage. We told you, there’s a lot of wrestling coming up.

AEW Collision results: Toronto isn’t Punk Country (but it does like Naito)

See the final matches and actions of AEW and NJPW’s finest the night before Forbidden Door on AEW Collision.

If someone had come back in time from 2023 to tell a slightly younger version of me that “hey, there’s a second big U.S. wrestling promotion and they work hand in hand with New Japan Pro-Wrestling,” younger me would have thought, “wow, that sounds pretty cool!” And as it turns out, it definitely is, as we’ll see tonight on the second episode of AEW Collision.

As you no doubt are already aware, AEW and NJPW are teaming up for their second annual Forbidden Door supershow Sunday night in Toronto. But as it turns out, a bunch of wrestlers from both companies will also be in action tonight.

One very intriguing crossover match has already captured our imaginations. Swerve Strickland has been superb these last few months as a heel, even though AEW hasn’t exactly booked him toward the top of the card. That hard work pays off on Collision, when he’ll take on none other than New Japan’s Ace, Hiroshi Tanahashi. It should be a really fun matchup, to say the least.

The main event has some of the flavor of last week’s, with CM Punk and FTR joining forces once again, this time adding Ricky Starks to the mix. Bullet Club Gold is on the other side for the second straight week as well, bolstered by The Gunns. Could Jay White and company have some other devious tricks up their sleeves? You can’t put it past them.

We’ll also see Miro and Andrade El Idolo, plus another first round match in the Women’s Owen Hart Cup Tournament. Plus Darby Allin and Sting will announce their mystery partner for Forbidden Door. Sounds like a fun two hours, and we’re looking forward to recapping it.

  • Miro says he’s been in exile for almost a year, but says he must walk alone so he has renounced his god, his gold and his beautiful wife

  • Hiroshi Tanahashi def. Swerve Strickland by pinfall, then saw MJF on the big screen promising to embarrass him and claiming he asked Tony Khan for their match to lead off Forbidden Door

Call it the ultimate test of one of Tony Khan’s longtime assertions. He’s made it known that AEW has a big and talented enough roster to support more hours of programming each week. Warner Bros. Discovery agreed and said “let’s see what you can do on Saturday nights.”

The debut episode has some extra buzz around it thanks to a story you might have heard about if you follow wrestling at all: the return of CM Punk. Back in action for the first time since a combination of injury and suspension following All Out last fall, he’s been a boon to ticket sales for tonight’s show in his hometown, and curiosity over what he might say may attract plenty of TV viewers too.

It’s almost secondary (but not quite, since Punk has never wrestled at the United Center) that he’s in the main event, teaming with FTR to take on Bullet Club Gold and Samoa Joe.

Several other interesting returns are set for the Collision premiere. Both Miro and Andrade El Idolo will return to the ring after months away. Plus Wardlow will defend the TNT Championship, and The Acclaimed are scheduled to be in the house.

There’s a brand new (to AEW, that is) announce team. The set will likely be different from the one used on Dynamite. And Khan paid for a famous Elton John song to be the show’s opening theme.

  • “I am the truth, and the truth is painful.” Fittingly, CM Punk starts off the show, walking to the ring to a huge reaction and carrying a bag with him; Punk says he’s done being nice and tells the crowd to tell him when he’s telling lies, saying people can call him whatever they want because they know he’s the truth

Punk takes a shot at Young Bucks and also still has his title belt with him (presumably, as he never takes it out), saying it belongs to him until someone pins or submits him; he also has his boots and says until there’s someone in the company can fill them, he’s the one who needs to wear them

  • Luchasaurus def. Wardlow by pinfall after Christian Cage blasts Wardlow in the head with a camera he took from ringside, and Luchasaurus is the new TNT Champion (though Cage is celebrating like he won)
  • QT Marshall says Powerhouse Hobbs will win the Owen Hart tournament, something Hobbs himself asserts

  • Andrade El Idolo def. Buddy Matthews by submission, utilizing a move his wife made famous, the Figure Eight; afterward, Andrade tries to shake Matthews’ hand, but the lights go out to reveal he’s surrounded by the House of Black

  • A video package shows Scorpio Sky highlights and teases his return

  • Tony Nese tries body shaming the Chicago fans and says it’s time for group training, but he’s mercifully cut short by the return of Miro

AEW Dynamite results: Swerve settles a score, The Elite stands strong

Live AEW Dynamite results for April 12, 2023 in Milwaukee, with Orange Cassidy defending his International Championship vs. Buddy Matthews.

If it’s Wednesday, and both the calendar and our boss assures us it is, it must be time for AEW Dynamite. Tonight’s show originates from Milwaukee, and a familiar formula for the card promises some good action.

For starters, we’ve got championship matches, as in plural. Orange Cassidy, a working man’s champion in every way but demeanor, is set to defend his AEW International Championship yet again. The challenger is someone who already has one title, Buddy Matthews of the House of Black, who would be a surprising yet not undeserving double champ if he wins.

Powerhouse Hobbs is another titleholder who isn’t about to back down from any challenge, even the open variety. Milwaukee will bear witness to Silas Young trying his best to wrest the TNT Championship from Hobbs, though that will be no easy task.

A pair of tag team matches have also been promoted. Riho and Skye Blue are among the women brave enough to stand up to The Outcasts so far. They’ll have to do it again tonight when they face Ruby Soho and Toni Storm. On the men’s side, the BCC has run through pretty much everyone its faced the last few weeks, and will try to do so again when Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli face … (checks notes) … Brandon Cutler and Michael Nakazawa? Oh dear.

Two former partners whose paths have diverged wildly will also be in action on Dynamite. Keith Lee will take on Chris Jericho, while Swerve Strickland will face off with Darby Allin.

Finally, while AEW World Champion MJF made it clear he didn’t want to go to Milwaukee, he’s contractually obligated to be there. So yeah, that’ll be happening too.
