Where the Bucs rank statistically after Week 13

Here is where the Bucs stack up against the rest of the NFL after their latest win:

Playing the worst team in football is often a good way to get your statistical rankings up.

That’s what the Tampa Bay Buccaneers did in Week 13 against the Carolina Panthers last Sunday, defeating them 21-18 at Raymond James Stadium. It was a good week for the defense, holding the Panthers to just 18 points and getting a takeaway off of quarterback Bryce Young. The offense remains a little shakey, but the run game has also improved considerably in the last few weeks as the offensive line has gelled and the running back room has stepped up.

Naturally, Tampa Bay’s statistical rankings are dropping further as the team continues to lose.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were once among the top 10 of multiple statistical categories in the NFL, but after losing six of their last seven games, those days are firmly in the past.

There have been problems in Tampa Bay ever since the team returned from the bye week in Week 6, and they don’t show any signs of stopping. The team lost its Week 12 game to the Indianapolis Colts, and the game saw an offense that still isn’t quite clicking mixed with a defense that seems to find any way it can to give up yards. The Bucs are doing some things right — they’re still keeping teams out of the end zone once they hit the red zone and they don’ turn over the ball as much as other teams — but those things are few and far between.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a defensive performance that many have seen from them week after week.

The team was good at stopping the run, holding the San Francisco 49ers below four yards per carry, but relinquished over 330 passing yards and three touchdowns from quarterback Brock Purdy in what remains perhaps the league’s worst passing defense. Despite that, though, the team got pressure against a stout 49ers unit, netting four sacks across the day. That didn’t help the team win, though, as it dropped its game against the 49ers 27-14.

Pro Football Focus took to grading every Bucs defensive player in Week 11, and these 10 players were their highest-graded on the day:

The Bucs didn’t get a lot of high marks for their 14-point performance Sunday.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn’t turn in the best offensive performance against the San Francisco 49ers this weekend.

The team put up just 14 points on multiple red zone trips on Sunday, averaging under four yards per carry and turning the ball over once. The Bucs had more opportunities than perhaps initially expected when they went to play the 49ers, but they squandered quite a few of them and were left lacking for the entire back half of the game. Pro Football Focus took to grading every offensive player that took snaps Sunday, and while a few of them showed out, they didn’t think highly of most Tampa Bay players on that side of the ball.

Here’s where the Bucs measure up to the rest of the league after their game against San Francisco.

Despite a 13-point loss to the San Francisco 49ers, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn’t really move the needle for better or for worse on Sunday.

The Bucs dropped their Week 11 game 27-14, but it was nothing we hadn’t really seen before from the team. The pass defense remains awful, the run game cannot get going and the team’s red zone defense remains bizarrely strong despite everything else going on with the unit. The Bucs will have a good chance to tilt these numbers a bit more in their favor when they face the Indianapolis Colts in Week 12.

The worst offensive players in Tampa Bay’s win over Tennessee, per PFF

One of PFF’s worst-graded offensive players comes as a bit of a surprise after they scored one of Tampa Bay’s two touchdowns on Sunday.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense did the job on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans, but it wasn’t quite the electrifying performance they had against the Houston Texans in Week 9.

The Bucs scored 20 points against the Titans with two touchdowns, but still had some red zone trouble along the way and could not get the running game going. There are definitely things to fix going forward, and Pro Football Focus recognized that with its offensive grades for the Bucs in Week 10 — and one of their five worst-graded players on offense came as a bit of a surprise.

Here are those five players below:

The worst defensive players in Tampa Bay’s win over Tennessee, per PFF

Pro Football Focus didn’t love the performance of these five players despite a dominant defensive game on Sunday.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers boasted a strong defensive showing in Week 10 against the Tennessee Titans. And while almost every defensive player had a strong showing, not all of them did.

The Bucs were able to get pressure on quarterback Will Levis consistently and stifle the run game entirely, holding the Titans to just six points. And while there were quite a few stars from that performance, there were a small few defensive players who arguably didn’t contribute to standard once the clock hit zero on Sunday. Pro Football Focus graded every Bucs defensive player who took a snap, and they didn’t look favorably on some of them.

The Bucs defense did good work to even out their statistical rankings Sunday, but there are still plenty of areas for improvement.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers vastly tilted their statistical rankings backward after a bad loss to the Houston Texans, but they brought it right back after a big win over the Tennessee Titans.

The Bucs won 20-6 on Sunday against the Titans, showcasing a dominant defensive performance. The offense was still a little rocky, but it got the job done and found the end zone twice in the victory. The defense played much better than they did last Sunday, limiting pass yards and rushing attack from the Titans get the victory at home.

Five of Tampa Bay’s six active edge rushers appeared in PFF’s top 10 against the Titans.

It took a bit, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were back to their dominant ways on the defensive side of the ball Sunday.

Tampa Bay held the Tennessee Titans to just six points across the board, severely limiting both the run game and the passing game and not allowing the Titans to score a single touchdown in Raymond James Stadium. It was a particularly good day for the pass rushers in the eyes of Pro Football Focus, as five of the six EDGE players who got reps in the game appeared in the top 10 of their defensive rankings.

The Bucs got their overall second-worst grade of the year from PFF despite beating the Titans by almost three possessions.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are back in the win column, and while the offense put up 20 points, not everyone was impressed with their performance on Sunday.

The Bucs beat the Tennessee Titans 20-6, but Pro Football Focus gave the team a 59.5 grade overall — the team’s second-lowest grade all year despite the victory. While that seems a little much, given how bad some of the Bucs’ losses were, there’s some merit to the notion that the offense underperformed. That doesn’t mean that there weren’t players that showed out, though.
