Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints odds and lines, with expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-1) visit the New Orleans Saints (2-1) on Sunday. Kickoff from the Caesars Superdome is set for 1 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Buccaneers vs. Saints odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Buccaneers are coming off a short week after falling 25-11 against the Eagles while failing to cover as 5.5-point home underdogs Monday night. QB Baker Mayfield went 15-of-25 passing for 146 yards with a touchdown and interception in the loss. It seemed the Tampa offense could not move the ball until late in the 4th quarter when the outcome was no longer in question. WR Mike Evans was Mayfield’s favorite target with 5 receptions on 10 targets for 60 yards and a TD.

New Orleans fell 18-17 on the road against the Packers last week, failing to cover as a 1-point favorite. The Saints entered the 4th quarter up 17-0 before giving up 18 unanswered points to lose the game. But the bigger loss of the day was QB Derek Carr exiting early with a shoulder injury. WR Chris Olave kept the offense moving with 8 receptions for 104 yards, but ultimately the defense could not hold the line to end the game.

There are reports that Carr won’t play against the Saints — he’s listed as “questionable” on the NFL injury report as of early Sunday morning.

Buccaneers at Saints picks and predictions

Prediction

Saints 24, Buccaneers 20

Moneyline

PASS.

The Saints are playing at home and are the rightful favorites in this game, which is why the odds are set at -185. There is more profit to be made betting the spread below.

Against the spread

LEAN SAINTS -3.5 (-110).

While their collapse last week was catastrophic, the Saints will bounce back in front of their home crowd against a Buccaneers team that looked awful on offense last week. New Orleans has had a full week to prepare backup QB Jameis Winston to take the field against his former team and he will step up to the challenge. The Saints will also see RB Alvin Kamara return from suspension this week giving them an added edge.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 40 (-110).

Neither team has been spectacular on offense this season, but both Mayfield and Winston are capable of finding the open receivers and creating scoring opportunities. You can expect clumsy turnovers, but both QBs have displayed playmaking abilities. The mix of QB Taysom Hill along with Kamara and Olave is a recipe for points and the Over hitting.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints odds and lines, with expert NFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-0) clash with the New Orleans Saints (1-0) for the early lead in the NFC South Sunday at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Buccaneers vs. Saints, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Bucs outlasted the Dallas Cowboys 19-3 in their season opener on Sunday Night Football. It came at a cost, though as WR Chris Godwin (hamstring) and OT Donovan Smith (elbow) are both likely to miss this week’s game after suffering injuries in the opener. Tampa actually quit throwing the ball late in the game because QB Tom Brady was getting hit so much.

The Saints pulled a rabbit out of a hat to beat the Atlanta Falcons 27-26 on a field goal with 19 seconds remaining. New Orleans trailed from early in the 2nd quarter but outscored Atlanta 17-3 in the final frame to secure the W. They, too, have some injury concerns as their QB and both running backs are on the injury report.

Buccaneers at Saints picks and predictions

Prediction

Buccaneers 23, Saints 21

Money line

The Bucs are vulnerable, and Brady does not look comfortable in the pocket with both starting tackles ailing and his center out for the year. I just don’t think the Saints have enough continuity to beat them yet — the Bucs aren’t the Falcons.

If NOLA’s line swelled closer to +150, I’d consider sprinkling a little. However, Brady and Co. get it done. Take the BUCCANEERS (-135).

Against the spread

Conversely, I think the Bucs struggle enough offensively to give the Saints a chance. DE Cameron Jordan will be in TB12’s face all day. If you find somewhere to take an Over 1.5 Sacks, I’d be all over that.

LEAN SAINTS +2.5 (-103).

Over/Under

What a great number here. We’re projecting 44 points, but this could truly go either way. Tampa scored just 19 and kicked a slew of field goals because they couldn’t protect Brady. The Saints dropped 27 on an inferior Atlanta team, and most of both offenses are banged up.

LEAN UNDER 44.5 (-117).

New Orleans Saints at Tampa Bay Buccaneers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Sunday’s New Orleans Saints at Tampa Bay Buccaneers odds and lines, with expert NFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Orleans Saints (6-7) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (10-3) have an NFC South divisional showdown on prime time Sunday night. Their game kicks off Sunday night at 8:20 p.m. ET at Raymond James Stadium. Below, we look at the Saints vs. Buccaneers odds and lines, and make our best NFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Saints snapped a five-game losing streak last week with a 30-9 win over the New York Jets. They are one of five teams in the NFC at 6-7 and vying for a wild-card berth.

The Buccaneers are tied with the Arizona Cardinals and Green Bay Packers for the best record in the NFL at 10-3 and sit as the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoff race. They have won four games in a row, their last one being a 33-27 overtime win over the Buffalo Bills.

Saints at Buccaneers odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Buccaneers 24, Saints 17

Money line

PASS on the money line. Yes, the Saints beat the Bucs in Week 8. But in a matchup at quarterback between Tom Brady and Taysom Hill, which would you expect to win?

The Saints are a huge potential payout but have struggled too much over the last six weeks to bet on them to win outright, while betting the Bucs just doesn’t make sense in terms of value. There is no need to bet six times what you can win in the regular season.

Against the spread

The Saints are 6-7 ATS on the season, matching their record. They are 4-3 ATS as the underdog.

The Bucs, on the other hand, are 7-6 ATS and 7-6 ATS as the favorite — they have been favored in every game this season. They are also 5-1 ATS at home.

The Saints upset them with an outright win last time out, but Brady’s Bucs have not beaten the Saints by more than 10 points in any of their three matchups since he joined Tampa. The Saints beat the Bucs in Tampa last season 38-3.

I like the Bucs to win, but bet the SAINTS +10.5 (-112).

Over/Under

The Week 8 game between the two teams went for a total of 63.

All of the Saints’ last three games have stayed Under the projected total. Two of the last three for the Bucs have hit the Over, but they are 3-5 O/U in their last eight games.

The New Orleans defense will be up for the task and keep the Bucs from 30, which the Bucs have done four straight weeks, but the Tampa defense will limit the Saints, too. They scored 17 or less in two of their last three games.

Take UNDER 45.5 (-110).

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Sunday’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints Week 8 odds and lines, with expert NFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-1) hit the road in Week 8 to face the NFC South division-rival New Orleans Saints (4-2) Sunday at Caesars Superdome. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET and will be televised on FOX. Below, we look at the Buccaneers vs. Saints odds and lines, and make our best NFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Buccaneers registered a 38-3 blowout win against the Chicago Bears last weekend. While Tampa side bettors enjoyed the day, Over bettors certainly weren’t entertained by the game as both teams combined for just 3 second half points. The Bucs have won four in a row but are just 2-2 ATS during the streak.

The Saints have won back-to-back games with road victories over the Washington Football Team and Seattle Seahawks. They’re back on home turf for the first time since a stunning 27-21 overtime loss against the New York Giants in Week 4. New Orleans has alternated covers and non-covers in each of the first six outings.

Buccaneers at Saints odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Saints 31, Buccaneers 27

Money line

NEW ORLEANS (+190) is a value play with a chance to nearly double up. The Saints were kryptonite for the Buccaneers during the Drew Brees era. The Bucs are just 1-5 ATS in the past six meetings in this series, with the road team 5-2 ATS in the previous seven.

QB Tom Brady and the Bucs didn’t lose many games last year, but they dropped both regular-season meetings with the Saints. While that was against Brees this current Saints squad is red-hot and has won two straight and three of the past four games. New Orleans is worth a look until Tampa proves they can win in the Big Easy.

Against the spread

The SAINTS +5.5 (-108) catching nearly two field goals at home is a good play against a team they have had their way with over the years.

Again, nearly all of the damage was done during the Brees era, but QB Jameis Winston gets a crack at his former teammates and will be playing with a chip on his shoulder with something to prove against one of the leagues’s best teams.

Over/Under

The OVER 49.5 (-115) is the lean in this NFC South battle. The Saints have had a lot of success, and it’s mostly due to their strong defense. While New Orleans ranks eighth in the NFL with 331.5 yards per game allowed and is third with just 80.8 rushing yards per game allowed, it remains very susceptible to the pass. Both the Bucs and Saints will pass first and avoid the run in what could be a score-fest.

The Bucs are also a shutdown rush defense, giving up a league-low 67.4 yards per game. However, they have allowed 264.7 yards per game through the air, so while RB Alvin Kamara might not do much on the ground, look for plenty of targets out of the backfield for the dual-threat.

Underdog Corner: 3 best NFL picks and predictions for Week 8

Assessing the NFL betting odds and lines for Week 8, with three predictions and picks for the best underdog bets to make.

Forgive the Halloween pun, but it’s scary how well things have gone here in Underdog Corner this season.
Week 7 featured our sixth winning week and third 3-0 card of the season as the Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts won outright Sunday, and the Seattle Seahawks covered at home Monday night. That brings our season against-the-spread record to 16-5 with 13 of those underdog selections winning outright.
It’s scary because we know regression could start pulling us back to the mean at any time, but hopefully it doesn’t start with…

NFL underdog predictions: Week 8

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday at 7:00 a.m. ET.

Detroit Lions +3.5 (-112) vs. Philadelphia Eagles

The 0-7 Lions are the only team still searching for its first win, but coach Dan Campbell’s crew has certainly been feisty, posting a 4-3 ATS record so far.

Jalen Hurts and the Eagles, meanwhile, have been less than inspiring at 2-5 overall and 3-4 ATS, and this is a prime opportunity for the Lions to break into the win column.

But even if it’s yet another heartbreaker for Detroit via a last-second field goal, we’ll still be good getting the 3.5 points.

PLAY: Try our new, free daily Pick’em Challenge and win. Play now!

Houston Texans +14.5 (-115) vs. Los Angeles Rams

So why would we side with a 1-6 team that has dropped six straight and averaged a league-worst 7.8 points per game over its last five outings?

It’s certainly far from comfortable with the opponent being the 6-1 Rams and NFL double-digit favorites also having covered at an 8-3 clip so far this season.

However, veteran QB Tyrod Taylor should be back for the Texans this week, sending overmatched rookie Davis Mills back to the bench, and that should be enough for Houston to get its third cover in four home games with the two-TD-plus cushion.

New Orleans Saints +5.5 (-108) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

We went against the Saints this past Monday night, and while they still prevailed 13-10 in Seattle, they didn’t get the cover as you could almost sense they were looking past Geno Smith and the slumping Seahawks and ahead to Sunday’s Big Easy visit from Tom Brady and the defending world champs.

The Saints did sweep the regular-season series last season, posting 34-23 and 38-3 wins, but the Bucs took full advantage of four New Orleans turnovers in the divisional-round playoff rubber match to advance with a 30-20 road win.

If Jameis Winston and Co. can avoid those costly mistakes Sunday, they’ll have a decent shot at upsetting the 6-1 Bucs, who have struggled at times defensively and are actually below .500 (3-4) ATS.

Buccaneers at Saints: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Buccaneers 34, Saints 31

Money line (?)

The Bucs have won five straight games to the Saints’ three in a row. While New Orleans swept the season series, they have also had unfortunate exits from the postseason the last three years. The Bucs had their first playoff win in more than a decade and Brady has a history of postseason success. Both teams are great on defense and the Bucs were superior on offense.

New Orleans has allowed a total of 16 points in its last two games, but that was against bad offensive teams (Chicago Bears, Carolina Panthers). The previous two weeks, they allowed over 30 points in each game while playing good offenses (Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings).

This should be a game for the ages, considering what is on the line for both Brees and Brady at this point in their careers. Take the BUCCANEERS (+140).

Against the spread (?)

Historically, it is foolish to bet against Brady in the postseason, He is 31-11 in the playoffs and has won at least two games in 10 different postseasons. Brees is 9-8 in the playoffs and has won more than one postseason game in a season only once.

Expecting an upset win by Tampa Bay, take the BUCCANEERS +3 (-105).

Over/Under (?)

The two games earlier in the season between the two teams went 1-1 against the O/U. Both teams are 10-7 against the O/U for the season (including playoffs).

Three of the last four games for the Bucs have gone Over but the Saints’ last two have gone Under. Take OVER 51.5 POINTS (-115).
