The top offensive players in Tampa Bay’s loss to Buffalo, per PFF

These 10 players got PFF’s highest grades on the Bucs offense Thursday night:

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were looking to get back on track against the Buffalo Bills on Thursday Night Football, and while they didn’t end up winning, there were still some signs of improvement from their tough loss against the Atlanta Falcons.

The Bucs dropped the game against the Bills 24-18, but the offense managed to look more competent than it did against the Falcons. They only scored 18 points, but with a long season to go, it’s possible that Tampa Bay could trend in the right direction as the experience comes later in the year.

Pro Football Focus graded the team’s offense after their game, and these 10 players were given the highest marks:

Bucs Report Card: How we graded Tampa Bay’s loss to Buffalo in Week 8

It went better than the Week 7 game against the Falcons, but there’s still a lot to clean up in Tampa Bay after Week 8.

It was another loss for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday, but it wasn’t quite as bad as the game four days prior.

The team was bested by the Buffalo Bills 24-18 on Thursday Night Football, and while the score makes the game look much closer than it is, the Bucs still put in a better shift than they did against the Atlanta Falcons the Sunday prior. That doesn’t mean the game was perfect, though, and there remains many things to clean up on the team’s short bye before they head to Houston to play the Texans in Week 9.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers fell to 3-4 after losing to the Buffalo Bills on prime time, but there were still some highlight-worthy plays on Tampa Bay’s end during the contest.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield threw two touchdowns on Thursday, one to wideout Chris Godwin and the other to WR Mike Evans. The Bucs weren’t in it for most of the game, but they spent a majority of the fourth quarter mounting a comeback that fell just short on Thursday night. Additionally, saftey Antoine Winfield Jr. continued his great campaign with a forced turnover on QB Josh Allen.

Studs and Duds from Tampa Bay’s loss to the Buffalo Bills

These players were some of the best (and worst) performers in Tampa Bay’s Week 8 loss:

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers fought hard at the end, but it still translated to a loss against the Buffalo Bills on the road Thursday in prime time.

The 24-18 defeat in Orchard Park, New York, wasn’t quite as bad of a game as the Atlanta Falcons loss a few days earlier, as the offense did some meaningful things this time around to get a few points on the board. It was far from perfect, though, and the duds stood out in this matchup just as much as the studs did.

Here are Bucs Wire’s studs and duds from Tampa Bay’s third straight loss this season:

Social media reacts to Tampa Bay’s 24-18 loss to the Bills

Here’s how the web reacted to the Bucs’ third loss in a row:

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made it close at the end, but they weren’t able to pull out a win against the Buffalo Bills on Thursday.

Tampa Bay lost a 24-18 game that wasn’t quite as close as the score would indicate, dropping their third straight game and moving down to 3-4 on the year. The team will look to prevent a big slide when it faces off against the Houston Texans next week on the road in what could be a must-win game at this point of the season.

While the Bucs played better than they did a few days ago, there were still plenty of gripes to be had with the team in the loss. Here’s how social media reacted to Tampa Bay’s Week 8 performance:

Bucs bested by Bills, drop to 3-4 on the year

After a promising 3-1 start, the Bucs have lost three straight and now bear a losing record.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were looking to pick up a win and maintain a winning record, but it simply wasn’t to be on Thursday night.

The Bucs dropped their game to the Bills 24-18, losing a third straight game and dropping to a losing record for the first time this year. The 3-4 Bucs will now get 10 days of rest before heading to Houston to play the Texans on the road.

The Bucs quickly fell down 10-0 at the beginning of the game, but the first half saw a nice rally from the team. Tampa Bay kicked a field goal before finding Chris Godwin in the end zone on a subsequent drive, making it 10-10. After that, though, the Bucs wouldn’t get the lead again, as the Bills offense proved too much to handle as it scored two subsequent touchdowns. They stalled in the 4th quarter, though, and the Bucs took advantage, scoring a touchdown late in the game on a pass from Baker Mayfield to Chris Godwin. The team converted on a two-point try, so it was 24-18 with just over two minutes to play.

That would be where it ended, though, as the Bucs were unable to score the winning touchdown with so little time left on the last drive. At the game’s end, quarterback Baker Mayfield completed 25 passes in 42 attempts for 237 yards, two touchdowns and no picks. Mayfield is 1-11 in his career when he has to throw more than 40 passes.

Penalties remained a huge problem for the Bucs, as the team had 11 penalties for 74 yards across the night. The team did well in the run game, though, averaging 4.6 yards per carry on 17 attempts.

WATCH: Antoine Winfield Jr. forces a turnover on QB Josh Allen

Antoine Winfield Jr.’s All-Pro campaign continues with a great play on Josh Allen.

Antoine Winfield Jr. has been a menace for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers all year, and he didn’t stop his stellar play against the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night.

Winfield Jr. got to the backfield and tipped a potential pass from Bills quarterback Josh Allen, and the ball was picked off by Bucs defensive end William Gholston. The turnover would eventually lead to a Tampa Bay touchdown on a ball caught by Chris Godwin.

Check out the play above.

Week 8 picks: Who experts and pundits are taking in Bucs at Bills

To say the Bills are widely favored in this one is perhaps an understatement.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were held in high regard after a dominant performance against the New Orleans Saints had them 3-1, but things have certainly changed since then.

The Bucs have lost two games in a row and are looking to avoid a third loss to the Buffalo Bills on Thursday Night Football. And while the Bucs were universally picked to defeat the Atlanta Falcons in Week 7, the tune of experts and pundits has changed after Tampa Bay lost that game 16-13 at home.

Here is how they all picked Thursday night’s matchup against the Bills to go — and to the dismay of Bucs fans, they all seem to be in agreement:

Bucs Wire staff picks for Week 8 against the Bills

Here’s how we see Thursday’s game on prime time play out for the Bucs:

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a chance for a get-right game just four days after losing to the Atlanta Falcons 16-13, but the Buffalo Bills are a tough team to get right against.

Both teams have three losses and are coming off a division loss, so there’s motivation on both sides to get it done on Thursday night in prime time. But can the Bucs keep up with a high-powered Bills offense, and can Buffalo prove it can be a consistent football team with a statement win at home?

Bucs Wire staff thought about all these questions, and we gave our picks for the Week 8 showdown below:

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers weren’t able to beat their NFC South rivals in the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, and now, they face a huge test just four days later.

The Bucs are 3-3 and risk dropping to a losing record after emerging out of the bye week at 3-1. This will be a tough team to stay afloat against, however, because they’re set to play the Buffalo Bills on the road on short rest and face one of the league’s most potent offenses.

The Bills, meanwhile, are looking to get back on track themselves. Buffalo is 4-3 despite their talented roster, as injuries have plagued them for most of the year. The team just took a tough loss to the New England Patriots, so expect them to play tough on Thursday.

According to BetMGM, the Bills are 7.5-point favorites over the Bucs. The over-under is set at 42.

Will the Bucs get back on track and defeat the Bills to maintain a winning record? Or will the Bills showcase their dominant offense behind quarterback Josh Allen?
